Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਵਿਸਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਚਤ ਹਨ।

Thse who are in love with duality forget You.

ਬੇ-ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕੂਲ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

The ignorant, self-willed manmukhs are consigned to reincarnation. ||2||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those who are pleasing to the One Lord are assigned

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

to His service and enshrine Him within their minds.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, they are absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||3||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ਵਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who have virtue as their treasure, contemplate spiritual wisdom.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਸ ਸੁਟਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who have virtue as their treasure, subdue egotism.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹਨ।

Nanak is a sacrifice to those who are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||7||27||

ਗਊੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ, ਪਾਤiਾਹੀ ਤੀਜੀ।

Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

ਤੂੰ ਨਾਂ-ਬਿਆਨ ਹੋ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

You are Indescribable; how can I describe You?

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ!

Those who subdue their minds, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, are absorbed in You.

ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

Your Glorious Virtues are countless; their value cannot be estimated. ||1||

ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਉਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਹੈ।

The Word of His Bani belongs to Him; in Him, it is diffused.

ਤੇਰੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਨਾਂ ਵਰਨਣ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Your Speech cannot be spoken; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is chanted. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਥੇ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨਾ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

Where the True Guru is - there is the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.

ਜਿਸ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਬਿਰਾਜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਥੇ ਸੁਤੇ ਸਿੱਧ ਹੀ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Where the True Guru is - there, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are intuitively sung.

ਜਿਥੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾਰਰਾਜ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਥੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Where the True Guru is - there egotism is burnt away, through the Word of the Shabad. ||2||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਖਿਦਮਤ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Gurmukhs serve Him; they obtain a place in the Mansion of His Presence.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Gurmukhs enshrine the Naam within the mind.

ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨੇਕ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Gurmukhs worship the Lord, and are absorbed in the Naam. ||3||

ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਨਹਾਰ ਬਖਸੀਸ਼ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ,

The Giver Himself gives His Gifts,

ਤੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

as we enshrine love for the True Guru.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

Nanak celebrates those who are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||8||28||

ਗਊੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ, ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਤੀਜੀ।

Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

ਅਦੁਤੀ ਸਾਈਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਮੁਹ ਸਰੂਪ ਤੇ ਰੰਗ ਹਨ।

All forms and colors come from the One Lord.

ਹਵਾ ਜਲ ਤੇ ਅੱਗ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕਠੇ ਰਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

Air, water and fire are all kept together.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਡ ਅਡ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord God beholds the many and various colors. ||1||

ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਇਕ ਅਚੰਭਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

The One Lord is wondrous and amazing! He is the One, the One and Only.

ਕੋਈ ਟਾਵਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

How rare is that Gurmukh who meditates on the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਹਿਬ, ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ (ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ) ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

God is naturally pervading all places.

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਐਸੀ ਹਿਕਮਤ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਜ਼ਾਹਰ।

Sometimes He is hidden, and sometimes He is revealed; thus God has made the world of His making.

ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਰੀ ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਂਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਜਗਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself wakes us from sleep. ||2||

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,

No one can estimate His value,

ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਪਰਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਬਿਆਨ ਪਏ ਕਰਨ।

although everyone has tried, over and over again, to describe Him.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those who merge in the Word of the Guru's Shabad, come to understand the Lord. ||3||

ਉਹ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਸੁਣਦਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਤੇ ਭੇਟਦਾ ਹੈ।

They listen to the Shabad continually; beholding Him, they merge into Him.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

They obtain glorious greatness by serving the Guru.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Name are absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||4||9||29||

ਗਊੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ, ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਤੀਜੀ।

ਅਧਰਮੀ ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।

The self-willed manmukhs are asleep, in love and attachment to Maya.

ਜਗਿਆਸੂ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਬੋਧ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

The Gurmukhs are awake, contemplating spiritual wisdom and the Glory of God.

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਖਬਰਦਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those humble beings who love the Naam, are awake and aware. ||1||

ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ, ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਵਲ ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੌਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

One who is awake to this intuitive wisdom does not fall asleep.

ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਣਾ ਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਅਕਾਲਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

How rare are those humble beings who understand this through the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||

ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਲਪਟੀ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

The unsaintly blockhead shall never understand.

ਉਹ (ਬੇਫਾਇਦਾ) ਗਲਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਘਿਉ-ਖਿਚੜੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

He babbles on and on, but he is infatuated with Maya.

ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਤੇ ਬੇਸਮਝ ਦਾ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

Blind and ignorant, he shall never be reformed. ||2||

ਇਸ ਯੁਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

In this age, salvation comes only from the Lord's Name.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

How rare are those who contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਵੰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

They save themselves, and save all their family and ancestors as well. ||3||
