Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਯੁਕਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ।

Give up all your clever tricks and devices,

ਤੂੰ ਨੇਕ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਮੜ ਜਾ।

and hold tight to the Feet of the Saints. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਹਨ,

The One, who holds all creatures in His Hands,

ਉਹ ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

is never separated from them; He is with them all.

ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਯੁਕਤੀਆਂ ਤਿਆਗ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਪਕੜ।

Abandon your clever devices, and grasp hold of His Support.

ਇਹ ਮੁਹਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਖਲਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗੀ।

In an instant, you shall be saved. ||3||

ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਮਝ।

Know that He is always near at hand.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਕਰ।

Accept the Order of God as True.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਸ ਦੇ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, eradicate selfishness and conceit.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ।

O Nanak, chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||4||73||

ਗਊੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸਥਿਰ ਹੈ।

The Guru's Word is eternal and everlasting.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਟੁਕੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

The Guru's Word cuts away the noose of Death.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਤਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Guru's Word is always with the soul.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਇਨਸਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੱਚ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's Word, one is immersed in the Love of the Lord. ||1||

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੁਛ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਫਾਇਦੇ ਲਈ ਹੈ।

Whatever the Guru gives, is useful to the mind.

ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਜੋ ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਤਸਲੀਮ ਕਰ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Whatever the Saint does - accept that as True. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਮੋੜ ਤੇ ਅਮੇਟ ਹੈ।

The Guru's Word is infallible and unchanging.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਅੰਤਰੇ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Through the Guru's Word, doubt and prejudice are dispelled.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ) ਕਦਾਚਿੱਤ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।

The Guru's Word never goes away;

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

through the Guru's Word, we sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Guru's Word accompanies the soul.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਿਖ਼ਸਮਿਆ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਸਮ ਹੈ।

The Guru's Word is the Master of the masterless.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਦੋਜ਼ਕ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ।

The Guru's Word saves one from falling into hell.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's Word, the tongue savors the Ambrosial Nectar. ||3||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਜਹਾਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਹੈ।

The Guru's Word is revealed in the world.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਿਕਸਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ।

Through the Guru's Word, no one suffers defeat.

ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

O Nanak, the True Guru is always kind and compassionate,

ਨਾਨਕ, ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Unto those whom the Lord Himself has blessed with His Mercy. ||4||5||74||

ਗਊੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਹੀਰਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ।

He makes jewels out of the dust,

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਬੱਚੇਦਾਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਪਾਓ ਅਖਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ।

and He managed to preserve you in the womb.

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਮਵਰੀ ਤੇ ਬਜੁਰਗੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

He has given you fame and greatness;

ਉਸ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।

meditate on that God, twenty-four hours a day. ||1||

ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨੇਕ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇ।

O Lord, I seek the dust of the feet of the Holy.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Meeting the Guru, I meditate on my Lord and Master. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਚਜਰਕ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਤਾ।

He transformed me, the fool, into a fine speaker,

ਅਚੇਤ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

and He made the unconscious become conscious;

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨੋ ਖਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

by His Grace, I have obtained the nine treasures.

ਉਸ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ।

May I never forget that God from my mind. ||2||

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ-ਰਹਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਦਿਤਾ,

He has given a home to the homeless;

ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਬੇ-ਇਜ਼ਤ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ।

He has given honor to the dishonored.

ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ।

He has fulfilled all desires;

ਦਿਨੇ ਰਾਤ ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਹਰ ਸੁਆਸ ਤੇ ਬੁਰਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ।

remember Him in meditation, day and night, with every breath and every morsel of food. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਤਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਕੱਟੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।

By His Grace, the bonds of Maya are cut away.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਇਆਲਤਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਖੱਟੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, the bitter poison has become Ambrosial Nectar.

ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।

Says Nanak, I cannot do anything;

ਮੈਂ ਰਖਿਅਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਸਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I praise the Lord, the Protector. ||4||6||75||

ਗਊੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੰਜਵੀਂ।

Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਤੇ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।

In His Sanctuary, there is no fear or sorrow.

ਉੋਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

Without Him, nothing at all can be done.

ਮੈਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ, ਤਾਕਤ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਛਡ ਦਿਤੀ ਹੈ।

I have renounced clever tricks, power and intellectual corruption.

ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਫ਼ਰ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

God is the Protector of His servant. ||1||

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਤੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।

Meditate, O my mind, on the Lord, Raam, Raam, with love.

ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ, ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ! ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Within your home, and beyond it, He is always with you. ||1||Pause||

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਖ।

Keep His Support in your mind.
