ਕਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਕੁ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅਪਾਰ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿੱਡੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਾਂ, (ਹੇ ਸਾਂਈਂ?)।
You have so many Creative Powers, Lord; Your Bountiful Blessings are so Great.
ਕੇਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ; ਸਿਫਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
kete tere jeea jant; sifat kareh din raat |
ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੀਵ-ਜੰਤੂ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਣ (ਤੇਰਾ) ਜੱਸ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
So many of Your beings and creatures praise You day and night.
ਕੇਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ; ਕੇਤੇ ਜਾਤਿ ਅਜਾਤਿ ॥੩॥
kete tere roop rang; kete jaat ajaat |3|
ਅਨੰਤ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਕਲਾ ਤੇ ਰੰਗਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੰਤ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਉਚੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਨੀਵੀਆਂ ਜਾਤੀਆਂ।
You have so many forms and colors, so many classes, high and low. ||3||
ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਊਪਜੈ; ਸਚ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਵਾਦੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Meeting the True One, Truth wells up. The truthful are absorbed into the True Lord.
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਪਤਿ ਊਗਵੈ; ਗੁਰਬਚਨੀ ਭਉ ਖਾਇ ॥

ਜਦ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ-ਡਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੀ-ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਆਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਨ-ਪ੍ਰਤਿਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Intuitive understanding is obtained and one is welcomed with honor, through the Guru's Word, filled with the Fear of God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ; ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥

ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਤਦੋਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਭਲੀ ਸਰੀ. ਜਿ ਉਬਰੀ; ਹਉਮੈ ਮੁਈ ਘਰਾਹੁ ॥

ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਖਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
It all worked out-I was saved, and the egotism within my heart was subdued.
ਦੂਤ ਲਗੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਚਾਕਰੀ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥

ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਧਾਰ ਲਿਆ, ਤਦ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਵੈਰੀ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ।
The evil energies have been made to serve me, since I placed my faith in the True Guru.
ਕਲਪ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਬਾਦਿ ਹੈ; ਸਚਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥੧॥
kalap tiaagee baad hai; sachaa veparavaahu |1|
ਬੇ-ਮੁਥਾਜ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ (ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ) ਮੈਂ ਵਿਹਲੀ ਸਿਰੀ-ਦਰਦੀ ਛੱਡ ਛੱਡੀ ਹੈ।
I have renounced my useless schemes, by the Grace of the True, Carefree Lord. ||1||
ਮਨ ਰੇ; ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ. ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
man re; sach milai. bhau jaae |
ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੈ ਇਨਸਾਨ!
O mind, meeting with the True One, fear departs.
ਭੈ ਬਿਨੁ. ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਿਉ ਥੀਐ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਏ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ, ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨਿਡਰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
Without the Fear of God, how can anyone become fearless? Become Gurmukh, and immerse yourself in the Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਕੇਤਾ ਆਖਣੁ ਆਖੀਐ; ਆਖਣਿ. ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
ketaa aakhan aakheeai; aakhan. tott na hoe |
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਕਿਥੋ ਤਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ? ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਵਰਨਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੱਦ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
How can we describe Him with words? There is no end to the descriptions of Him.
ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੇਤੜੇ; ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥

ਬਹੁਤ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਹਨ ਮੰਗਤੇ, ਉਹ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਹੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
There are so many beggars, but He is the only Giver.
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਜੀਅ ਪਰਾਣ ਹੈ; ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
jis ke jeea paraan hai; man vasiai sukh hoe |2|
ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਉਦੋਂ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, (ਬੰਦੇ ਦੇ) ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਆ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
He is the Giver of the soul, and the praanaa, the breath of life; when He dwells within the mind, there is peace. ||2||
ਜਗੁ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਬਾਜੀ ਬਨੀ; ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲੁ ਖੇਲਾਇ ॥
jag supanaa baajee banee; khin meh khel khelaae |
ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸੁਫ਼ਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਇਕ ਨਾਟਕ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦ ਹੈ, ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਖੇਡ ਖਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
The world is a drama, staged in a dream. In a moment, the play is played out.
ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕਸੇ; ਵਿਜੋਗੀ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

ਕਈ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਛੋਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਟੁਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Some attain union with the Lord, while others depart in separation.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ. ਸੋ ਥੀਐ; ਅਵਰੁ. ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
jo tis bhaanaa. so theeai; avar. na karanaa jaae |3|
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
Whatever pleases Him comes to pass; nothing else can be done. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਵੇਸਾਹੀਐ; ਸਚੁ ਵਖਰੁ. ਸਚੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
guramukh vasat vesaaheeai; sach vakhar. sach raas |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਮਾਲ ਮੁੱਲ ਲੈ। ਸੱਚੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੌਦਾ-ਸੂਤ ਖਰੀਦਿਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukhs purchase the Genuine Article. The True Merchandise is purchased with the True Capital.
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਿਆ; ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
jinee sach vananjiaa; gur poore saabaas |
ਆਫ਼ਰੀਨ ਹੈ! ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ, ਨੇ ਪੂਰਨ-ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਹਾਝਿਆ ਹੈ।
Those who purchase this True Merchandise through the Perfect Guru are blessed.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਵਸਤੁ ਪਛਾਣਸੀ; ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧੧॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਸੁਆਮੀ), ਜਿਸ ਕੋਲਿ ਅਸਲੀ ਵਿਉਪਾਰਕ ਮਾਲ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਖਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਞਾਣ ਲਵੇਗਾ।
O Nanak, one who stocks this True Merchandise shall recognize and realize the Genuine Article. ||4||11||

