Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਪੈਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਟੁਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

With my feet, I walk on the Path of my Lord and Master. ||1||

ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਵਕਤ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

It is a good time, when I remember Him in meditation.

ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤਰ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||1||Pause||

ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਵੇਖ।

With your eyes, behold the Blessed Vision of the Saints.

ਅਮਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਕਾਰ ਲੈ।

Record the Immortal Lord God within your mind. ||2||

ਸੰਤਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰ।

Listen to the Kirtan of His Praises, at the Feet of the Holy.

ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੇ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ।

Your fears of birth and death shall depart. ||3||

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਚਰਨ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾ।

Enshrine the Lotus Feet of your Lord and Master within your heart.

ਐਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਮੌਲਕ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਸਰੀਰ (ਜੀਵਨ) ਦਾ ਪਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਲੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ!

Thus this human life, so difficult to obtain, shall be redeemed. ||4||51||120||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਉਹ ਇਨਸਾਨ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,

Those, upon whom the Lord Himself showers His Mercy,

ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭਾ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, with their tongues. ||1||

ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਉਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਸ਼ੱਕ-ਸੰਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਗ਼ਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਪਕੜਦੇ ਹਨ।

Forgetting the Lord, superstition and sorrow shall overtake you.

ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਵਹਿਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੌੜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Meditating on the Naam, doubt and fear shall depart. ||1||Pause||

ਜੋ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, and singing the Lord's Kirtan,

ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦੀ।

misfortune shall not even come near you. ||2||

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੁਹਣਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

Working for the Lord, His humble servants look beautiful.

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੂੰਹਦੀ।

The fire of Maya does not touch them. ||3||

ਦੇਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ,

Within their minds, bodies and mouths, is the Name of the Merciful Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੁਆੜੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿਤੇ ਹਨ।

Nanak has renounced other entanglements. ||4||52||121||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਆਪਣੀ ਅਕਲਮੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਘਣੀ ਚਾਲਾਕੀ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇ।

Renounce your cleverness, and your cunning tricks.

ਤੂੰ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ।

Seek the Support of the Perfect Guru. ||1||

ਤੇਰੇ ਗ਼ਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰੇਗਾ।

Your pain shall depart, and in peace, you shall sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Meeting the Perfect Guru, let yourself be absorbed in the Lord's Love. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

The Guru has given me the Mantra of the Name of the Lord.

ਮੇਰੇ ਫਿਕਰ ਮਿਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹੈ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ।

My worries are forgotten, and my anxiety is gone. ||2||

ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

Meeting with the Merciful Guru, I am in ecstasy.

ਆਪਣੀ ਮਇਆ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਕਟ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।

Showering His Mercy, He has cut away the noose of the Messenger of Death. ||3||

ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,

Says Nanak, I have found the Perfect Guru;

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੌਹਨੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਦੂਖਾਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗੀ।

Maya shall no longer harass me. ||4||53||122||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

The Perfect Guru Himself has saved me.

ਅਧਰਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਖੜੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

The self-willed manmukhs are afflicted with misfortune. ||1||

ਵੱਡੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ।

Chant and meditate on the Guru, the Guru, O my friend.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Your face shall be radiant in the Court of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾ,

Enshrine the Feet of the Guru within your heart;

ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਗ਼ਮ, ਵੈਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਮਲੀਆਮੇਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

your pains, enemies and bad luck shall be destroyed. ||2||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ।

The Word of the Guru's Shabad is your Companion and Helper.

ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਧਾਰੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਹੇ ਵੀਰ!

O Siblings of Destiny, all beings shall be kind to you. ||3||

ਜਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰੀ,

When the Perfect Guru granted His Grace,

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਪਰੀਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।

says Nanak, I was totally, completely fulfilled. ||4||54||123||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਘਣੀਆ ਨਿਆਮਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਡੰਗਰ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Like beasts, they consume all sorts of tasty treats.

ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੇ ਰਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਚੌਰ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾ ਨਰੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

With the rope of emotional attachment, they are bound and gagged like thieves. ||1||

ਸਤ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ, ਸ੍ਰੀਰ ਇਕ ਲੌਥ ਹੈ।

Their bodies are corpses, without the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਬੰਦਾ ਜੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਦ ਨਾਲ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

They come and go in reincarnation, and are destroyed by pain. ||1||Pause||

ਆਦਮੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕੇ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

They wear all sorts of beautiful robes,

ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਇਹ ਪੈਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ-ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੂਰੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ।

but they are still just scarecrows in the field, frightening away the birds. ||2||

ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਿਸਮ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਕੰਮੀ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

All bodies are of some use,

ਬੇਫ਼ਾਇਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਦਮੀ ਦਾ, ਜੋ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

but those who do not meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, are totally useless. ||3||

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫ਼ੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

Says Nanak, those unto whom the Lord becomes Merciful,

ਉਹ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਸ਼੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

join the Saadh Sangat, and meditate on the Lord of the Universe. ||4||55||124||
