Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲਾਸਾਨੀ ਵੱਖਰ ਹੈ।

The infinite substance is within it.

ਇਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ, ਸੁਣੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵਡਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

Within it, the great merchant is said to dwell.

ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦੀ ਓਥੇ ਸਾਖ ਹੈ?

Who is the trader who deals there? ||1||

ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਹੀਰੇ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

How rare is that trader who deals in the jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਉਹ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਛਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

He takes the Ambrosial Nectar as his food. ||1||Pause||

ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

He dedicates his mind and body to serving the Lord.

ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਢੰਗ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

How can we please the Lord?

ਆਪਣਾ ਮੇਰ ਤੇਰ ਗੁਆ, ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I fall at His Feet, and I renounce all sense of 'mine and yours'.

ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੌਦਾ ਕਰਾ ਦੇਵੇ।

Who can settle this bargain? ||2||

ਕਿਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਪੁਜ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ?

How can I attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence?

ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੱਦ ਲਵੇ?

How can I get Him to call me inside?

ਤੂੰ ਵਡਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਹਟਵਾਣੀਏ ਹਨ।

You are the Great Merchant; You have millions of traders.

ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਪੁਚਾ ਦੇਵੇ?

Who is the benefactor? Who can take me to Him? ||3||

ਲਭਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿੱਜ ਦਾ ਧਾਮ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

Seeking and searching, I have found my own home, deep within my own being.

ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।

The True Lord has shown me the priceless jewel.

ਜਦ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

When the Great Merchant shows His Mercy, He blends us into Himself.

ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਇਹ ਹੋ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਧਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Says Nanak, place your faith in the Guru. ||4||16||85||

ਗਊੜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ।

Gauree, Fifth Mehl, Gwaarayree:

ਰਾਤ੍ਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਸੰਤ ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ।

Night and day, they remain in the Love of the One.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ, ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ ਸੰਗ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ।

They know that God is always with them.

ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਰਹੁ-ਰੀਤੀ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

They make the Name of their Lord and Master their way of life;

ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਰੱਜ ਅਤੇ ਧ੍ਰਾਪ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

they are satisfied and fulfilled with the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||1||

ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਰਸਬਜ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Imbued with the Love of the Lord, their minds and bodies are rejuvenated,

ਉਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

entering the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਵਲ ਰੂਪ ਪੈਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹਨ।

The Lord's Lotus Feet are the Support of the soul.

ਉਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

They see only the One, and obey His Order.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਵਪਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਕਾਰ ਵਿਹਾਰ।

There is only one trade, and one occupation.

ਰੂਪ-ਰੰਗ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।

They know no other than the Formless Lord. ||2||

ਉਹ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਦੋਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਹਨ।

They are free of both pleasure and pain.

ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਅਟੰਕ ਅਤੇ ਰਬ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਬਿਧੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

They remain unattached, joined to the Lord's Way.

ਉਹ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਵੇਕਲੇ ਹਨ।

They are seen among all, and yet they are distinct from all.

ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜੀ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ।

They focus their meditation on the Supreme Lord God. ||3||

ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਜੂਰਗੀਆਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਕਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ?

How can I describe the Glories of the Saints?

ਅਥਾਹ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ।

Their knowledge is unfathomable; their limits cannot be known.

ਹੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ।

O Supreme Lord God, please shower Your Mercy upon me.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ।

Bless Nanak with the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||17||86||

ਗਊੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ।

You are my Companion; You are my Best Friend.

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ।

You are my Beloved; I am in love with You.

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ-ਆਬਰੂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਭੂਸ਼ਨ ਹੈ।

You are my honor; You are my decoration.

ਤੇਰੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ-ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ।

Without You, I cannot survive, even for an instant. ||1||

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲਬਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦਜਾਨ।

You are my Intimate Beloved, You are my breath of life.

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਰਦਾਰ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

You are my Lord and Master; You are my Leader. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਨੂੰ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

As You keep me, so do I survive.

ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Whatever You say, that is what I do.

ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਉਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵਸਦਾ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Wherever I look, there I see You dwelling.

ਮੇਰੇ ਨਿਡਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

O my Fearless Lord, with my tongue, I chant Your Name. ||2||

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨੌ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਤੋਸ਼ਾਖਾਨਾ।

You are my nine treasures, You are my storehouse.

ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸਿੰਚਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।

I am imbued with Your Love; You are the Support of my mind.

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਾਨ-ਸ਼ੋਕਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ।

You are my Glory; I am blended with You.

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।

You are my Shelter; You are my Anchoring Support. ||3||

ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Deep within my mind and body, I meditate on You.

ਤੇਰਾ ਭੇਤ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

I have obtained Your secret from the Guru.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਘੁਟ ਕੇ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੈ।

Through the True Guru, the One and only Lord was implanted within me;

ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।

servant Nanak has taken to the Support of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||4||18||87||
