Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਥੇ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਕਥਾ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ,

In the Society of the Saints, spiritual conversations take place.

ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

The sinful mistakes of millions of incarnations are erased. ||2||

ਸੰਤ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।

The Holy Saints meditate in remembrance, in ecstasy.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਮਹਾਨ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Their minds and bodies are immersed in supreme ecstasy. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,

Slave Nanak is a sacrifice to those

ਨੌਕਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਉਤੋਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Who have obtained the treasure of the Lord's Feet. ||4||95||164||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਤੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਨਾਂ ਚਿਮੜੇ,

Do only that, by which no filth or pollution shall stick to you.

ਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਗਦੀ ਰਹੇ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Let your mind remain awake and aware, singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||Pause||

ਇਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਨਾਂ ਕਰ।

Meditate in remembrance on the One Lord; do not be in love with duality.

ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਰਫ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ।

In the Society of the Saints, chant only the Name. ||1||

ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ, ਫਰਜ, ਮਜ਼ਹਬੀ-ਸੰਸਕਾਰ, ਉਪਹਾਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ,

The karma of good actions, the Dharma of righteous living, religious rituals, fasts and worship

ਇਹ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਸਿੰਞਾਣ ਨਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

- practice these, but do not know any other than the Supreme Lord God. ||2||

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕੱਤ ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,

Their works are brought to fruition,

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਆਪਦੇ ਨਿਜ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ।

if they place their love in God. ||3||

ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਣਮੁੱਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਾਸ-ਤਿਆਗੀ,

Infinitely invaluable is that Vaishnaav, that worshipper of Vishnu,

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਾਪ ਛੱਡ ਦਿਤੇ ਹਨ।

says Nanak, who has renounced corruption. ||4||96||165||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੈ ਝੱਲੇ।

They desert you even when you are alive, O madman;

ਮਰਨ ਮਗਰੋ ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

what good can they do when someone is dead? ||1||

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਐਸਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਨਲਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Meditate in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe in your mind and body - this is your pre-ordained destiny.

ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਨਾਸਕ ਪਾਪ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The poison of Maya is of no use at all. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਠੱਗੀ ਫਰੇਬ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਖਾਧੀ ਹੈ,

Those who have eaten this poison of deception

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ।

- their thirst shall never depart. ||2||

ਕਠਨ ਜਗਤ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਦੁਖੜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

The treacherous world-ocean is filled with terrible pain.

ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ?

Without the Lord's Name, how can anyone cross over? ||3||

ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਦੀਆਂ ਦੋਨੋ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਲੈ,

Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall be saved here and hereafter.

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ।

O Nanak, worship and adore the Name of the Lord. ||4||97||166||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਗਰੀਬੜਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਤੇ ਹੈਕੜ ਨਾਲ ਹੱਥ ਫੇਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

The bearded emperor who struck down the poor,

ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੱਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾੜ ਸੁੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।

has been burnt in the fire by the Supreme Lord God. ||1||

ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਇਨਸਾਫ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Creator administers true justice.

ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਦੀ ਰਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

He is the Saving Grace of His slaves. ||1||Pause||

ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਰੰਭ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਪ ਤੇਜ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਹੈ।

In the beginning, and throughout the ages, His glory is manifest.

ਕਲੰਕ ਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭਾਰੀ ਬੁਖਾਰ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The slanderer died after contracting the deadly fever. ||2||

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਬਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।

He is killed, and no one can save him.

ਏਥੇ ਤੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਭੈੜੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੂਹਰਤ।

Here and hereafter, his reputation is evil. ||3||

ਆਪਣੇ ਨਫਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਈ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord hugs His slaves close in His Embrace.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Nanak seeks the Lord's Sanctuary, and meditates on the Naam. ||4||98||167||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਮੇਜਰਨਾਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੂੜਾ ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ।

The memorandum was proven to be false by the Lord Himself.

ਗੁਨਹਾਗਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਦਾ ਚਿਮੜ ਗਈ।

The sinner is now suffering in despair. ||1||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ,

Those who have my Lord of the Universe as their support

ਮੌਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦੀ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

- death does not even approach them. ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਝੂਠ ਬਕਦਾ ਹੈ,

In the True Court, they lie;

ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਟਦਾ ਹੈ।

the blind fools strike their own heads with their own hands. ||2||

ਬੀਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਗਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਗੁਨਾਹ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Sickness afflicts those who commit sins;

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਮੁਨਿਸਫ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ।

God Himself sits as the Judge. ||3||

ਆਪਣੇ ਅਮਲਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਝ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

By their own actions, they are bound and gagged.

ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਚਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

All their wealth is gone, along with their lives. ||4||

ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ।

Nanak has taken to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Court;

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰਖ ਲਈ ਹੈ।

my Creator has preserved my honor. ||5||99||168||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਾਧੂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ।

The dust of the feet of the humble beings is so sweet to my mind.

ਜੀਵ ਦੀ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਕਿਸਮਤ ਵਿੱਚ, ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਮੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਐਸਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Perfect karma is the mortal's pre-ordained destiny. ||1||Pause||
