Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਉਹ ਆਪ ਉਚਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ।

He Himself is the Highest of the High.

ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਦਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

How rare are those who behold Him. He causes Himself to be seen.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the hearts of those who see the Lord themselves, and inspire others to see Him as well. ||8||26||27||

ਮਾਝ, ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

My God is pervading and permeating all places.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

By Guru's Grace, I have found Him within the home of my own heart.

ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।

I serve Him constantly, and I meditate on Him single-mindedly. As Gurmukh, I am absorbed in the True One. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਜਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Lord, the Life of the World, within their minds.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਤੇ ਨਿਡਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਮਾ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਆਲਮ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, I merge with intuitive ease into the Lord, the Life of the World, the Fearless One, the Great Giver. ||1||Pause||

ਤੇਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਜ਼ਮੀਨ, ਬਲਦ ਅਤੇ ਹੇਠਲਾ ਲੋਕ ਹੈ।

Within the home of the self is the earth, its support and the nether regions of the underworld.

ਤੇਰੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਦਿਲਬਰ ਹੈ।

Within the home of the self is the Eternally Young Beloved.

ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਖੁਸ਼ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਰਾਮ-ਦੇਣਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜੀਵ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Giver of peace is eternally blissful. Through the Guru's Teachings, we are absorbed in intuitive peace. ||2||

ਦੇਹਿ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਅਪਣੱਤ ਹੈ,

When the body is filled with ego and selfishness,

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਚੱਕਰ ਮੁਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

the cycle of birth and death does not end.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who becomes Gurmukh subdues egotism, and meditates on the Truest of the True. ||3||

ਦੇਹੀ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਭਰਾ, ਬਦੀ ਤੇ ਨੇਕੀ ਹਨ।

Within this body are the two brothers, sin and virtue.

ਦੋਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।

When the two joined together, the Universe was produced.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਤਾਬੇ ਦੋਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਸ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੁੱਤੇ-ਸਿਧ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Subduing both, and entering into the Home of the One, through the Guru's Teachings, we are absorbed in intuitive peace. ||4||

ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦਾ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਹੈ।

Within the home of the self is the darkness of the love of duality.

ਜਦ ਰੱਬੀ-ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਉਦੈ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਤੇ ਖੁਦੀ ਉਡ ਪੁੱਡ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

When the Divine Light dawns, ego and selfishness are dispelled.

ਆਰਾਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਰੈਣ ਦਿਨ, ਆਦਮੀ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Giver of peace is revealed through the Shabad, meditating upon the Naam, night and day. ||5||

ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨੂਰ ਹੈ, ਐਨ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਖਿਲਾਰ।

Deep within the self is the Light of God; It radiates throughout the expanse of His creation.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖ-ਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Guru's Teachings, the darkness of spiritual ignorance is dispelled.

ਦਿਲ ਕੰਵਲ ਖਿੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਰਮ ਚਾਨਣ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and eternal peace is obtained, as one's light merges into the Light. ||6||

ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਜਵਾਹਿਰਾਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਬਾਲਬ ਖਜਾਨੇ ਹਨ।

Within the mansion is the treasure house, overflowing with jewels.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਨੰਤ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਖਜਾਨਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Gurmukh obtains the Infinite Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਨੇਕ ਸੁਦਾਗਰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਸੂਤ ਖਰੀਦਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਨਫਾ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Gurmukh, the trader, always purchases the merchandise of the Naam, and always reaps profits. ||7||

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਇਸ ਮਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord Himself keeps this merchandise in stock, and He Himself distributes it.

ਕੋਈ ਟਾਵਾਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਸ ਮਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਖਰੀਦਦਾ ਹੈ।

Rare is that Gurmukh who trades in this.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, those upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, obtain it. Through His Mercy, it is enshrined in the mind. ||8||27||28||

ਮਾਝ, ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord Himself leads us to merge with Him and serve Him.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the love of duality is eradicated.

ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਨੇਕੀ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ। ਸਾਈਂ ਖੁਦ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਮਤਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Immaculate Lord is the Bestower of eternal virtue. The Lord Himself leads us to merge in His Virtuous Goodness. ||1||

ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਸਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਤਸ਼ਕਰਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਤਿਨਾਮ, ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਾਕ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The True Name is eternally pure and immaculate. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is enshrined within the mind. ||1||Pause||

ਵੱਡਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਦਾ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਹੈ।

The Guru Himself is the Giver, the Architect of Destiny.

ਟਹਿਲੂਆ, ਜੋ ਮੁਖੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Gurmukh, the humble servant who serves the Lord, comes to know Him.

ਨਾਮ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ-ਮਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those humble beings look beautiful forever in the Ambrosial Naam. Through the Guru's Teachings, they receive the sublime essence of the Lord. ||2||

ਏਸ ਦੇਹਿ ਦੀ ਕੰਦਰਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਹੈ।

Within the cave of this body, there is one beautiful place.

ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Through the Perfect Guru, ego and doubt are dispelled.

ਜੋ ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੂੰ ਪਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Night and day, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; imbued with the Lord's Love, by Guru's Grace, you shall find Him. ||3||
