ਚਿਤਿ. ਨ ਆਇਓ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ; ਤਾ ਖੜਿ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਦੀਤ ॥੭॥
chit. na aaeo paarabraham; taa kharr rasaatal deet |7|
ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਜੇਕਰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਉੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕੁੰਭੀ ਨਰਕ ਸੁਟ ਦਿਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
But still, if you do not come to remember the Supreme Lord God, then you shall be taken and consigned to the most hideous hell! ||7||
ਕਾਇਆ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਛਿਦ੍ਰੁ ਕਿਛੁ; ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਾੜਾ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
kaaeaa rog na chhidru kichh; naa kichh kaarraa sog |
ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਬੀਮਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਨੁਕਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੇਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਦਿਲ ਦਾ ਸਾੜਾ ਤੇ ਗ਼ਮ ਨਾਂ ਹੋਵੇ।
You may have a body free of disease and deformity, and have no worries or grief at all;
ਮਿਰਤੁ. ਨ ਆਵੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਸੁ; ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭੋਗੈ ਭੋਗੁ ॥
mirat. na aavee chit tis; ahinis bhogai bhog |
ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਤੱਕ ਭੀ ਨਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਰੈਣ ਮੌਜ ਬਹਾਰਾ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
you may be unmindful of death, and night and day revel in pleasures;
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਆਪਣਾ; ਜੀਇ. ਨ ਸੰਕ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
sabh kichh keeton aapanaa; jee. na sank dhariaa |
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਭੀ ਨਾਂ ਹੋਵੇ।
you may take everything as your own, and have no fear in your mind at all;
ਚਿਤਿ. ਨ ਆਇਓ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ; ਜਮਕੰਕਰ ਵਸਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥੮॥
chit. na aaeo paarabraham; jamakankar vas pariaa |8|
ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਉਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਦੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਜਾਏਗਾ।
but still, if you do not come to remember the Supreme Lord God, you shall fall under the power of the Messenger of Death. ||8||
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ; ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
kirapaa kare jis paarabraham; hovai saadhoo sang |
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਉਤਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਨਿਛਾਵਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The Supreme Lord showers His Mercy, and we find the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਓਹੁ ਵਧਾਈਐ; ਤਿਉ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
jiau jiau ohu vadhaaeeai; tiau tiau har siau rang |
ਜਿੰਨਾ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਉਹ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਨਾ ਹੀ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The more time we spend there, the more we come to love the Lord.
ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਕਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਆਪਿ; ਅਵਰੁ. ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਥਾਉ ॥
duhaa siriaa kaa khasam aap; avar. na doojaa thaau |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੁਦ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਿਨਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਸਰੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ।
The Lord is the Master of both worlds; there is no other place of rest.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੁਠੈ ਪਾਇਆ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੯॥੧॥੨੬॥
satigur tutthai paaeaa; naanak. sachaa naau |9|1|26|
ਜਦ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਪਰਮ-ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When the True Guru is pleased and satisfied, O Nanak, the True Name is obtained. ||9||1||26||

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl, Fifth House:
ਜਾਨਉ ਨਹੀ; ਭਾਵੈ ਕਵਨ ਬਾਤਾ ॥
jaanau nahee; bhaavai kavan baataa |
ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਚੰਗੀਆਂ ਲਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਹੈ ਮਾਲਕ!
I do not know what pleases my Lord.
ਮਨ; ਖੋਜਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man; khoj maarag |1| rahaau |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਭਾਲ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
O mind, seek out the way! ||1||Pause||
ਧਿਆਨੀ; ਧਿਆਨੁ ਲਾਵਹਿ ॥
dhiaanee; dhiaan laaveh |
ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The meditatives practice meditation,
ਗਿਆਨੀ; ਗਿਆਨੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ॥
giaanee; giaan kamaaveh |
ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਬੇਤਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਦਾ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
and the wise practice spiritual wisdom,
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ; ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਜਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
prabh; kin hee jaataa |1|
ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
but how rare are those who know God! ||1||
ਭਗਉਤੀ; ਰਹਤ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥
bhgautee; rehat jugataa |
ਉਪਾਸ਼ਕ ਜ਼ਾਬਤੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The worshipper of Bhagaauti practices self-discipline,
ਜੋਗੀ ਕਹਤ; ਮੁਕਤਾ ॥
jogee kehat; mukataa |
ਯੋਗੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬੰਦ-ਖਲਾਸ ਹੈ।
the Yogi speaks of liberation,
ਤਪਸੀ; ਤਪਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੨॥
tapasee; tapeh raataa |2|
ਕਰੜੀ ਘਾਲ ਘਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਰੜੀ ਘਾਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੈ।
and the ascetic is absorbed in asceticism. ||2||
ਮੋਨੀ; ਮੋਨਿਧਾਰੀ ॥
monee; monidhaaree |
ਚੁੱਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The men of silence observe silence,
ਸਨਿਆਸੀ; ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ॥
saniaasee; brahamachaaree |
ਇਕਾਂਤੀ ਜਤੀ ਹੈ।
the Sanyaasees observe celibacy,
ਉਦਾਸੀ; ਉਦਾਸਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੩॥
audaasee; udaas raataa |3|
ਤਿਆਗੀ ਵੈਰਾਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਹਿਆ ਹੈ।
and the Udaasees abide in detachment. ||3||
ਭਗਤਿ; ਨਵੈ ਪਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
bhagat; navai parakaaraa |
ਉਪਾਸ਼ਕ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਨੌ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੈ।
There are nine forms of devotional worship.
ਪੰਡਿਤੁ; ਵੇਦੁ ਪੁਕਾਰਾ ॥
panddit; ved pukaaraa |
ਪੰਡਤ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Pandits recite the Vedas.
