ਦਵਾਈਆਂ, ਜਾਦੂ ਅਤੇ ਟੂਣੇ ਟਾਮਣ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਹ ਹਨ!
All medicines and remedies, mantras and tantras are nothing more than ashes.
ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ; ਰਿਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਧਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
karanaihaar; ride meh dhaar |3|
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਸਥਾਪਨ ਕਰ।
Enshrine the Creator Lord within your heart. ||3||
ਤਜਿ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮ; ਭਜਿਓ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥
taj sabh bharam; bhajio paarabraham |
ਸਾਰੇ ਵਹਮਿ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਸਿਧ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।
Renounce all your doubts, and vibrate upon the Supreme Lord God.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਅਟਲ ਇਹੁ ਧਰਮੁ ॥੪॥੮੦॥੧੪੯॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸਥਿਰ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ।
Says Nanak, this path of Dharma is eternal and unchanging. ||4||80||149||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ; ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੋਈ ॥

ਉਸ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord bestowed His Mercy, and led me to meet the Guru.
ਤਿਤੁ ਬਲਿ; ਰੋਗੁ. ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥
tit bal; rog. na biaapai koee |1|
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਿਮੜਦੀ।
By His power, no disease afflicts me. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਰਮਣ; ਤਰਣ ਭੈ ਸਾਗਰ ॥

ਵਿਅਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Remembering the Lord, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਸਰਣਿ ਸੂਰ; ਫਾਰੇ ਜਮ ਕਾਗਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਸੂਰਮੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਪਰਸਤੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਪੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਗਜ ਪਾਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
In the Sanctuary of the spiritual warrior, the account books of the Messenger of Death are torn up. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦੀਓ; ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ।
The True Guru has given me the Mantra of the Lord's Name.
ਇਹ ਆਸਰ; ਪੂਰਨ ਭਏ ਕਾਮ ॥੨॥

ਇਸ ਆਸਰੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
By this Support, my affairs have been resolved. ||2||
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ; ਪੂਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
jap tap sanjam; pooree vaddiaaee |
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨ, ਕਰੜੀ ਘਾਲ, ਸਵੈ-ਰੋਕਥਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
Meditation, self-discipline, self-control and perfect greatness were obtained when the Merciful Lord,
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ; ਹਰਿ ਭਏ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੩॥

ਜਦ, ਸਹਾਇਕ, ਗੁਰੂ-ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
The Guru, became my Help and Support. ||3||
ਮਾਨ ਮੋਹ ਖੋਏ; ਗੁਰਿ. ਭਰਮ ॥
maan moh khoe; gur. bharam |
ਮੇਰਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੇ ਹਨ।
The Guru has dispelled pride, emotional attachment and superstition.
ਪੇਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਪਸਰੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥੪॥੮੧॥੧੫੦॥
pekh naanak; pasare paarabraham |4|81|150|
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
Nanak sees the Supreme Lord God pervading everywhere. ||4||81||150||

ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲੋ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
The blind beggar is better off than the vicious king.
ਦੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ; ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
dukh laagai; raam naam chitaaree |1|
ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਸੁਨਾਖਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Overcome by pain, the blind man invokes the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ; ਤੁਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
tere daas kau; tuhee vaddiaaee |
ਆਪਣੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਦੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਈਂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਪਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਹੈਂ।
You are the glorious greatness of Your slave.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨੁ; ਨਰਕਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਧੰਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਨਸ਼ਾ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਜਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The intoxication of Maya leads the others to hell. ||1||Pause||
ਰੋਗ ਗਿਰਸਤ; ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ਨਾਉ ॥
rog girasat; chitaare naau |
ਜਹਿਮਤ ਦਾ ਪਕੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Gripped by disease, they invoke the Name.
ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਤੇ ਕਾ; ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥੨॥
bikh maate kaa; tthaur na tthaau |2|
ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ (ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਪੁਰਸ਼) ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਸੁਖ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
But those who are intoxicated with vice shall find no home, no place of rest. ||2||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ; ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
charan kamal siau; laagee preet |
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਚਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who is in love with the Lord's Lotus Feet,
ਆਨ ਸੁਖਾ; ਨਹੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੩॥
aan sukhaa; nahee aaveh cheet |3|
ਉਹ ਹੋਰਲਾ ਆਰਾਮਾ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
does not think of any other comforts. ||3||
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਉ; ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
sadaa sadaa simrau; prabh suaamee |
ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ।
Forever and ever, meditate on God, your Lord and Master.
ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੮੨॥੧੫੧॥
mil naanak; har antarajaamee |4|82|151|
ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ।
O Nanak, meet with the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||4||82||151||

ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ, ਰਸਤੇ ਦੇ ਧਾੜਵੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਹਨ।
Twenty-four hours a day, the highway robbers are my companions.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ; ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲਏ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿੱਤਰ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
Granting His Grace, God has driven them away. ||1||
ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ; ਰਮਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
aisaa har ras; ramahu sabh koe |
ਹਰ ਜਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਉਚਿਤ ਹੈ।
Everyone should dwell on the Sweet Name of such a Lord.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ; ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sarab kalaa; pooran prabh soe |1| rahaau |
ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਮੂਹ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
God is overflowing with all power. ||1||Pause||
ਮਹਾ ਤਪਤਿ; ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
mahaa tapat; saagar sansaar |
ਪਰਮ ਸਾੜ ਸੁਟਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਗਤ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ।
The world-ocean is burning hot!
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ; ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
prabh khin meh; paar utaaranahaar |2|
ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
In an instant, God saves us, and carries us across. ||2||
ਅਨਿਕ ਬੰਧਨ; ਤੋਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
anik bandhan; tore nahee jaeh |
ਘਨੇਰੇ ਹਨ ਜ਼ੰਜੀਰ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਟੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ।
There are so many bonds, they cannot be broken.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮ; ਮੁਕਤਿ ਫਲ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੩॥

ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਮੋਖਸ਼ ਦਾ ਮੇਵਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Remembering the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the fruit of liberation is obtained. ||3||
ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ; ਇਸ ਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
aukat siaanap; is te kachh naeh |
ਇਹ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਯੁਕਤੀ ਜਾ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।
By clever devices, nothing is accomplished.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ; ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਿ ॥੪॥੮੩॥੧੫੨॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਧਾਰ, ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰੇ!
Grant Your Grace to Nanak, that he may sing the Glories of God. ||4||83||152||

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,
Those who obtain the wealth of the Lord's Name
ਬਿਚਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰ; ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥
bichar sansaar; pooran sabh kaam |1|
ਉਹ ਬੇ-ਰੋਕ ਟੌਕ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
move freely in the world; all their affairs are resolved. ||1||
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ; ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
vaddabhaagee; har keeratan gaaeeai |
ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By great good fortune, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are sung.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ; ਤ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ, ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਦ ਬੰਦਾ (ਤੇਰੇ ਜੰਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
O Supreme Lord God, as You give, so do I receive. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ; ਹਿਰਦੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾ।
Enshrine the Lord's Feet within your heart.
ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ; ਚੜਿ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾ ਦੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
Get aboard this boat, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ; ਕਰਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
saadhoo sang; karahu sabh koe |
ਹਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨਾ ਉਚਿੱਤ ਹੈ,
Everyone who joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy,
ਸਦਾ ਕਲਿਆਣ; ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ. ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
sadaa kaliaan; fir dookh. na hoe |3|
ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ, ਤਕਲੀਫ ਦੁਖਾਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ।
obtains eternal peace; pain does not afflict them any longer. ||3||
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ; ਭਜੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
prem bhagat; bhaj gunee nidhaan |
ਪਰੇਮ-ਮਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ।
With loving devotional worship, meditate on the treasure of excellence.
ਨਾਨਕ; ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੮੪॥੧੫੩॥

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, you shall be honored in the Court of the Lord. ||4||84||153||

The Lord, our Friend, is totally pervading the water, the land and the skies.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਬਿਨਸੇ; ਗਾਏ ਗੁਣ ਨੀਤ ॥੧॥

ਸਦਾ ਸਾਈਂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Doubts are dispelled by continually singing the Lord's Glorious Praises. ||1||
ਊਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ; ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਹਰੂਆ ॥

ਜਾਗਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਸੰਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰ ਹੈ।
While rising up, and while lying down in sleep, the Lord is always with you, watching over you.

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
