ਸਰਬੇ ਥਾਈ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ; ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ॥
sarabe thaaee ek toon; jiau bhaavai tiau raakh |
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਹੈ ਮਾਲਕ! ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰ।
In all places, You are the One and Only. As it pleases You, Lord, please save and protect me!
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ; ਨਾਮੁ ਭਲੋ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਖੁ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ, ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਸ਼-ਕਰਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Through the Guru's Teachings, the True One abides within the mind. The Companionship of the Naam brings the most excellent honor.
ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ; ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚੁ ਭਾਖੁ ॥੮॥
haumai rog gavaaeeai; sabad sachai sach bhaakh |8|
ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Eradicate the disease of egotism, and chant the True Shabad, the Word of the True Lord. ||8||
ਆਕਾਸੀ ਪਾਤਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ; ਤਿ੍ਰਭਵਣਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
aakaasee paataal toon; tribhavan rahiaa samaae |
ਤੂੰ ਹੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ! ਅਸਮਾਨ ਪਇਆਲ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਜਹਾਨਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰੀ-ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
You are pervading throughout the Akaashic Ethers, the nether regions and the three worlds.
ਆਪੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਭਾਉ ਤੂੰ; ਆਪੇ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
aape bhagatee bhaau toon; aape mileh milaae |
ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਅਨੁਰਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
You Yourself are bhakti, loving devotional worship. You Yourself unite us in Union with Yourself.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ. ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ; ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੯॥੧੩॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਦਾਚਿਤ ਨਾਂ ਭੁਲੇ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, may I never forget the Naam! As is Your Pleasure, so is Your Will. ||9||13||