ਗਿਰਸਤੀ; ਗਿਰਸਤਿ ਧਰਮਾਤਾ ॥੪॥
girasatee; girasat dharamaataa |4|
ਕਬੀਲਦਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਘਰਬਾਰੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਈਮਾਨ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
The householders assert their faith in family life. ||4||
ਇਕ ਸਬਦੀ; ਬਹੁ ਰੂਪਿ ਅਵਧੂਤਾ ॥
eik sabadee; bahu roop avadhootaa |
ਇਕ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ (ਅਲਖ) ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਬਹੁਰੂਪੀਆਂ ਨਾਂਗਾ!
Those who utter only One Word, those who take many forms, the naked renunciates,
ਕਾਪੜੀ; ਕਉਤੇ ਜਾਗੂਤਾ ॥
kaaparree; kaute jaagootaa |
ਗੌਦੜੀ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸਾਂਗ-ਧਾਰੀ, ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ।
the wearers of patched coats, the magicians, those who remain always awake,
ਇਕਿ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਤਾ ॥੫॥
eik teerath naataa |5|
ਯਾਤ੍ਰਾ-ਅਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨੀ।
and those who bathe at holy places of pilgrimage-||5||
ਨਿਰਹਾਰ ਵਰਤੀ; ਆਪਰਸਾ ॥
nirahaar varatee; aaparasaa |
ਭੋਜਨ ਬਿਨਾ ਵਿਚਰਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਂ ਲਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ।
Those who go without food, those who never touch others,
ਇਕਿ ਲੂਕਿ; ਨ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਦਰਸਾ ॥
eik look; na deveh darasaa |
ਇਕ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ।
the hermits who never show themselves,
ਇਕਿ; ਮਨ ਹੀ ਗਿਆਤਾ ॥੬॥
eik; man hee giaataa |6|
ਇਕ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ।
and those who are wise in their own minds-||6||
ਘਾਟਿ; ਨ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਕਹਾਇਆ ॥
ghaatt; na kin hee kahaaeaa |
ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਘੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦਾ।
Of these, no one admits to any deficiency;
ਸਭ ਕਹਤੇ ਹੈ; ਪਾਇਆ ॥
sabh kahate hai; paaeaa |
ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
all say that they have found the Lord.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮੇਲੇ; ਸੋ ਭਗਤਾ ॥੭॥
jis mele; so bhagataa |7|
ਉਹੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
But he alone is a devotee, whom the Lord has united with Himself. ||7||
ਸਗਲ; ਉਕਤਿ ਉਪਾਵਾ ॥
sagal; ukat upaavaa |
ਸਮੂਹ ਜੁਗਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ,
Abandoning all devices and contrivances,
ਤਿਆਗੀ; ਸਰਨਿ ਪਾਵਾ ॥
tiaagee; saran paavaa |
ਛਡ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
I have sought His Sanctuary.
ਨਾਨਕੁ; ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣਿ ਪਰਾਤਾ ॥੮॥੨॥੨੭॥
naanak; gur charan paraataa |8|2|27|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।
Nanak has fallen at the Feet of the Guru. ||8||2||27||
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ, ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ੩ ॥

ਜੋਗੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ; ਜੋਗੀਆ ॥
jogee andar; jogeea |
ਯੋਗੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਯੋਗੀ ਹੈ,
Among Yogis, You are the Yogi;
ਤੂੰ ਭੋਗੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ; ਭੋਗੀਆ ॥
toon bhogee andar; bhogeea |
ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ।
among pleasure seekers, You are the Pleasure Seeker.
ਤੇਰਾ. ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ; ਸੁਰਗਿ ਮਛਿ ਪਇਆਲਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
teraa. ant na paaeaa; surag machh peaal jeeo |1|
ਹੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ! ਬਹਿਸ਼ਤ ਇਸ ਜਹਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਓੜਕ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
Your limits are not known to any of the beings in the heavens, in this world, or in the nether regions of the underworld. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ. ਹਉ ਵਾਰਣੈ; ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਵ ਨੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau vaaree. hau vaaranai; kurabaan tere naav no |1| rahaau |
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਉਤੋਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਨੇ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
I am devoted, dedicated, a sacrifice to Your Name. ||1||Pause||
ਤੁਧੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
tudh sansaar upaaeaa |
ਤੂੰ ਜਹਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ,
You created the world,
ਸਿਰੇ ਸਿਰਿ; ਧੰਧੇ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
sire sir; dhandhe laaeaa |
ਤੇ ਹਰ ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਮ-ਕਾਜੇ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
and assigned tasks to one and all.
ਵੇਖਹਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ; ਕਰਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਪਾਸਾ ਢਾਲਿ. ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
vekheh keetaa aapanaa; kar kudarat paasaa dtaal. jeeo |2|
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਪਾਰ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਰਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
You watch over Your Creation, and through Your All-powerful Creative Potency, You cast the dice. ||2||
ਪਰਗਟਿ; ਪਾਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਪਦਾ ॥
paragatt; paahaarai jaapadaa |
ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਰਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ।
You are manifest in the Expanse of Your Workshop.
ਸਭੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨੋ; ਪਰਤਾਪਦਾ ॥
sabh naavai no; parataapadaa |
ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ।
Everyone longs for Your Name,
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝੁ. ਨ ਪਾਇਓ; ਸਭ ਮੋਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਾਲਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
satigur baajh. na paaeo; sabh mohee maaeaa jaal jeeo |3|
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ। ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੇ ਫੰਧੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਹੋ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
but without the Guru, no one finds You. All are enticed and trapped by Maya. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ; ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
satigur kau; bal jaaeeai |
ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
I am a sacrifice to the True Guru.
ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ; ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
jit miliai; param gat paaeeai |
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Meeting Him, the supreme status is obtained.
