Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਆਪਣੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਟ ਕੇ ਪਤਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,

Subduing their desires, they merge with the True One;

ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਮਨੂਏ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਵੇਖਦੀ ਹੈ।

they see in their minds that everyone comes and goes in reincarnation.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਥਿਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Serving the True Guru, they become stable forever, and they obtain their dwelling in the home of the self. ||3||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਜਰੀਏ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਤਸ਼ਕਰਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord is seen within one's own heart.

ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਮੈਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੀ ਹੈ।

Through the Shabad, I have burned my emotional attachment to Maya.

ਸੱਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਤੇ ਸਲਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I gaze upon the Truest of the True, and I praise Him. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I obtain the True One. ||4||

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਹਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।

Those who are attuned to Truth are blessed with the Love of the True One.

ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪਰਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।

Those who praise the Lord's Name are very fortunate.

ਸੱਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਉਨੱਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਸੱਚੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸਨਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Through the Word of His Shabad, the True One blends with Himself, those who join the True Congregation and sing the Glorious Praises of the True One. ||5||

ਆਪਾਂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਤਾਂ ਵਾਚੀਏ ਜੇਕਰ ਊਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਪੱਤੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ।

We could read the account of the Lord, if He were in any account.

ਉਹ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਤੇ ਸੋਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਉਚੇਰਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ ਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

He is Inaccessible and Incomprehensible; through the Shabad, understanding is obtained.

ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਪਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰ ਹੋਰਸ ਕੋਈ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਜਾਨਣ ਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

Night and day, praise the True Word of the Shabad. There is no other way to know His Worth. ||6||

ਪੜ੍ਹ ਤੇ ਵਾਚ ਕੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੰਭ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

People read and recite until they grow weary, but they do not find peace.

ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਗਿਆਤ ਨਹੀਂ।

Consumed by desire, they have no understanding at all.

ਜਹਿਰ ਉਹ ਖਰੀਦਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਜਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਖਾਤਰ ਊਹ ਤਿਹਾਏ ਹਨ। ਝੂਠ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਜਹਿਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

They purchase poison, and they are thirsty with their fascination for poison. Telling lies, they eat poison. ||7||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

By Guru's Grace, I know the One.

ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

Subduing my sense of duality, my mind is absorbed into the True One.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇਵਲ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਵਿਰਤ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, the One Name is pervading deep within my mind; by Guru's Grace, I receive it. ||8||17||18||

ਮਾਝ, ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਸਮੂਹ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਕਲਾਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਪਰਚੱਲਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ।

In all colors and forms, You are pervading.

ਬੰਦੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਗੇੜਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

People die over and over again; they are re-born, and make their rounds on the wheel of reincarnation.

ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਅਹਿੱਲ, ਅਗਾਧ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਤ ਹੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਦਰਸਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

You alone are Eternal and Unchanging, Inaccessible and Infinite. Through the Guru's Teachings, understanding is imparted. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਨੇ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਨੇ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Lord's Name in their minds.

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੁਹਾਂਦਰਾ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਊਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਜਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The Lord has no form, features or color. Through the Guru's Teachings, He inspires us to understand Him. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੈ, ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰੇ।

The One Light is all-pervading; only a few know this.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਤੇ ਜਾਹਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Serving the True Guru, this is revealed.

ਪੋਸ਼ੀਦਾ ਤੇ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮ ਨੂਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਨੂਰ ਓੜਕ ਨੂੰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

In the hidden and in the obvious, He is pervading all places. Our light merges into the Light. ||2||

ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਮਚ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,

The world is burning in the fire of desire,

ਅਤੇ ਤਮ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਘੁਮੰਡ ਦੇ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੈ।

in greed, arrogance and excessive ego.

ਉਹ ਬਾਰੰਬਾਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਜਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਗੁਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਉਹ ਬੇਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਵੰਞਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

People die over and over again; they are re-born, and lose their honor. They waste away their lives in vain. ||3||

ਕੋਈ ਟਾਵਾਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those who understand the Word of the Guru's Shabad are very rare.

ਜਦ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਸ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਜਹਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Those who subdue their egotism, come to know the three worlds.

ਤਦ ਉਹ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਜੀ ਮਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਸਗੋਂ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Then, they die, never to die again. They are intuitively absorbed in the True One. ||4||

ਉਹ ਤਦ, ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋੜਦਾ,

They do not focus their consciousness on Maya again.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

They remain absorbed forever in the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਉਹ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੋ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਦੀ ਪਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਸੱਚ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਭਾਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

They praise the True One, who is contained deep within all hearts. They are blessed and exalted by the Truest of the True. ||5||

ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਐਨ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੈ,

Praise the True One, who is Ever-present.

ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He is pervading everywhere.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਤਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਠੰਢ ਚੈਨ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, we come to behold the True One; from the True One, peace is obtained. ||6||

ਸੱਚਾ ਸਾਈਂ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਮਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The True One permeates and pervades the mind within.

ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਮੁਸਤਕਿਲ ਹੈ, ਊਹ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

The True One is Eternal and Unchanging; He does not come and go in reincarnation.

ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਾਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਊਹ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਅਪੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those who are attached to the True One are immaculate and pure. Through the Guru's Teachings, they merge in the True One. ||7||

ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

Praise the True One, and no other.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦਾਇਮੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Serving Him, eternal peace is obtained.
