Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਜਾਲ੍ਹੀ ਤੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ।

You Yourself created the counterfeit and the genuine.

ਤੂੰ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।

You Yourself appraise all people.

ਨਿਰਣੈ ਕਰਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।

You appraise the true, and place them in Your Treasury; You consign the false to wander in delusion. ||6||

ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਾਂ?

How can I behold You? How can I praise You?

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!

By Guru's Grace, I praise You through the Word of the Shabad.

ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

In Your Sweet Will, the Amrit is found; by Your Will, You inspire us to drink in this Amrit. ||7||

ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ।

The Shabad is Amrit; the Lord's Bani is Amrit.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Serving the True Guru, it permeates the heart.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਹੀ ਅਰਾਮ ਦੇਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ। ਨਾਮ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਛਕਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਖੁਦਿਆ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, the Ambrosial Naam is forever the Giver of peace; drinking in this Amrit, all hunger is satisfied. ||8||15||16||

ਮਾਝ, ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਵਰ੍ਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

The Ambrosial Nectar rains down, softly and gently.

ਕੋਈ ਟਾਂਵਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

How rare are those Gurmukhs who find it.

ਜੋ ਨਾਮ-ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਊਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤੇਹ ਲਾਹ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Those who drink it in are satisfied forever. Showering His Mercy upon them, the Lord quenches their thirst. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਜਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those Gurmukhs who drink in this Ambrosial Nectar.

ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਖ ਕੇ ਜਿਹਭਾ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੰਗੀਜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਤੇ ਸਿੱਧ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The tongue tastes the essence, and remains forever imbued with the Lord's Love, intuitively singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਗਿਆਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

By Guru's Grace, intuitive understanding is obtained;

ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

subduing the sense of duality, they are in love with the One.

ਜਦ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਵਾਦ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਸੱਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

When He bestows His Glance of Grace, then they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; by His Grace, they merge in Truth. ||2||

ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਹੈ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!

Above all is Your Glance of Grace, O God.

ਕਈਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਕਈਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਘੱਟ।

Upon some it is bestowed less, and upon others it is bestowed more.

ਤੇਰੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

Without You, nothing happens at all; the Gurmukhs understand this. ||3||

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਇਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ,

The Gurmukhs contemplate the essence of reality;

ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਸੁਧਾ-ਰਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਨ।

Your Treasures are overflowing with Ambrosial Nectar.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਤਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Without serving the True Guru, no one obtains it. It is obtained only by Guru's Grace. ||4||

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ।

Those who serve the True Guru are beautiful.

ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪੀ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ੍ਰੀਵ ਚਿੱਤ ਫਰੇਫਤਾ ਕਰ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ।

The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, entices their inner minds.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਸੁਤੇ-ਸਿੱਧ ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Their minds and bodies are attuned to the Ambrosial Bani of the Word; this Ambrosial Nectar is intuitively heard. ||5||

ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਅਧਰਮੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

The deluded, self-willed manmukhs are ruined through the love of duality.

ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਊਹ ਜਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਹਿਰ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

They do not chant the Naam, and they die, eating poison.

ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ। ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵੰਞਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Night and day, they continually sit in manure. Without selfless service, their lives are wasted away. ||6||

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਪਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਧਾ-ਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

They alone drink in this Amrit, whom the Lord Himself inspires to do so.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, they intuitively enshrine love for the Lord.

ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਮਾਲਕ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ ਉਹ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Perfect Lord is Himself perfectly pervading everywhere; through the Guru's Teachings, He is perceived. ||7||

ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਝ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

He Himself is the Immaculate Lord.

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਲਮ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੈ, ਊਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।

He who has created, shall Himself destroy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੂੰ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ। ਇੰਞ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ।

O Nanak, remember the Naam forever, and you shall merge into the True One with intuitive ease. ||8||16||17||

ਮਾਝ, ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who please You are linked to the Truth.

ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਘਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ।

They serve the True One forever, with intuitive ease.

ਸੱਚੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ।

Through the True Word of the Shabad, they praise the True One, and they merge in the merging of Truth. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਸਦਕੜੇ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who praise the True One.

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Those who meditate on the True One are attuned to Truth; they are absorbed into the Truest of the True. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

The True One is everywhere, wherever I look.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਦਕਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

By Guru's Grace, I enshrine Him in my mind.

ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ ਦੇਹਿ ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਗੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

True are the bodies of those whose tongues are attuned to Truth. They hear the Truth, and speak it with their mouths. ||2||
