peeaoo daade kaa; khol dditthaa khajaanaa |
ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬੇ ਦਾ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ,
When I opened it up and gazed upon the treasures of my father and grandfather,
ਤਾ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ; ਭਇਆ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
taa merai man; bheaa nidhaanaa |1|
ਤਦ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤਿਅੰਤ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
then my mind became very happy. ||1||
ਰਤਨ ਲਾਲ; ਜਾ ਕਾ. ਕਛੂ ਨ ਮੋਲੁ ॥
ratan laal; jaa kaa. kachhoo na mol |
ਅਣਮੁੱਲ ਮਾਣਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਵੇਹਰਾ ਨਾਲ,
The storehouse is inexhaustible and immeasurable,
ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ; ਅਖੂਟ ਅਤੋਲ ॥੨॥
bhare bhanddaar; akhoott atol |2|
ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਤੋਸ਼ਾਖਾਨਾ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਅਤੇ ਅਮਾਪ ਹੈ।
Overflowing with priceless jewels and rubies. ||2||
ਖਾਵਹਿ ਖਰਚਹਿ; ਰਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
khaaveh kharacheh; ral mil bhaaee |
ਭਰਾ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਤੇ ਖਰਚਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Siblings of Destiny meet together, and eat and spend,
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ; ਵਧਦੋ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
tott na aavai; vadhado jaaee |3|
ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਨਿਖੁਟਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਤਾ-ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
but these resources do not diminish; they continue to increase. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਇ ॥
kahu naanak; jis masatak lekh likhaae |
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਉਕਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ,
Says Nanak, one who has such destiny written on his forehead,
ਸੁ ਏਤੁ ਖਜਾਨੈ; ਲਇਆ ਰਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੩੧॥੧੦੦॥
su et khajaanai; leaa ralaae |4|31|100|
ਉਹ ਏਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੰਡਾਰਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈਵਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
becomes a partner in these treasures. ||4||31||100||

ਡਰਿ ਡਰਿ ਮਰਤੇ; ਜਬ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
ddar ddar marate; jab jaaneeai door |
ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਰੇਡੇ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਸਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਭੈ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਰ-ਜਿੰਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਾਂ।
I was scared, scared to death, when I thought that He was far away.
ਡਰੁ ਚੂਕਾ; ਦੇਖਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੧॥

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰੀ-ਪੂਰਨ ਤੱਕ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਖੋਫ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
But my fear was removed, when I saw that He is pervading everywhere. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਉ; ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
satigur apane kau; balihaarai |
ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I am a sacrifice to my True Guru.
ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ; ਸਰਪਰ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
chhodd na jaaee; sarapar taarai |1| rahaau |
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸਚਿੱਤ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
He shall not abandon me; He shall surely carry me across. ||1||Pause||
ਦੂਖੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਸੋਗੁ; ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਬ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
dookh rog sog; bisarai jab naam |
ਅਪਦਾ, ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Pain, disease and sorrow come when one forgets the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ; ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਮੁ ॥੨॥
sadaa anand; jaa har gun gaam |2|
ਜਦ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Eternal bliss comes when one sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ; ਕੋਈ ਨ ਕਹੀਜੈ ॥
buraa bhalaa; koee na kaheejai |
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਜਾ ਉਸਤਤੀ ਨ ਕਰ।
Do not say that anyone is good or bad.
ਛੋਡਿ ਮਾਨੁ; ਹਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਗਹੀਜੈ ॥੩॥
chhodd maan; har charan gaheejai |3|
ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਕੜ।
Renounce your arrogant pride, and grasp the Feet of the Lord. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ॥
kahu naanak; gur mantru chitaar |
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ!
Says Nanak, remember the GurMantra;
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ; ਸਾਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੩੨॥੧੦੧॥
sukh paaveh; saachai darabaar |4|32|101|
ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
you shall find peace at the True Court. ||4||32||101||

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮੀਤੁ; ਸਾਜਨੁ ਹੈ ਸਮੀਆ ॥
jaa kaa meet; saajan hai sameea |
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਦੋਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਯਾਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ,
Those who have the Lord as their Friend and Companion
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ; ਕਹੁ ਕਾ ਕੀ ਕਮੀਆ ॥੧॥
tis jan kau; kahu kaa kee kameea |1|
ਦਸੋ ਉਸ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਚੀਜ ਦਾ ਘਾਟਾ ਹੈ?
- tell me, what else do they need? ||1||
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ; ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
jaa kee preet; gobind siau laagee |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਆਮਲ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ,
Those who are in love with the Lord of the Universe
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ; ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dookh darad bhram; taa kaa bhaagee |1| rahaau |
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ, ਪੀੜਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਹਿਮ ਦੌੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
- pain, suffering and doubt run away from them. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕਉ. ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ; ਹੈ ਆਇਓ ॥
jaa kau. ras har ras; hai aaeo |
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
Those who have enjoyed the flavor of the Lord's sublime essence
ਸੋ ਅਨ ਰਸ; ਨਾਹੀ ਲਪਟਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
so an ras; naahee lapattaaeo |2|
ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਭੋਗ-ਬਿਲਾਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਿਮੜਦਾ।
are not attracted to any other pleasures. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ; ਦਰਗਹ ਚਲੈ ॥
jaa kaa kahiaa; daragah chalai |
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those whose speech is accepted in the Court of the Lord
ਸੋ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ; ਨਦਰਿ ਲੈ ਆਵੈ ਤਲੈ ॥੩॥
so kis kau; nadar lai aavai talai |3|
ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਕੀਹਦੀ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ?
- what do they care about anything else? ||3||
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ; ਤਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
jaa kaa sabh kichh; taa kaa hoe |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ,
Those who belong to the One, unto whom all things belong
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਉ; ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੧੦੨॥
naanak taa kau; sadaa sukh hoe |4|33|102|
ਸਦੀਵੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ।

