ਕੱਲਮਕੱਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ! ਕੱਲਮਕੱਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।

You alone, Lord, You alone. ||2||

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

First Mehl:

ਨਾਂ ਨਿਆਇਕਾਰੀ, ਨਾਂ ਦਾਤੇ, ਨਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ,

Neither the just, nor the generous, nor any humans at all,

ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਤ ਲੋਅ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ।

Nor the seven realms beneath the earth, shall remain.

ਕੇਵਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

The One Lord alone exists. Who else is there?

ਕੱਲਮਕੱਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ! ਕੱਲਮਕੱਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।

You alone, Lord, You alone. ||3||

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

First Mehl:

ਨਾਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਦਰਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੁਰੀਆਂ,

Neither the sun, nor the moon, nor the planets,

ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਤ ਬਰਿ-ਆਜਮ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ,

Nor the seven continents, nor the oceans,

ਅਨਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾ ਦੇ ਸਣੇ, ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ।

Nor food, nor the wind-nothing is permanent.

ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।

You alone, Lord, You alone. ||4||

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

First Mehl:

ਉਪਜੀਵਕਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

Our sustenance is not in the hands of any person.

ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਊਮੀਦ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ।

The hopes of all rest in the One Lord.

ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

The One Lord alone exists-who else is there?

ਕੱਲਮਕੱਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ! ਕੱਲਮਕੱਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।

You alone, Lord, You alone. ||5||

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

First Mehl:

ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੰਢ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਲ ਧਨ ਨਹੀਂ।

The birds have no money in their pockets.

ਊਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਛਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਉਮੀਦ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।

They place their hopes on trees and water.

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

He alone is the Giver.

ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

You alone, Lord, You alone. ||6||

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

First Mehl:

ਨਾਨਕ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ,

O Nanak, that destiny which is pre-ordained and written on one's forehead

ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।

no one can erase it.

ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਸਥਾਪਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਲੈ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord infuses strength, and He takes it away again.

ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ!

You alone, O Lord, You alone. ||7||

ਪਾਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

True is the Hukam of Your Command. To the Gurmukh, it is known.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਗੁਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਞਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, selfishness and conceit are eradicated, and the Truth is realized.

ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

True is Your Court. It is proclaimed and revealed through the Word of the Shabad.

ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਤ ਪੁਰਖ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।

Meditating deeply on the True Word of the Shabad, I have merged into the Truth.

ਆਪ ਹੁਦਰੇ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਝੂਠੇ ਹਨ, ਵਹਿਮ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ।

The self-willed manmukhs are always false; they are deluded by doubt.

ਗੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਹੈ। ਊਹ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।

They dwell in manure, and they do not know the taste of the Name.

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Without the Name, they suffer the agonies of coming and going.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਕਰਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਨਕਲੀ ਤੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਞਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, the Lord Himself is the Appraiser, who distinguishes the counterfeit from the genuine. ||13||

ਸਲੋਕ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Salok, First Mehl:

ਸ਼ੇਰਾਂ, ਬਾਜਾਂ, ਇੱਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਹਿਰੀਆਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਘਾਸ ਖੁਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Tigers, hawks, falcons and eagles-the Lord could make them eat grass.

ਜੋ ਘਾਸ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਗੋਸਤ ਖੁਆ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਉਹ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

And those animals which eat grass-He could make them eat meat. He could make them follow this way of life.

ਉਹ ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਚੇ ਟਿੱਲੇ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਰੇਗਿਸਤਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਅਥਾਹ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He could raise dry land from the rivers, and turn the deserts into bottomless oceans.

ਇੱਕ ਕੀਟ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਸਥਾਪਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਫੌਜ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਰਾਖ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He could appoint a worm as king, and reduce an army to ashes.

ਸਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਧਾਰੀ ਸਵਾਸ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਵਾਸ ਤਦ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਜਿਉਂਣਾ ਚਾਹੇ?

All beings and creatures live by breathing, but He could keep us alive, even without the breath.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਊਹ ਰੋਜੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, as it pleases the True Lord, He gives us sustenance. ||1||

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

First Mehl:

ਕਈ ਗੋਸਤ ਖਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਘਾਹ ਫੂਸ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Some eat meat, while others eat grass.

ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਿਆਮਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੈਨ।

Some have all the thirty-six varieties of delicacies,

ਕਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

while others live in the dirt and eat mud.

ਕਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਯਾਮ ਦੇ ਅਭਿਲਾਸੀ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਸ ਗਿਣਦੇ ਹਨ।

Some control the breath, and regulate their breathing.

ਕਈ ਆਕਾਰ ਰਹਿਤ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਜਾਰੀ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।

Some live by the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Formless Lord.

ਦਾਤਾਰ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਥੋੜੇ ਕਰਨ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰਦਾ।

The Great Giver lives; no one dies.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਊਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਉਹ ਠੱਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, those who do not enshrine the Lord within their minds are deluded. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ।

Pauree:

ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

By the karma of good actions, some come to serve the Perfect Guru.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਊਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਆ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, some eliminate selfishness and conceit, and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਹੋਰਸ ਕੰਮਕਾਜ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੰਞਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Undertaking any other task, they waste their lives in vain.

ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਜੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਜੋ ਆਦਮੀ ਪਹਿਨਦਾ ਤੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਹਿਰ ਹੈ।

Without the Name, all that they wear and eat is poison.

ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਵਿੰਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Praising the True Word of the Shabad, they merge with the True Lord.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Without serving the True Guru, they do not obtain the home of peace; they are consigned to reincarnation, over and over again.

ਝੂਠੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਝੂਠ ਦੀ ਖੱਟੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।

Investing counterfeit capital, they earn only falsehood in the world.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਇਜਤ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, singing the Praises of the Pure, True Lord, they depart with honor. ||14||

ਸਲੋਕ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Salok, First Mehl:

ਜਦ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੰਗੀਤਕ ਸਾਜ ਵਜਾਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਦ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

When it pleases You, we play music and sing; when it pleases You, we bathe in water.
