ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗਹਿਰ ਗਭੀਰੁ ਹੈ; ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ. ਅਘਖੰਡੁ ॥
satigur gahir gabheer hai; sukh saagar. aghakhandd |
ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਦਾ ਡੂੰਘਾ ਤੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।
The True Guru is the Deep and Profound Ocean of Peace, the Destroyer of sin.
ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ; ਜਮਦੂਤ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਡੰਡੁ ॥
jin gur seviaa aapanaa; jamadoot na laagai ddandd |
ਜਿਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਫਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ।
For those who serve their Guru, there is no punishment at the hands of the Messenger of Death.
ਗੁਰ ਨਾਲਿ ਤੁਲਿ. ਨ ਲਗਈ; ਖੋਜਿ ਡਿਠਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡੁ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਆਲਮ ਢੂੰਡ ਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
There is none to compare with the Guru; I have searched and looked throughout the entire universe.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ; ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ. ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਮੰਡੁ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੯੦॥

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਰਾਮ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
The True Guru has bestowed the Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. O Nanak, the mind is filled with peace. ||4||20||90||

ਮਿਠਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਖਾਇਆ; ਕਉੜਾ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸਾਦੁ ॥
mitthaa kar kai khaaeaa; kaurraa upajiaa saad |
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿੱਠੜੇ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ, (ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ) ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਸੁਆਦ ਤੁਰਸ਼ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
People eat what they believe to be sweet, but it turns out to be bitter in taste.
ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਰਿਦ ਕੀਏ; ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਚਿਆ ਬਾਦੁ ॥
bhaaee meet surid kee; bikhiaa rachiaa baad |
ਬੇਹੂਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਰਾਵਾ ਤੇ ਯਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੌਹ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਚਤ ਹੋਣਾ।
They attach their affections to brothers and friends, uselessly engrossed in corruption.
ਜਾਂਦੇ ਬਿਲਮ. ਨ ਹੋਵਈ; ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ. ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ॥੧॥
jaande bilam. na hovee; vin naavai. bisamaad |1|
ਅਲੋਪ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਇਹ ਢਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ। ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਬੰਦਾ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੌਰ-ਭੌਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They vanish without a moment's delay; without God's Name, they are stunned and amazed. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ; ਸਤਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੁ ॥
mere man; satagur kee sevaa laag |
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੋੜ।
O my mind, attach yourself to the service of the True Guru.
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ. ਸੋ ਵਿਣਸਣਾ; ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo deesai. so vinasanaa; man kee mat tiaag |1| rahaau |
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗਾ। ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਦੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
Whatever is seen, shall pass away. Abandon the intellectualizations of your mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਉ ਕੂਕਰੁ ਹਰਕਾਇਆ; ਧਾਵੈ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਜਾਇ ॥
jiau kookar harakaaeaa; dhaavai deh dis jaae |
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਲਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਦੱਸੀ (ਸਾਰਿਆਂ) ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭੱਜਦਾ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Like the mad dog running around in all directions,
ਲੋਭੀ ਜੰਤੁ. ਨ ਜਾਣਈ; ਭਖੁ ਅਭਖੁ ਸਭ ਖਾਇ ॥
lobhee jant. na jaanee; bhakh abhakh sabh khaae |
ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਾਲਚੀ ਜੀਵ ਕੁਛ ਭੀ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਖਾਣ-ਯੋਗ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਖਾਣ ਯੋਗ ਸਮੂਹ ਹੜੱਪ ਕਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
the greedy person, unaware, consumes everything, edible and non-edible alike.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਦਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ; ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
kaam krodh mad biaapiaa; fir fir jonee paae |2|
ਜੋ ਭੋਗ-ਇਛਾ, ਗੁੱਸੇ ਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਲਤਾਨ ਹੈ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Engrossed in the intoxication of sexual desire and anger, people wander through reincarnation over and over again. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਜਾਲੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਆ; ਭੀਤਰਿ ਚੋਗ ਬਣਾਇ ॥
maaeaa jaal pasaariaa; bheetar chog banaae |
ਮੋਹਣੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਖਿਲਾਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਚੋਗਾ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
Maya has spread out her net, and in it, she has placed the bait.
ਤਿ੍ਰਸਨਾ ਪੰਖੀ ਫਾਸਿਆ; ਨਿਕਸੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਮਾਇ ॥
trisanaa pankhee faasiaa; nikas na paae maae |
ਲਾਲਚੀ ਪੰਛੀ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਕਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਤਾ!
The bird of desire is caught, and cannot find any escape, O my mother.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤਾ. ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ; ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
jin keetaa. tiseh na jaanee; fir fir aavai jaae |3|
ਇਨਸਾਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ (ਸਿਮਰਦਾ) ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who does not know the Lord who created him, comes and goes in reincarnation over and over again. ||3||
ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੀ ਮੋਹਿਆ; ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
anik prakaaree mohiaa; bahu bidh ihu sansaar |
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਰੇਫ਼ਤਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
By various devices, and in so many ways, this world is enticed.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਰਖੈ. ਸੋ ਰਹੈ; ਸੰਮਿ੍ਰਥੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
jis no rakhai. so rahai; samrith purakh apaar |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਰਛਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They alone are saved, whom the All-powerful, Infinite Lord protects.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ. ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਉਧਰੇ; ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੯੧॥
har jan. har liv udhare; naanak sad balihaar |4|21|91|
ਨਾਨਕ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲਿਆਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
The servants of the Lord are saved by the Love of the Lord. O Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice to them. ||4||21||91||

