ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਰਮਤ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ; ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

ਹਰ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The All-pervading Sovereign Lord King is contained in each and every heart. Through the Guru, and the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I am lovingly centered on the Lord.
ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇਵਉ ਕਾਟਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਉ; ਮੇਰਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ. ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਭਾਗੇ ॥੨॥

ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਦੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਰਪਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਹਿਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Cutting my mind and body into pieces, I offer them to my Guru. The Guru's Teachings have dispelled my doubt and fear. ||2||
ਅੰਧਿਆਰੈ. ਦੀਪਕ ਆਨਿ ਜਲਾਏ; ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨਿ. ਗੁਰੂ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

ਜਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆ ਕੇ, ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਲੈਂਪ ਜਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
In the darkness, the Guru has lit the lamp of the Guru's wisdom; I am lovingly focused on the Lord.
ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਬਿਨਾਸਿਓ; ਘਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਲਹੀ. ਮਨ ਜਾਗੇ ॥੩॥

ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਹੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨੂਆਂ ਜਾਗ ਉਠਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਵੱਖਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled, and my mind has been awakened; within the home of my inner being, I have found the genuine article. ||3||
ਸਾਕਤ ਬਧਿਕ ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ; ਤਿਨ. ਜਮ ਜੋਹਨਿ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

ਜੋ ਮਾਦਾ-ਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਪਤਿਤ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਤਕਾਉਣ ਲਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The vicious hunters, the faithless cynics, are hunted down by the Messenger of Death.
ਉਨ. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ, ਸੀਸੁ ਨ ਬੇਚਿਆ; ਓਇ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥੪॥

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਮੁਹਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਫ਼ਰੋਖ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਉਹ ਨਿਕਰਮਣ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
They have not sold their heads to the True Guru; those wretched, unfortunate ones continue coming and going in reincarnation. ||4||
ਹਮਰਾ ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਠਾਕੁਰ; ਹਮ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਗੇ ॥

ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Hear my prayer, O God, my Lord and Master: I beg for the Sanctuary of the Lord God.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ. ਲਜ ਪਾਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ; ਸਿਰੁ ਬੇਚਿਓ. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਗੇ ॥੫॥੧੦॥੨੪॥੬੨॥

ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਆਬਰੂ ਤੇ ਇੱਜਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੀਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਫ਼ਰੋਖ਼ਤ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
Servant Nanak's honor and respect is the Guru; he has sold his head to the True Guru. ||5||10||24||62||

ਹਮ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ. ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਮਤਿ; ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ. ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
ham ahankaaree. ahankaar agiaan mat; gur miliai. aap gavaaeaa |
ਮੈਂ ਮਗ਼ਰੂਰ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਕੜ ਖਾ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਾਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਅਕਲ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਸ ਛਡਿਆ ਹੈ।
I am egotistical and conceited, and my intellect is ignorant. Meeting the Guru, my selfishness and conceit have been abolished.
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ. ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ; ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

ਗ਼ਰੂਰ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੁਬਾਰਕ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਹਨ ਗੁਰੂ-ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ!
The illness of egotism is gone, and I have found peace. Blessed, blessed is the Guru, the Sovereign Lord King. ||1||
ਰਾਮ; ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

I have found the Lord, through the Teachings of the Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ; ਗੁਰਿ. ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਤਾਇਆ ॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਤੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
My heart is filled with love for the Sovereign Lord King; the Guru has shown me the path and the way to find Him.
ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ; ਜਿਨਿ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥

ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਮੂਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
My soul and body all belong to the Guru; I was separated, and He has led me into the Lord's Embrace. ||2||
ਮੇਰੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗੀ ਦੇਖਨ ਕਉ; ਗੁਰਿ. ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨਾਲਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਤਸ਼ਕਰਣ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ (ਵਿੱਚ) ਹੀ ਦਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
Deep within myself, I would love to see the Lord; the Guru has inspired me to see Him within my heart.
ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਮੋਰੈ; ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਆਪੁ ਵੇਚਾਇਆ ॥੩॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂਹਰੇ ਵਿਕਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
Within my mind, intuitive peace and bliss have arisen; I have sold myself to the Guru. ||3||
ਹਮ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਪਾਪ ਬਹੁ ਕੀਨੇ; ਕਰਿ ਦੁਸਟੀ ਚੋਰ ਚੁਰਾਇਆ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਬੜੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ। ਇਕ ਲੁੱਚੜ ਤਸਕਰ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਚੌਰੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
I am a sinner - I have committed so many sins; I am a villainous, thieving thief.
ਅਬ ਨਾਨਕ. ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਆਏ; ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੨੫॥੬੩॥
ab naanak. saranaagat aae; har raakhahu laaj har bhaaeaa |4|11|25|63|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ, ਹੁਣ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰਖ!
Now, Nanak has come to the Lord's Sanctuary; preserve my honor, Lord, as it pleases Your Will. ||4||11||25||63||

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਾਜੈ. ਸਬਦੁ ਅਨਾਹਦੁ; ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਗਾਵੈ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੁਤੇਸਿਧ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਗੂੰਜਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਸਾਈਂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਅਲਾਪਦੀ ਹੈ।
Through the Guru's Teachings, the unstruck music resounds; through the Guru's Teachings, the mind sings.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ; ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
vaddabhaagee gur darasan paaeaa; dhan dhan guroo liv laavai |1|
ਭਾਰੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਨਸੀਬ ਹੋਇਆ। ਸਾਬਾਸ਼, ਸਾਬਾਸ਼! ਹੈ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ ਨੇਹੂੰ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
By great good fortune, I received the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. Blessed, blessed is the Guru, who has led me to love the Lord. ||1||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ; ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The Gurmukh is lovingly centered on the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਹਮਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ; ਮਨੁ. ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥

ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ, ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
My Lord and Master is the Perfect True Guru. My mind works to serve the Guru.
ਹਮ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਹ ਪਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ; ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
ham mal mal dhovah paav guroo ke; jo har har kathaa sunaavai |2|
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਲਦਾ ਘੁਟਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਧੋਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
I massage and wash the Feet of the Guru, who recites the Sermon of the Lord. ||2||
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ; ਜਿਹਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
hiradai guramat raam rasaaein; jihavaa har gun gaavai |
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਅਲਾਪਦੀ ਹੈ।
The Teachings of the Guru are in my heart; the Lord is the Source of nectar. My tongue sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਮਨ ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ. ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਆਘਾਨੇ; ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ. ਨ ਭੂਖ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
man rasak rasak. har ras aaghaane; fir bahur. na bhookh lagaavai |3|
ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਿਜ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦੀ।
My mind is immersed in, and drenched with the Lord's essence. Fulfilled with the Lord's Love, I shall never feel hunger again. ||3||
ਕੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਉਪਾਵ. ਅਨੇਕ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ; ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ. ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
koee karai upaav. anek bahutere; bin kirapaa. naam na paavai |
ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਅਨੇਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਘਣੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕਰੇ, ਪਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
People try all sorts of things, but without the Lord's Mercy, His Name is not obtained.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ. ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ; ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿ੍ਰੜਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੨੬॥੬੪॥

ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਨਸੀਹਤ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੱਕੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
The Lord has showered His Mercy upon servant Nanak; through the wisdom of the Guru's Teachings, he has enshrined the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||12||26||64||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ।
O my soul, as Gurmukh, do this deed: chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਮਤਿ ਮਾਤਾ. ਮਤਿ ਜੀਉ; ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਖਿ. ਰਾਮਾ ॥
mat maataa. mat jeeo; naam mukh. raamaa |
ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ ਉਸ ਅਕਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਬਣਾ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਖਣ ਦੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੱਤ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Make that teaching your mother, that it may teach you to keep the Lord's Name in your mouth.
ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਕਰਿ; ਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਜਨਮਾ ॥
santokh pitaa kar; gur purakh ajanamaa |
ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਾਪੂ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਨਮ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਣਾ!
Let contentment be your father; the Guru is the Primal Being, beyond birth or incarnation.
