ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ; ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਛੋਟ ॥੧॥
sant prasaad; janam maran te chhott |1|
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਣ ਤੋਂ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
By the Grace of the Saints, one is released from birth and death. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ; ਪੂਰਨ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
sant kaa daras; pooran isanaan |
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਪੂਰਾ ਮੱਜਨ ਹੈ।
The Blessed Vision of the Saints is the perfect cleansing bath.
ਸੰਤ ਕਿ੍ਰਪਾ ਤੇ; ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਦਕਾ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਓ।
By the Grace of the Saints, one comes to chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ; ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
sant kai sang; mittiaa ahankaar |
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨਵਿਰਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
In the Society of the Saints, egotism is shed,
ਦਿ੍ਰਸਟਿ ਆਵੈ; ਸਭੁ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
drisatt aavai; sabh ekankaar |2|
ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
and the One Lord is seen everywhere. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ; ਆਏ ਵਸਿ ਪੰਚਾ ॥
sant suprasan; aae vas panchaa |
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਰਮ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਪੰਜ ਮੰਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਵੇਗੁ ਕਾਬੂ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
By the pleasure of the Saints, the five passions are overpowered,
ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ; ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਸੰਚਾ ॥੩॥
amrit naam; ridai lai sanchaa |3|
ਅਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਿੰਚ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
and the heart is irrigated with the Ambrosial Naam. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਜਾ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਮ ॥
kahu naanak; jaa kaa pooraa karam |
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ,
Says Nanak, one whose karma is perfect,
ਤਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ; ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥੪॥੪੬॥੧੧੫॥

ਉਹੀ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੂੰਹਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਪਤ; ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸੈ ॥
har gun japat; kamal paragaasai |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ੂਬੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਾਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਦਿਲ-ਕੰਵਲ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Meditating on the Glories of the Lord, the heart-lotus blossoms radiantly.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ; ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੈ ॥੧॥
har simarat; traas sabh naasai |1|
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Remembering the Lord in meditation, all fears are dispelled. ||1||
ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ; ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
saa mat pooree; jit har gun gaavai |
ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਅਕਲ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Perfect is that intellect, by which the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung.
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ; ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vaddai bhaag; saadhoo sang paavai |1| rahaau |
ਪਰਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
By great good fortune, one finds the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ; ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
saadhasang; paaeeai nidh naamaa |
ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
In the Saadh Sangat, the treasure of the Name is obtained.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ; ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥
saadhasang; pooran sabh kaamaa |2|
ਜਗਿਆਸੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਮੇਲਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
In the Saadh Sangat, all one's works are brought to fruition. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ; ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
har kee bhagat; janam paravaan |
ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Through devotion to the Lord, one's life is approved.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ; ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
gur kirapaa te; naam vakhaan |3|
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By Guru's Grace, one chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
kahu naanak; so jan paravaan |
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Says Nanak, that humble being is accepted,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ; ਵਸੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੪੭॥੧੧੬॥
jaa kai ridai; vasai bhagavaan |4|47|116|
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
within whose heart the Lord God abides. ||4||47||116||
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ; ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
ekas siau; jaa kaa man raataa |
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਇਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੀ ਹੈ,
Those whose minds are imbued with the One Lord,
ਵਿਸਰੀ ਤਿਸੈ; ਪਰਾਈ ਤਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
visaree tisai; paraaee taataa |1|
ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਈਰਖਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਭੁਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
forget to feel jealous of others. ||1||
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ; ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
bin gobind; na deesai koee |
ਸ਼੍ਰਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਦਾ।
They see none other than the Lord of the Universe.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ; ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan karaavan; karataa soee |1| rahaau |
(ਉਸ ਲਈ) ਉਹ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The Creator is the Doer, the Cause of causes. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨਹਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ; ਮੁਖਿ. ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੈ ॥
maneh kamaavai; mukh. har har bolai |
ਜੋ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those who work willingly, and chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ; ਇਤ ਉਤ. ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੈ ॥੨॥
so jan; it ut. kateh na ddolai |2|
ਉਹ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਏਥੇ ਅਤੇ ੳਥੇ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਭੀ ਡਿੱਕੇ ਡੋਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਖਾਂਦਾ।
- they do not waver, here or hereafter. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ; ਸੋ ਸਚ ਸਾਹੁ ॥
jaa kai har dhan; so sach saahu |
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਹੈ।
Those who possess the wealth of the Lord are the true bankers.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ; ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਵਿਸਾਹੁ ॥੩॥
gur poorai; kar deeno visaahu |3|
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਖ਼ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।
The Perfect Guru has established their line of credit. ||3||
ਜੀਵਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ; ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
jeevan purakh; miliaa har raaeaa |
ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Giver of life, the Sovereign Lord King meets them.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੪੮॥੧੧੭॥
kahu naanak; param pad paaeaa |4|48|117|
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਫ਼ੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਮਰਤਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Says Nanak, they attain the supreme status. ||4||48||117||

ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ; ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
naam bhagat kai; praan adhaar |
ਨਾਮ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Support of the breath of life of His devotees.
ਨਾਮੋ ਧਨੁ; ਨਾਮੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
naamo dhan; naamo biauhaar |1|
ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸਦਾ ਕਾਰ ਵਿਹਾਰ!
The Naam is their wealth, the Naam is their occupation. ||1||
ਨਾਮ ਵਡਾਈ; ਜਨੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
naam vaddaaee; jan sobhaa paae |
ਨਾਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਬਜੁਰਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
By the greatness of the Naam, His humble servants are blessed with glory.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ; ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa; jis aap divaae |1| rahaau |
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The Lord Himself bestows it, in His Mercy. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ; ਸੁਖ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ॥
naam bhagat kai; sukh asathaan |
ਨਾਮ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ਦੇ ਅਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੈ।
The Naam is the home of peace of His devotees.
ਨਾਮ ਰਤੁ; ਸੋ ਭਗਤੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
naam rat; so bhagat paravaan |2|
ਜੋ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Attuned to the Naam, His devotees are approved. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ; ਜਨ ਕਉ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
har kaa naam; jan kau dhaarai |
ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਫ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Name of the Lord is the support of His humble servants.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ; ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
saas saas; jan naam samaarai |3|
ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
With each and every breath, they remember the Naam. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ; ਜਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
kahu naanak; jis pooraa bhaag |
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਲਬੰਧ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ,
Says Nanak, those who have perfect destiny
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ; ਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੪੯॥੧੧੮॥
naam sang; taa kaa man laag |4|49|118|
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

By the Grace of the Saints, I meditated on the Name of the Lord.
ਤਬ ਤੇ; ਧਾਵਤੁ ਮਨੁ ਤਿ੍ਰਪਤਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
tab te; dhaavat man tripataaeaa |1|
ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੂਆਂ ਰੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Since then, my restless mind has been satisfied. ||1||
ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ; ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
sukh bisraam paaeaa; gun gaae |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
I have obtained the home of peace, singing His Glorious Praises.
ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ; ਮੇਰੀ ਹਤੀ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sram mittiaa; meree hatee balaae |1| rahaau |
ਮੇਰੀ ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਕੁਕਰਮਾ ਦਾ) ਦੈਂਤ ਬਿਨਸ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
My troubles have ended, and the demon has been destroyed. ||1||Pause||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ; ਅਰਾਧਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
charan kamal; araadh bhagavantaa |
ਭਾਗਵਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਕੰਵਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰ।
Worship and adore the Lotus Feet of the Lord God.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੇ; ਮਿਟੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ॥੨॥
har simaran te; mittee meree chintaa |2|
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੇਰਾ iਫ਼ਕਰ-ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਮੁਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, my anxiety has come to an end. ||2||
ਸਭ ਤਜਿ ਅਨਾਥੁ; ਏਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
sabh taj anaath; ek saran aaeo |
ਮੈਂ ਯਤੀਮ, ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
I have renounced all - I am an orphan. I have come to the Sanctuary of the One Lord.
ਊਚ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ; ਤਬ ਸਹਜੇ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
aooch asathaan; tab sahaje paaeo |3|
ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮ-ਬੁਲੰਦ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ਼ੈਨ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
Since then, I have found the highest celestial home. ||3||
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ; ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਨਸਿਆ ॥
dookh darad; bharam bhau nasiaa |
ਮੇਰੀ ਤਕਲਫ਼ਿ, ਪੀੜ, ਵਹਿਮ ਅਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੌੜ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
My pains, troubles, doubts and fears are gone.
ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ; ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਬਸਿਆ ॥੪॥੫੦॥੧੧੯॥

ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਕਰ ਕਰਿ ਟਹਲ; ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਉ ॥

ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਬਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਆਲਾਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
With my hands I do His work; with my tongue I sing His Glorious Praises.