ਜਦ ਇਕ ਚਰਵਾਹਾ ਚਰਾਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਥੇ ਆਡੰਬਰੀ ਖਿਲਾਰੇ ਰਚਨ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਲਾਭ?
The herdsman comes to the pasture lands-what good are his ostentatious displays here?
ਮੁਹਲਤਿ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਚਲਣਾ; ਤੂੰ ਸੰਮਲੁ. ਘਰ ਬਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
muhalat punee chalanaa; toon samal. ghar baar |1|
ਜਦ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਮਾਂ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਨਿਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਏਗਾ, (ਹੇ ਵਾਗੀ!) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਘਰ-ਘਾਟ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰ।
When your allotted time is up, you must go. Take care of your real hearth and home. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ਮਨਾ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
har gun gaau manaa; satigur sev piaar |
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟਤਾਈਆਂ ਗਾਹਿਨ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾ।
O mind, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and serve the True Guru with love.
ਕਿਆ ਥੋੜੜੀ ਬਾਤ; ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kiaa thorrarree baat; gumaan |1| rahaau |
ਤੂੰ ਤੁਛ ਗੱਲ ਤੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ? ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
Why do you take pride in trivial matters? ||1||Pause||
ਜੈਸੇ ਰੈਣਿ ਪਰਾਹੁਣੇ; ਉਠਿ ਚਲਸਹਿ ਪਰਭਾਤਿ ॥
jaise rain paraahune; utth chalaseh parabhaat |
ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਮਿਹਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਬ੍ਹਾ-ਸਵੇਰੇ ਖੜਾ ਹੋ ਤੁਰ ਪਵੇਗਾ।
Like an overnight guest, you shall arise and depart in the morning.
ਕਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਸਿਉ; ਸਭ ਫੁਲਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਗਾਤਿ ॥੨॥

ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਟੱਬਰ ਕਬੀਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਮਸਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਹਿਆ ਹੈ? ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਬਗੀਚੀ ਦੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਛਿਨ-ਭੰਗਰ ਹੈ।
Why are you so attached to your household? It is all like flowers in the garden. ||2||
ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ; ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ. ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲੋੜਿ ॥

ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ, "ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਹੈ, ਔਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਹੈ।" ਉਸ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ।
Why do you say, "Mine, mine"? Look to God, who has given it to you.
ਸਰਪਰ ਉਠੀ ਚਲਣਾ; ਛਡਿ ਜਾਸੀ. ਲਖ ਕਰੋੜਿ ॥੩॥
sarapar utthee chalanaa; chhadd jaasee. lakh karorr |3|
ਤੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਨਿਸਚਤ ਹੀ ਖੜਾ ਹੋ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਏਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ (ਰੁਪਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਛੱਡ ਜਾਏਗਾ।
It is certain that you must arise and depart, and leave behind your hundreds of thousands and millions. ||3||
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਭ੍ਰਮਤਿਆ; ਦੁਲਭ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਾਇਓਇ ॥
lakh chauraaseeh bhramatiaa; dulabh janam paaeoe |
ਚੁਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕਣ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ-ਹੱਥ-ਲੱਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ-ਜੀਵਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
Through 8.4 million incarnations you have wandered, to obtain this rare and precious human life.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ; ਸੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਨੇੜਾ ਆਇਓਇ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੯੨॥

ਨਾਨਕ, ਤੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਕੁਚ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the day of departure is drawing near! ||4||22||92||

ਜਦ ਤਾਈਂ ਭਉਰ, ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸੰਗੀ, ਦੇਹਿ ਦੇ ਸਾਥ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਤਾਈਂ ਇਹ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
As long as the soul-companion is with the body, it dwells in happiness.
ਜਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਉਠੀ ਚਲਿਆ; ਤਾ ਧਨ ਖਾਕੂ ਰਾਲਿ ॥੧॥
jaa saathee utthee chaliaa; taa dhan khaakoo raal |1|
ਜਦ ਸੰਗੀ ਖੜਾ ਹੋ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਦੇਹਿ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
But when the companion arises and departs, then the body-bride mingles with dust. ||1||
ਮਨਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਭਇਆ; ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਣੈ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥
man bairaag bheaa; darasan dekhanai kaa chaau |
ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੀ ਉਮੰਗ ਹੈ।
My mind has become detached from the world; it longs to see the Vision of God's Darshan.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਥਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਜਿਚਰੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਕੰਤੁ ਘਰਿ; ਜੀਉ ਜੀਉ ਸਭਿ ਕਹਾਤਿ ॥
jichar vasiaa kant ghar; jeeo jeeo sabh kahaat |
ਜਦ ਤੋੜੀ ਭਉਰ ਭਰਤਾ ਦੇਹਿ-ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਜਣਾ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ "ਜੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰ।"
As long as the soul-husband dwells in the body-house, everyone greets you with respect.
ਜਾ ਉਠੀ ਚਲਸੀ ਕੰਤੜਾ; ਤਾ. ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪੁਛੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਤ ॥੨॥
jaa utthee chalasee kantarraa; taa. koe na puchhai teree baat |2|
ਜਦ ਭਉਰ ਭਗਤਾ ਉਠ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਵੇਗਾਂ, ਤਦ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਸਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਣੀ।
But when the soul-husband arises and departs, then no one cares for you at all. ||2||
ਪੇਈਅੜੈ. ਸਹੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਤੂੰ; ਸਾਹੁਰੜੈ. ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸੁ ॥

ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ) ਅੰਦਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਹੁਰੇ-ਘਰ (ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ) ਆਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੁ!
In this world of your parents' home, serve your Husband Lord; in the world beyond, in your in-laws' home, you shall dwell in peace.
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ. ਚਜੁ ਅਚਾਰੁ ਸਿਖੁ; ਤੁਧੁ. ਕਦੇ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਦੁਖੁ ॥੩॥

ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਊਰ ਤੇ ਨੇਕ-ਚਲਣ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਗ਼ਮ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪੇਗਾ।
Meeting with the Guru, be a sincere student of proper conduct, and suffering shall never touch you. ||3||
ਸਭਨਾ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਵੰਞਣਾ ਸਭਿ; ਮੁਕਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥
sabhanaa saahurai vanyanaa sabh; mukalaavanahaar |
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਕੰਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਹ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਰਸਮੀ ਪੱਕੀ ਵਿਦਾਇਗੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਹੈ।
Everyone shall go to their Husband Lord. Everyone shall be given their ceremonial send-off after their marriage.