ਜੋ ਗਮ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those who look alike upon pleasure and pain
ਤਾ ਕਉ; ਕਾੜਾ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥੧॥
taa kau; kaarraa kahaa biaapai |1|
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਕਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਿਮੜ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
- how can anxiety touch them? ||1||
ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦ; ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
sehaj anand; har saadhoo maeh |
ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਸੰਤ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord's Holy Saints abide in celestial bliss.
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ; ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aagiaakaaree; har har raae |1| rahaau |
ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਫਰਮਾਬਰਦਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
They remain obedient to the Lord, the Sovereign Lord King. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ; ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
jaa kai; achint vasai man aae |
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰਹਿਤ ਸਾਈਂ ਆ ਕੇ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those who have the Carefree Lord abiding in their minds
ਤਾ ਕਉ; ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੨॥
taa kau; chintaa katahoon naeh |2|
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਕਰ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ।
- no cares will ever bother them. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕੈ; ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
jaa kai; binasio man te bharamaa |
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੋਂ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
Those who have banished doubt from their minds
ਤਾ ਕੈ; ਕਛੂ ਨਾਹੀ ਡਰੁ ਜਮਾ ॥੩॥
taa kai; kachhoo naahee ddar jamaa |3|
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਭੌਰਾ ਭੀ ਭੈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ।
are not afraid of death at all. ||3||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ; ਦੀਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
jaa kai hiradai; deeo gur naamaa |
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਹਕਰਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
Those whose hearts are filled with the Lord's Name by the Guru
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੩੪॥੧੦੩॥
kahu naanak; taa kai sagal nidhaanaa |4|34|103|
ਉਹ ਸਮੂਹ ਖਜਾਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਅਗਾਧ ਸਰੂਪ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord of Unfathomable Form has His Place in the mind.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
gur prasaad; kinai viralai jaanaa |1|
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਟਾਵਾਂ ਜਣਾ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
By Guru's Grace, a rare few come to understand this. ||1||
ਸਹਜ ਕਥਾ ਕੇ; ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਕੁੰਟਾ ॥
sehaj kathaa ke; amrit kunttaa |
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਧਰਮ-ਵਾਰਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਦੇ ਤਾਲਾਬ ਹਨ।
The Ambrosial Pools of the celestial sermon
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ; ਤਿਸੁ ਲੈ ਭੁੰਚਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jiseh paraapat; tis lai bhunchaa |1| rahaau |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਕ ਰਸਾਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
- those who find them, drink them in. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਹਤ ਬਾਣੀ; ਥਾਨੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ॥
anahat baanee; thaan niraalaa |
(ਦਸਵੇਂ ਦੁਆਰ ਦੇ) ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਗੂੰਜਦਾ ਹੈ।
The unstruck melody of the Guru's Bani vibrates in that most special place.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਧੁਨਿ; ਮੋਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥੨॥
taa kee dhun; mohe gopaalaa |2|
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੁਰੀਲੇਪਣ ਨਾਲ ਆਲਮ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਪੋਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Lord of the World is fascinated with this melody. ||2||
ਤਹ ਸਹਜ ਅਖਾਰੇ; ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੰਤਾ ॥
teh sehaj akhaare; anek anantaa |
ਉਥੇ ਨਾਨਾ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਆਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਹਨ।
The numerous, countless places of celestial peace
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਸੰਗੀ ਸੰਤਾ ॥੩॥
paarabraham ke sangee santaa |3|
ਉਥੇ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀ, ਸਾਧੂ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
- there, the Saints dwell, in the Company of the Supreme Lord God. ||3||
ਹਰਖ ਅਨੰਤ; ਸੋਗ ਨਹੀ ਬੀਆ ॥
harakh anant; sog nahee beea |
ਉਥੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਜਾ ਦਵੇਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ।
There is infinite joy, and no sorrow or duality.
ਸੋ ਘਰੁ; ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ॥੪॥੩੫॥੧੦੪॥
so ghar; gur naanak kau deea |4|35|104|
ਉਹ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ।
The Guru has blessed Nanak with this home. ||4||35||104||