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ; ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਕਰੀ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
raam naam man bedhiaa; avar ki karee veechaar |
ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੂਆ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਾਰਾਂ?
My mind is pierced through by the Name of the Lord. What else should I contemplate?
ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ; ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਤਉ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
sabad surat sukh aoopajai; prabh raatau sukh saar |
ਰਬੀ ਕਲਾਮ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅਨੰਦ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Focusing your awareness on the Shabad, happiness wells up. Attuned to God, the most excellent peace is found.
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਤੂੰ; ਮੈ. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
jiau bhaavai tiau raakh toon; mai. har naam adhaar |1|
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰ, ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
As it pleases You, please save me, Lord. The Name of the Lord is my Support. ||1||
ਮਨ ਰੇ; ਸਾਚੀ ਖਸਮ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
man re; saachee khasam rajaae |
ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।
O mind, the Will of our Lord and Master is true.
ਜਿਨਿ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਜਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿਆ; ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਤੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jin tan man saaj seegaariaa; tis setee liv laae |1| rahaau |
ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਨੇਹੁੰ ਗੰਢ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਬਣਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਵਾਰੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
Focus your love upon the One who created and adorned your body and mind. ||1||Pause||
ਤਨੁ. ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਹੋਮੀਐ; ਇਕ ਰਤੀ ਤੋਲਿ ਕਟਾਇ ॥
tan. baisantar homeeai; ik ratee tol kattaae |
ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਰਤਕ ਦੇ ਵਜ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰਿਆ ਜਿੱਡਾ ਵੱਢ ਸੁਟਾ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾੜ ਦਿਆ।
If I cut my body into pieces, and burn them in the fire,
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਧਾ ਜੇ ਕਰੀ; ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥
tan man samadhaa je karee; anadin agan jalaae |
ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਲਣ ਬਣਾ ਲਵਾ, ਅਤੇ ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਚਾਵਾਂ,
and if I make my body and mind into firewood, and night and day burn them in the fire,
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੁਲਿ. ਨ ਪੁਜਈ; ਜੇ ਲਖ ਕੋਟੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
har naamai tul. na pujee; je lakh kottee karam kamaae |2|
ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਂ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁੱਜਦੇ।
and if I perform hundreds of thousands and millions of religious rituals-still, all these are not equal to the Name of the Lord. ||2||
ਅਰਧ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਕਟਾਈਐ; ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਵਤੁ ਧਰਾਇ ॥
aradh sareer kattaaeeai; sir karavat dharaae |
ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਹਿਮਾਲੀਆ (ਦੀ ਬਰਫ) ਵਿੱਚ ਗਾਲ ਦਿਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
If my body were cut in half, if a saw was put to my head,
ਤਨੁ. ਹੈਮੰਚਲਿ ਗਾਲੀਐ; ਭੀ ਮਨ ਤੇ. ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
tan. haimanchal gaaleeai; bhee man te. rog na jaae |
ਜੇਕਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੀਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਰਾ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਅੱਧੇ ਅੱਧੇ ਟੋਟਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਢ ਦਿਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ,
and if my body were frozen in the Himalayas-even then, my mind would not be free of disease.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਤੁਲਿ. ਨ ਪੁਜਈ; ਸਭ ਡਿਠੀ ਠੋਕਿ ਵਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
har naamai tul. na pujee; sabh dditthee tthok vajaae |3|
ਇਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁਜਦੇ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਮੈਂ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਣੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
None of these are equal to the Name of the Lord. I have seen and tried and tested them all. ||3||
ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਕੋਟ, ਦਤੁ ਕਰੀ; ਬਹੁ ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
kanchan ke kott, dat karee; bahu haivar gaivar daan |
ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਉਮਦਾ ਘੋੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਧੀਆਂ ਹਾਥੀ ਖੈਰਾਤ ਵਜੋ ਦੇਵਾਂ,
If I made a donation of castles of gold, and gave lots of fine horses and wondrous elephants in charity,
ਭੂਮਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਗਊਆ ਘਣੀ; ਭੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗਰਬੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
bhoom daan gaooaa ghanee; bhee antar garab gumaan |
ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਜਮੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਘਣੇਰੀਆਂ ਗਾਈਆਂ ਬਖਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਕਰਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੇ ਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
and if I made donations of land and cows-even then, pride and ego would still be within me.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ; ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਸਚੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੪॥
raam naam man bedhiaa; gur deea sach daan |4|
ਵਿਆਪਕ-ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਦਾਤ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
The Name of the Lord has pierced my mind; the Guru has given me this true gift. ||4||
ਮਨਹਠ ਬੁਧੀ ਕੇਤੀਆ; ਕੇਤੇ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
manahatth budhee keteea; kete bed beechaar |
ਕਿੰਨੇ ਹੀ ਮਨੁਖ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ-ਇਰਾਦੇ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਅਕਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਣ ਤੇ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਾਲੇ?
There are so many stubborn-minded intelligent people, and so many who contemplate the Vedas.
ਕੇਤੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਜੀਅ ਕੇ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰ ॥
kete bandhan jeea ke; guramukh mokh duaar |
ਕਿੰਨੇ ਹੀ ਉਲਝੇਵੇ ਹਨ ਆਤਮਾ ਲਈ? ਕੇਵਲ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਮੋਖਸ਼ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
There are so many entanglements for the soul. Only as Gurmukh do we find the Gate of Liberation.
ਸਚਹੁ ਓਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ; ਉਪਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥੫॥
sachahu orai sabh ko; upar sach aachaar |5|
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਸਚ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹੈ, (ਸੋ) ਸਚਾ ਆਚਰਣ ਸਮੂਹ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ।
Truth is higher than everything; but higher still is truthful living. ||5||
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਊਚਾ ਆਖੀਐ; ਨੀਚੁ. ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
sabh ko aoochaa aakheeai; neech. na deesai koe |
ਹਰ ਕਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਕਹੁ, ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਮਾੜਾ ਨਜ਼ਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਦਾ।
Call everyone exalted; no one seems lowly.
ਇਕਨੈ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਸਾਜਿਐ; ਇਕੁ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥
eikanai bhaandde saajiai; ik chaanan tihu loe |
ਇਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਬਰਤਨ ਘੜੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਨੂਰ ਹੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਜਹਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
The One Lord has fashioned the vessels, and His One Light pervades the three worlds.
ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ. ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ; ਧੁਰਿ ਬਖਸ. ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੬॥
karam milai. sach paaeeai; dhur bakhas. na mettai koe |6|
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਚ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰਾ-ਪੂਰਬਲੀ ਦਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
Receiving His Grace, we obtain Truth. No one can erase His Primal Blessing. ||6||
ਸਾਧੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨੈ; ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥
saadh milai saadhoo janai; santokh vasai gur bhaae |
ਜਦ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰੀਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When one Holy person meets another Holy person, they abide in contentment, through the Love of the Guru.
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੀਐ; ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
akath kathaa veechaareeai; je satigur maeh samaae |
ਜੇਕਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਅਕਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਣ ਸਮਝਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They contemplate the Unspoken Speech, merging in absorption in the True Guru.
ਪੀ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ; ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੭॥
pee amrit santokhiaa; darageh paidhaa jaae |7|
ਸੁਧਾ ਰਸ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੱਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਪਹਿਨ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, they are contented; they go to the Court of the Lord in robes of honor. ||7||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਵਾਜੈ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ; ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
ghatt ghatt vaajai kinguree; anadin sabad subhaae |
ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਵੀਣਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੂੰਜਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਟ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
In each and every heart the Music of the Lord's Flute vibrates, night and day, with sublime love for the Shabad.
ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਉ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਈ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥
virale kau sojhee pee; guramukh man samajhaae |
ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਥੋੜੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਠੀਕ ਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਸਮਝ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Only those few who become Gurmukh understand this by instructing their minds.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ; ਛੂਟੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੮॥੧੪॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦ-ਖਲਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
O Nanak, do not forget the Naam. Practicing the Shabad you shall be saved. ||8||14||

