Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਚੁਰਾਸੀ ਲੰਖ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਧਾਰੀ ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।

He created the 8.4 million species of beings.

ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace, come to meet the Guru.

ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਰਤੀਮਾਨ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

Shedding their sins, His servants are forever pure; at the True Court, they are beautified by the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||6||

ਜਦ ਹਿਸਾਬ-ਕਿਤਾਬ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਉਦੋਂ ਕੌਣ ਦੇ ਸਕੇਗਾ?

When they are called to settle their accounts, who will answer then?

ਤਦੋਂ ਦੋ ਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗਿਣ (ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦੇਣ) ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣੀ।

There shall be no peace then, from counting out by twos and threes.

ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਮਾਫੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਫ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The True Lord God Himself forgives, and having forgiven, He unites them with Himself. ||7||

ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself does, and He Himself causes all to be done.

ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru, He is met.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਬਜੁਰਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮਾਲਕ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, through the Naam, greatness is obtained. He Himself unites in His Union. ||8||2||3||

ਮਾਝ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਖੁਦ ਬ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਵਿਚਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

The One Lord Himself moves about imperceptibly.

ਜੇਕਰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਲਵਾਂ ਤਦ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਤਰੋਤਾਜਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

As Gurmukh, I see Him, and then this mind is pleased and uplifted.

ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।

Renouncing desire, I have found intuitive peace and poise; I have enshrined the One within my mind. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਘੋਲੀ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਜਾਨ ਘੋਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਊਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ।

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who focus their consciousness on the One.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਊਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੂਆ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਰੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, my mind has come to its only home; it is imbued with the True Color of the Lord's Love. ||1||Pause||

ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਗਲਤ ਮਾਰਗ ਤੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

This world is deluded; You Yourself have deluded it.

ਇੱਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਚਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

Forgetting the One, it has become engrossed in duality.

ਰੈਨ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਇਹ ਵਹਿਮ ਦਾ ਬਹਿਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਊਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Night and day, it wanders around endlessly, deluded by doubt; without the Name, it suffers in pain. ||2||

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹਨ,

Those who are attuned to the Love of the Lord, the Architect of Destiny

ਊਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਚਾਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

by serving the Guru, they are known throughout the four ages.

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪੇ ਬਜੁਰਗੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਊਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those, upon whom the Lord bestows greatness, are absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||3||

ਧਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

Being in love with Maya, they do not think of the Lord.

ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਕੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਊਹ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they suffer in terrible pain.

ਮਨਾਖਾ ਤੇ ਡੋਰਾ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕੂਲ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੈ, ਊਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਊਹ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਗਲ ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Blind and deaf, they see nothing at all; the self-willed manmukhs rot away in sin. ||4||

ਕਈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

Those, whom You attach to Your Love, are attuned to Your Love.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਊਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!

Through loving devotional worship, they become pleasing to Your Mind.

ਉਹ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ, ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਾਮਨਾਵਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

They serve the True Guru, the Giver of eternal peace, and all their desires are fulfilled. ||5||

ਮੇਰੇ ਪੂਜਯ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

O Dear Lord, I seek Your Sanctuary forever.

ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਫ ਕਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਮਾਨਪ੍ਰਤਿਸ਼ਟਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

You Yourself forgive us, and bless us with Glorious Greatness.

ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਦੂਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Messenger of Death does not draw near those who meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||6||

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਊਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Night and day, they are attuned to His Love; they are pleasing to the Lord.

ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

My God merges with them, and unites them in Union.

ਸਦੀਵ ਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ, ਹੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।

Forever and ever, O True Lord, I seek the Protection of Your Sanctuary; You Yourself inspire us to understand the Truth. ||7||

ਜੋ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who know the Truth are absorbed in Truth.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਊਹ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ।

They sing the Lord's Glorious Praises, and speak the Truth.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam remain unattached and balanced; in the home of the inner self, they are absorbed in the primal trance of deep meditation. ||8||3||4||

ਮਾਝ, ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਊਹ ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who dies in the Word of the Shabad is truly dead.

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੁਚਲਦੀ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਦੁਖੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Death does not crush him, and pain does not afflict him.

ਜਦ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਪਰਮ ਚਾਨਣ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

His light merges and is absorbed into the Light, when he hears and merges in the Truth. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਊਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਊਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to the Lord's Name, which brings us to glory.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਊਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

One who serves the True Guru, and focuses his consciousness on Truth, following the Guru's Teachings, is absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. ||1||Pause||

ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੋਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਦੀ ਹੈ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਨਦੀ ਹੈ।

This human body is transitory, and transitory are the garments it wears.

ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

Attached to duality, no one attains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
