ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

O Siblings of Destiny, I have no other place to go.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The Guru has given me the Treasure of the Wealth of the Naam; I am a sacrifice to Him. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਆਫਰੀਨ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ) ਨੂੰ, ਰੱਬ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋਵੇ।

The Guru's Teachings bring honor. Blessed is He-may I meet and be with Him!

ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮੈਂ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Without Him, I cannot live, even for a moment. Without His Name, I die.

ਮੈਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਂ ਭੁੱਲੇ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਲਾਹ ਤਾਬੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਪੁਜ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।

I am blind-may I never forget the Naam! Under His Protection, I shall reach my true home. ||2||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਾਰਮਕ ਆਗੂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁਰੀਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ।

Those chaylaas, those devotees, whose spiritual teacher is blind, shall not find their place of rest.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਹੈ?

Without the True Guru, the Name is not obtained. Without the Name, what is the use of it all?

ਉਜਾੜ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਫੇਰਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਉਤੇ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

People come and go, regretting and repenting, like crows in a deserted house. ||3||

ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਸ਼ੇਰੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਕੰਧ ਵਾਗੂ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Without the Name, the body suffers in pain; it crumbles like a wall of sand.

ਜਦ ਤਾਂਈ ਸੱਚ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਉਦੋਂ ਤਾਈਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

As long as Truth does not enter into the consciousness, the Mansion of the Lord's Presence is not found.

ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸਥਿਰ ਮੋਖਸ਼ ਦਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Attuned to the Shabad, we enter our home, and obtain the Eternal State of Nirvaanaa. ||4||

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੰਸੀ ਸੂਚਨਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਅਮਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I ask my Guru for His Advice, and I follow the Guru's Advice.

ਜੇਕਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

With the Shabads of Praise abiding in the mind, the pain of egotism is burnt away.

ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਗਿਆਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ।

We are intuitively united with Him, and we meet the Truest of the True. ||5||

ਜੋ ਰਬੀ ਕਲਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਗੁਸੇ ਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who are attuned to the Shabad are spotless and pure; they renounce sexual desire, anger, selfishness and conceit.

ਸਦੀਵ ਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ।

They sing the Praises of the Naam, forever and ever; they keep the Lord enshrined within their hearts.

ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਭੁਲਾਈਏ ਜੋ ਸਮੂਹ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ?

How could we ever forget Him from our minds? He is the Support of all beings. ||6||

ਜੋ ਰੱਬੀ ਕਾਲਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਰਿਹਾਈ ਪਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਦੂਸਰੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰਦਾ।

One who dies in the Shabad is beyond death, and shall never die again.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Shabad, we find Him, and embrace love for the Name of the Lord.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਘੁਸਿਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਵਾਗੌਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Without the Shabad, the world is deceived; it dies and is reborn, over and over again. ||7||

ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਪਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮਹਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਮ ਮਹਾਨ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

All praise themselves, and call themselves the greatest of the great.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਕੇਵਲ ਆਖਣ ਤੇ ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

Without the Guru, one's self cannot be known. By merely speaking and listening, what is accomplished?

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੇਕਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਞਾਣ ਲਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

O Nanak, one who realizes the Shabad does not act in egotism. ||8||8||

ਸਿਰੀ ਰਾਗ, ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Siree Raag, First Mehl:

ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਪਤਨੀ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ-ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਫ਼ਜ਼ੂਲ ਤੇ ਤਬਾਹ-ਕੁਨ ਹਨ।

Without her Husband, the soul-bride's youth and ornaments are useless and wretched.

ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਦੀ ਸੇਜ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੋਗਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਬੇਹੂਦਾ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਜਾਵਟਾਂ।

She does not enjoy the pleasure of His Bed; without her Husband, her ornaments are absurd.

ਅਭਾਗੀ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੰਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੇ ਪਲੰਘ ਤੇ ਬਿਸਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

The discarded bride suffers terrible pain; her Husband does not come to the bed of her home. ||1||

ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ, ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ।

O mind, meditate on the Lord, and find peace.

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ। ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Without the Guru, love is not found. United with the Shabad, happiness is found. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਰਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ-ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਤਨੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Serving the Guru, she finds peace, and her Husband Lord adorns her with intuitive wisdom.

ਡੂੰਘੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਤੇ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਪਲੰਗ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਂਵਦੀ ਹੈ।

Truly, she enjoys the Bed of her Husband, through her deep love and affection.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ ਪਛਾਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇਕ ਚਾਲਚਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

As Gurmukh, she comes to know Him. Meeting with the Guru, she maintains a virtuous lifestyle. ||2||

ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਹੇ ਪਤਨੀਏ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ। ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੇਮ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤੇ ਮੋਹਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

Through Truth, meet your Husband Lord, O soul-bride. Enchanted by your Husband, enshrine love for Him.

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਦਸਿਆ (ਪਾਇਆ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

Your mind and body shall blossom forth in Truth. The value of this cannot be described.

ਪਤੀ-ਪਿਆਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

The soul-bride finds her Husband Lord in the home of her own being; she is purified by the True Name. ||3||

ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਕੁਚਲ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਦ ਕੰਤ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

If the mind within the mind dies, then the Husband ravishes and enjoys His bride.

ਧਾਗੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਲਾ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਬਨਾਵਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

They are woven into one texture, like pearls on a necklace around the neck.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਸੰਭਾਲਨ ਨਾਲ ਆਰਾਮ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

In the Society of the Saints, peace wells up; the Gurmukhs take the Support of the Naam. ||4||

ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾਹੈ, ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

In an instant, one is born, and in an instant, one dies. In an instant one comes, and in an instant one goes.

ਮੌਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖਾਂਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਞਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who recognizes the Shabad merges into it, and is not afflicted by death.