ਚਿਤੇ ਦਿਸਹਿ ਧਉਲਹਰ; ਬਗੇ ਬੰਕ ਦੁਆਰ ॥

ਕਲੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਿਆਂ ਸਣੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਚਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੰਦਰ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
There are painted mansions to behold, white-washed, with beautiful doors;
ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਖੁਸੀ ਉਸਾਰਿਆ; ਦੂਜੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥

ਉਹ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਤੇ ਲਗਨ ਹੈ।
they were constructed to give pleasure to the mind, but this is only for the sake of the love of duality.
ਅੰਦਰੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਨੁ; ਢਹਿ ਢੇਰੀ ਤਨੁ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

ਅੰਦਰੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਗੈਰ ਸੰਖਣਾ ਹੈ। ਸਰੀਰ ਡਿੱਗ-ਢਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਦਾ ਢੇਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
The inner being is empty without love. The body shall crumble into a heap of ashes. ||1||
ਭਾਈ ਰੇ; ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਥਿ. ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
bhaaee re; tan dhan saath. na hoe |
ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਦੇਹਿ ਤੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਗੀਆਂ।
O Siblings of Destiny, this body and wealth shall not go along with you.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੋ; ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam naam dhan niramalo; gur daat kare prabh soe |1| rahaau |
ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The Lord's Name is the pure wealth; through the Guru, God bestows this gift. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ. ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੋ; ਜੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
raam naam. dhan niramalo; je devai devanahaar |
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੁਲ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ, ਜੇਕਰ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖਸ਼ੇ।
The Lord's Name is the pure wealth; it is given only by the Giver.
ਆਗੈ. ਪੂਛ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ; ਜਿਸੁ ਬੇਲੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
aagai. poochh na hovee; jis belee gur karataar |
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਪੁਛ-ਗਿਛ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।
One who has the Guru, the Creator, as his Friend, shall not be questioned hereafter.
ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਛੁਟੀਐ; ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
aap chhaddaae chhutteeai; aape bakhasanahaar |2|
ਜੇਕਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੁਦ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰੇ, ਉਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਫੀ ਦੇਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
He Himself delivers those who are delivered. He Himself is the Forgiver. ||2||
