ਜੀਇ ਸਮਾਲੀ; ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਥਾ ॥
jee samaalee; taa sabh dukh lathaa |
ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਾਂ, ਤਦ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖੜੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
When I dwell upon Him in my soul, all my sorrows depart.
ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਈ ਹਉ ਪੀੜਾ; ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

ਮੇਰੀ ਫਿਕਰ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਦਰਦ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ-ਪੋਸਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The sickness of anxiety and the disease of ego are cured; He Himself cherishes me. ||2||
ਬਾਰਿਕ ਵਾਂਗੀ; ਹਉ. ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੰਗਾ ॥
baarik vaangee; hau. sabh kichh mangaa |
ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Like a child, I ask for everything.
ਦੇਦੇ. ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ; ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰੰਗਾ ॥

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਕਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਾਪਰਦੀ।
God is Bountiful and Beautiful; He never comes up empty.
ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਮਨਾਈ; ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਗੀਂ ਬਾਰੰਬਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਤੇ ਆਲਮ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
Again and again, I fall at His Feet. He is Merciful to the meek, the Sustainer of the World. ||3||
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
I am a sacrifice to the Perfect True Guru,
ਜਿਨਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ; ਸਗਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
jin bandhan kaatte; sagale mere |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਵੱਢ ਸੁਟੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
who has shattered all my bonds.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇ. ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕੀਏ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਰੰਗਿ ਰਸਾਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੫॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਚੋ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
With the Naam, the Name of the Lord, in my heart, I have been purified. O Nanak, His Love has imbued me with nectar. ||4||8||15||

O my Love, Sustainer of the World, Merciful, Loving Lord,
ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ; ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੇ ॥

ਅਨੰਦ-ਪੂਰਤ, ਡੂੰਘਾ, ਅਗਾਧ, ਅਨੰਤ, ਆਲਮ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ,
Profoundly Deep, Infinite Lord of the Universe,
ਊਚ ਅਥਾਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ; ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
aooch athaah beant suaamee; simar simar hau jeevaan jeeo |1|
ਅਨੰਦ-ਪੂਰਤ, ਡੂੰਘਾ, ਅਗਾਧ, ਅਨੰਤ, ਆਲਮ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ, ਬੁਲੰਦ, ਬੇਇਨਤਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਦਬੰਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Highest of the High, Unfathomable, Infinite Lord and Master: continually remembering You in deep meditation, I live. ||1||
ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ; ਨਿਧਾਨ ਅਮੋਲੇ ॥

ਤੂੰ ਦਰਦ-ਨਾਸ਼ਕਰਤਾ, ਅਣਮੁੱਲਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ,
O Destroyer of pain, Priceless Treasure,
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ; ਅਥਾਹ ਅਤੋਲੇ ॥
nirbhau niravair; athaah atole |
ਭੈ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨੀ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਬੇਥਾਹ, ਅਮਾਪ,
Fearless, free of hate, Unfathomable, Immeasurable,
ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੰਭੌ; ਮਨ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਠੰਢਾ ਥੀਵਾਂ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
akaal moorat ajoonee sanbhau; man simarat tthandtaa theevaan jeeo |2|
ਅਮਰ, ਸਰੂਪ ਜੰਮਣ-ਮਰਣ ਰਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਵਾਨ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਅਮਨ ਚੈਨ ਸਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
of Undying Form, Unborn, Self-illumined: remembering You in meditation, my mind is filled with a deep and profound peace. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗੀ; ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥
sadaa sangee; har rang gopaalaa |
ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਪੋਸਣਹਾਰ, ਅਨੰਦੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ।
The Joyous Lord, the Sustainer of the World, is my constant Companion.
ਊਚ ਨੀਚ; ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
aooch neech; kare pratipaalaa |
ਉਚਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਨੀਵਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਪਰਵਰਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
He cherishes the high and the low.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਤਿ੍ਰਪਤਾਇਣੁ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ ਪੀਵਾਂ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
naam rasaaein man tripataaein; guramukh amrit peevaan jeeo |3|
ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੂਆ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
The Nectar of the Name satisfies my mind. As Gurmukh, I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||3||
ਦੁਖਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ; ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
dukh sukh piaare; tudh dhiaaee |
ਗ਼ਮੀ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ, ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
In suffering and in comfort, I meditate on You, O Beloved.
ਏਹ ਸੁਮਤਿ; ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ॥
eeh sumat; guroo te paaee |
ਇਹ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸਮਝ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
I have obtained this sublime understanding from the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਧਰ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਠਾਕੁਰ; ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੀਵਾਂ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੬॥
naanak kee dhar toonhai tthaakur; har rang paar pareevaan jeeo |4|9|16|
ਤੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
You are Nanak's Support, O my Lord and Master; through Your Love, I swim across to the other side. ||4||9||16||

ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਵੇਲਾ; ਜਿਤੁ ਮੈ. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥
dhan su velaa; jit mai. satigur miliaa |
ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਿਆ।
Blessed is that time when I meet the True Guru.
ਸਫਲੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ; ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਪੇਖਤ ਤਰਿਆ ॥

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਮੋਘ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Gazing upon the Fruitful Vision of His Darshan, I have been saved.
ਧੰਨੁ ਮੂਰਤ ਚਸੇ ਪਲ ਘੜੀਆ; ਧੰਨਿ ਸੁ ਓਇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

ਸੁਲੱਖਣੇ ਹਨ ਮਹੂਰਤ (48 ਮਿੰਟਾਂ), ਚਸਾ (4ੇ5 ਸੈਕਿੰਡਾਂ), ਪਲ (24 ਸੈਕਿੰਡਾ) ਅਤੇ ਘੜੀ (24 ਮਿੰਟਾ) ਦੇ ਅਰਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਬਹਾਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।
Blessed are the hours, the minutes and the seconds-blessed is that Union with Him. ||1||
ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਤ; ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ॥
audam karat; man niramal hoaa |
ਉਪਰਾਲਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Making the effort, my mind has become pure.
ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਤ; ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਸਗਲਾ ਖੋਇਆ ॥
har maarag chalat; bhram sagalaa khoeaa |
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੇਂ ਟੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਸਭ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Walking on the Lord's Path, my doubts have all been cast out.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ; ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਰੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
naam nidhaan satiguroo sunaaeaa; mitt ge sagale rogaa jeeo |2|
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬੀਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਮਲੀਆ-ਮੇਟ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
The True Guru has inspired me to hear the Treasure of the Naam; all my illness has been dispelled. ||2||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ; ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
antar baahar; teree baanee |
ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਵਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
The Word of Your Bani is inside and outside as well.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਥੀ; ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
tudh aap kathee; tai aap vakhaanee |
ਤੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਰਨਣ ਕੀਤਾ।
You Yourself chant it, and You Yourself speak it.
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ. ਸਭੁ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੋ; ਅਵਰੁ. ਨ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
gur kahiaa. sabh eko eko; avar. na koee hoeigaa jeeo |3|
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, "ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਇਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।"
The Guru has said that He is One-All is the One. There shall never be any other. ||3||
ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ; ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪੀਆ ॥
amrit ras har; gur te peea |
ਅਮਰ ਕਰਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਮੈਂ ਰੱਬ-ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
I drink in the Lord's Ambrosial Essence from the Guru;
ਹਰਿ ਪੈਨਣੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਥੀਆ ॥
har painan naam bhojan theea |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਤੇ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
the Lord's Name has become my clothing and food.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਮਿ ਚੋਜ ਤਮਾਸੇ; ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀਨੇ ਭੋਗਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੭॥
naam rang naam choj tamaase; naau naanak keene bhogaa jeeo |4|10|17|
ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਨਾਮ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਤੇ ਦਿਲ ਬਹਿਲਾਵੇ। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਨਿਹਮਤਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
The Name is my delight, the Name is my play and entertainment. O Nanak, I have made the Name my enjoyment. ||4||10||17||

ਮੈਂ ਸਮੁਹ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I beg of all the Saints: please, give me the merchandise.
ਕਰਉ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ; ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਉ ॥
krau binantee; maan tiaagau |
ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I offer my prayers-I have forsaken my pride.
ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਲਖ ਵਰੀਆ; ਦੇਹੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
vaar vaar jaaee lakh vareea; dehu santan kee dhooraa jeeo |1|
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਦੀ ਪਰਾਪਤੀ ਲਈ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I am a sacrifice, hundreds of thousands of times a sacrifice, and I pray: please, give me the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||1||
ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ; ਤੁਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥
tum daate; tum purakh bidhaate |
ਤੂੰ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਦਾਤਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ।
You are the Giver, You are the Architect of Destiny.
ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥ; ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥
tum samarath; sadaa sukhadaate |
ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਆਰਾਮ-ਦੇਣਹਾਰ।
You are All-powerful, the Giver of Eternal Peace.
ਸਭ ਕੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਵਰਸਾਵੈ; ਅਉਸਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
sabh ko tum hee te varasaavai; aausar karahu hamaaraa pooraa jeeo |2|

ਦਰਸਨਿ ਤੇਰੈ; ਭਵਨ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ॥
darasan terai; bhavan puneetaa |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ (ਦੇਹਿ) ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
The body-temple is sanctified by the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan,
ਆਤਮ ਗੜੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ; ਤਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਤਾ ॥
aatam garr bikham; tinaa hee jeetaa |
ਉਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕਠਿਨ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
and thus, the impregnable fort of the soul is conquered.
ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ; ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ. ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
tum daate tum purakh bidhaate; tudh jevadd. avar na sooraa jeeo |3|
ਤੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਢੋ ਮੇਲ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰ। ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿੱਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਯੋਧਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
You are the Giver, You are the Architect of Destiny. There is no other warrior as great as You. ||3||
