ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

All the world continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||3||

ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰ।

In the midst of this world, do seva,

ਤਾਂ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠਨ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ।

and you shall be given a place of honor in the Court of the Lord.

(ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ) ਆਪਦੀ ਭੁਜਾ ਉਲਾਰੇਗਾ, ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ।

Says Nanak, swing your arms in joy! ||4||33||

Siree Raag, Third Mehl, First House:

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੰਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਹਿਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਮੈਂ ਇਕਾਗ੍ਰਤਾ ਤੇ ਮਗਨ-ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਘਾਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ!

I serve my True Guru with single-minded devotion, and lovingly focus my consciousness on Him.

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

The True Guru is the mind's desire and the sacred shrine of pilgrimage, for those unto whom He has given this understanding.

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਤ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਲੋੜੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾਹੈ।

The blessings of the wishes of the mind are obtained, and the fruits of one's desires.

ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਸਾਧ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮ ਅਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ।

Meditate on the Name, worship the Name, and through the Name, you shall be absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. ||1||

ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਨ ਕਰ, ਇੰਜ ਤੇਰੀ ਤਰੇਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

O my mind, drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, and your thirst shall be quenched.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਚਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਸਾਈਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Those Gurmukhs who have tasted it remain intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

Those who serve the True Guru obtain the Treasure of the Naam.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਲ ਤਰੋਤਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Deep within, they are drenched with the Essence of the Lord, and the egotistical pride of the mind is subdued.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਸ਼ਕਰਨ-ਕੰਵਲ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ (ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ) ਅਡੋਲ ਰੂਪ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and they intuitively center themselves in meditation.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮਾਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਨ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Their minds become pure, and they remain immersed in the Lord; they are honored in His Court. ||2||

ਇਸ ਜੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਾਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who serve the True Guru in this world are very rare.

ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮੋਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who keep the Lord enshrined in their hearts subdue egotism and possessiveness.

ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਰਿਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਹੈ।

I am a sacrifice to those who are in love with the Naam.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਚਾਰੇ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who attain the Inexhaustible Name of the Infinite Lord remain happy throughout the four ages. ||3||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੈਟਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੀ ਤਰੇਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Meeting with the Guru, the Naam is obtained, and the thirst of emotional attachment departs.

(ਗੁਰਮੁੱਖ) ਮਾਨਸਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

When the mind is permeated with the Lord, one remains detached within the home of the heart.

ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।

I am a sacrifice to those who enjoy the Sublime Taste of the Lord.

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟਤਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, by His Glance of Grace, the True Name, the Treasure of Excellence, is obtained. ||4||1||34||

ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਭਰਮਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਆਪਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਠੱਗੀ ਠੋਰੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

People wear all sorts of costumes and wander all around, but in their hearts and minds, they practice deception.

ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਘਰ (ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ) ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਗ਼ਰਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

They do not attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and after death, they sink into manure. ||1||

ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ! ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਲੋ ਉਪ੍ਰਾਮ ਰਹੁ।

O mind, remain detached in the midst of your household.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾਈ, ਸਾਧਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਕ ਅਮਲ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Practicing truth, self-discipline and good deeds, the Gurmukh is enlightened. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੁਏ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੋਖ਼ਸ਼ ਤੇ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the mind is conquered, and one attains the State of Liberation in one's own home.

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ।

So meditate on the Name of the Lord; join and merge with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ||2||

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰੀਮਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਨੌ ਖਿੱਤਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਕਰੇ।

You may enjoy the pleasures of hundreds of thousands of women, and rule the nine continents of the world.

ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਏਗਾ।

But without the True Guru, you will not find peace; you will be reincarnated over and over again. ||3||

ਧਨ ਤੇ ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਫਿਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਭੋਰਾ ਭੀ ਚਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ,

Those who wear the Necklace of the Lord around their necks, and focus their consciousness on the Guru's Feet

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਗਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਪਹਿਨਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ।

-wealth and supernatural spiritual powers follow them, but they do not care for such things at all. ||4||

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਝ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੋਰ ਕੁਛ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

Whatever pleases God's Will comes to pass. Nothing else can be done.

ਗੁਲਾਮ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਦਾਤ ਬਖਸ਼।

Servant Nanak lives by chanting the Naam. O Lord, please give it to me, in Your Natural Way. ||5||2||35||