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧਾਤੂ ਆਖੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਤੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਜੱਸ-ਗਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੱਸ-ਯੋਗ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
As metal merges with metal, those who chant the Praises of the Lord are absorbed into the Praiseworthy Lord.
ਲਾਲੁ ਗੁਲਾਲੁ ਗਹਬਰਾ; ਸਚਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਚੜਾਉ ॥
laal gulaal gahabaraa; sachaa rang charraau |
ਪੋਸਤ ਦੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਦੀ ਰੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਸੂਹਾ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Like the poppies, they are dyed in the deep crimson color of Truthfulness.
ਸਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ; ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥
sach milai santokheea; har jap ekai bhaae |1|
ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ, ਜੋ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਤਿਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those contented souls who meditate on the Lord with single-minded love, meet the True Lord. ||1||
ਭਾਈ ਰੇ; ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ॥
bhaaee re; sant janaa kee ren |
ਹੇ ਭਰਾ! ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹੋ ਜਾ।
O Siblings of Destiny, become the dust of the feet of the humble Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ; ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਧੇਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sant sabhaa gur paaeeai; mukat padaarath dhen |1| rahaau |
ਗੁਰੂ, ਮੋਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦੀ ਦੋਲਤ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਵਰਗੀ ਗਊ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
In the Society of the Saints, the Guru is found. He is the Treasure of Liberation, the Source of all good fortune. ||1||Pause||
ਊਚਉ ਥਾਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ; ਊਪਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥
aoochau thaan suhaavanaa; aoopar mehal muraar |
ਅਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਨਾਸਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਉਚੇ ਥੜ੍ਹੇ ਤੇ ਹੈ।
Upon that Highest Plane of Sublime Beauty, stands the Mansion of the Lord.
ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਈਐ; ਦਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
sach karanee de paaeeai; dar ghar mehal piaar |
ਚੰਗੇ ਅਮਲਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਦੇਹ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਬੀ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਬੂਹਾ।
By true actions, this human body is obtained, and the door within ourselves which leads to the Mansion of the Beloved, is found.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਈਐ; ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
guramukh man samajhaaeeai; aatam raam beechaar |2|
ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਰੂਹ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਜਗਿਆਸੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖ ਮੱਤ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The Gurmukhs train their minds to contemplate the Lord, the Supreme Soul. ||2||
ਤਿ੍ਰਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਈਅਹਿ; ਆਸ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
tribidh karam kamaaeeeh; aas andesaa hoe |
ਤਿੰਨ-ਰਾਹੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਸ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
By actions committed under the influence of the three qualities, hope and anxiety are produced.
ਕਿਉ. ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ, ਤਿ੍ਰਕੁਟੀ ਛੁਟਸੀ; ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ. ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਗ਼ੈਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਤਿੰਨਾ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੈਦ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਪਰਾਪਤੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਰਾਮ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Without the Guru, how can anyone be released from these three qualities? Through intuitive wisdom, we meet with Him and find peace.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ; ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥੩॥
nij ghar mehal pachhaaneeai; nadar kare mal dhoe |3|
ਆਪਣੀ ਦਇਆ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ (ਸਰੀਰ) ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Within the home of the self, the Mansion of His Presence is realized when He bestows His Glance of Grace and washes away our pollution. ||3||
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ. ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ; ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ. ਕਿਉ ਘਰ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
bin gur. mail na utarai; bin har. kiau ghar vaas |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਪਲੀਤੀ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ-ਆਉਣਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
Without the Guru, this pollution is not removed. Without the Lord, how can there be any homecoming?
ਏਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੀਐ; ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗੈ ਆਸ ॥
eko sabad veechaareeai; avar tiaagai aas |
ਹੋਰ ਆਸਾ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਉਚਿਤ ਹੈ।
Contemplate the One Word of the Shabad, and abandon other hopes.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਦੇਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਈਐ; ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਸੁ ॥੪॥੧੨॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ) ਆਪ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
O Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice to the one who beholds, and inspires others to behold Him. ||4||12||

ਧਿ੍ਰਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ; ਮੁਠੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥
dhrig jeevan dohaaganee; mutthee doojai bhaae |
ਲਾਨ੍ਹਤ-ਮਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਛੁਟੜ ਵਹੁਟੀ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ। ਉਹ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਨੇ ਠੱਗ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
The life of the discarded bride is cursed. She is deceived by the love of duality.
ਕਲਰ ਕੇਰੀ ਕੰਧ ਜਿਉ; ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਕਿਰਿ. ਢਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥

ਰੈਹੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਧ ਦੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਭੁਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Like a wall of sand, day and night, she crumbles, and eventually, she breaks down altogether.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ. ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾ ਥੀਐ; ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ. ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥

ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Without the Word of the Shabad, peace does not come. Without her Husband Lord, her suffering does not end. ||1||
ਮੁੰਧੇ. ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ; ਕਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥

ਹੇ ਪਤਨੀਏ! ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਾਰ-ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਦਾ ਹੈ?
O soul-bride, without your Husband Lord, what good are your decorations?
