ਇਕਿ ਕੂੜਿ ਲਾਗੇ; ਕੂੜੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥
eik koorr laage; koorre fal paae |
ਕਈ ਝੂਠ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਝੂਠੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Some are stuck in falsehood, and false are the rewards they receive.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ; ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
doojai bhaae; birathaa janam gavaae |
ਦਵੈਤ-ਭਾਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬੇਅਰਥ ਗੁਆ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
In love with duality, they waste away their lives in vain.
ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਡੋਬੇ; ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥

ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਮੂਹ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਡੁਬੋ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਝੂਠ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
They drown themselves, and drown their entire family; speaking lies, they eat poison. ||6||
ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੁ; ਕੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਖੈ ॥

ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਦੇਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਦੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਝਾਤੀ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, look within their bodies, into their minds.
ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ; ਜਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੋਖੈ ॥
bhaae bhagat; jaa haumai sokhai |
ਪਰੇਮ ਭਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਸੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Through loving devotion, their ego evaporates.
ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਮੋਨਿਧਾਰੀ. ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ; ਤਿਨ ਭੀ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ. ਮਨੁ ਨ ਦਿਖਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
sidh saadhik monidhaaree. rahe liv laae; tin bhee tan meh. man na dikhaavaniaa |7|
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਸ਼, ਅਭਿਆਸੀ ਤੇ ਖਾਮੋਸ਼ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਹੰਭ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਅੰਦਰ ਮਨੂਏ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ।
The Siddhas, the seekers and the silent sages continually, lovingly focus their consciousness, but they have not seen the mind within the body. ||7||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ; ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
aap karaae; karataa soee |
ਉਹ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਖੁਦ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲੋ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Creator Himself inspires us to work;
ਹੋਰੁ ਕਿ ਕਰੇ; ਕੀਤੈ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਈ ॥
hor ki kare; keetai kiaa hoee |
ਹੋਰਸ ਕੋਈ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
what can anyone else do? What can be done by our doing?
ਨਾਨਕ. ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ. ਸੋ ਲੇਵੈ; ਨਾਮੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੩॥੨੪॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
O Nanak, the Lord bestows His Name; we receive it, and enshrine it within the mind. ||8||23||24||
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਮਾਝ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Maajh, Third Mehl:
ਇਸੁ ਗੁਫਾ ਮਹਿ; ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
eis gufaa meh; akhutt bhanddaaraa |
ਏਸ ਦੇਹਿ-ਕੰਦਰਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਮੁੱਕ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ।
Within this cave, there is an inexhaustible treasure.
ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਸੈ; ਹਰਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
tis vich vasai; har alakh apaaraa |
ਇਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਤ ਤੇ ਅਨੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Within this cave, the Invisible and Infinite Lord abides.
ਆਪੇ; ਗੁਪਤੁ. ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ; ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ. ਆਪੁ ਵੰਞਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥

ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਅਲੋਪ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਮਾਨ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
He Himself is hidden, and He Himself is revealed; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, selfishness and conceit are eliminated. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ; ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
hau vaaree jeeo vaaree; amrit naam man vasaavaniaa |
ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਸੁਧਾ-ਸਰੂਪ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, within their minds.
ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ; ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਪਰਮ ਮਿੱਠੜਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇੲ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The taste of the Ambrosial Naam is very sweet! Through the Guru's Teachings, drink in this Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ; ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ਖੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
haumai maar; bajar kapaatt khulaaeaa |
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਕਰੜੇ ਤਖਤੇ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Subduing egotism, the rigid doors are opened.
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ; ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
naam amolak; gur parasaadee paaeaa |
ਅਣਮੁੱਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Priceless Naam is obtained by Guru's Grace.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ. ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਈ; ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
bin sabadai. naam na paae koee; gur kirapaa man vasaavaniaa |2|
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਹਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Without the Shabad, the Naam is not obtained. By Guru's Grace, it is implanted within the mind. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਚੁ; ਨੇਤ੍ਰੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
gur giaan anjan sach; netree paaeaa |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਗਿਆਤ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
The Guru has applied the true ointment of spiritual wisdom to my eyes.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ; ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
antar chaanan; agiaan andher gavaaeaa |
ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਉਦੇ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਦੁਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Deep within, the Divine Light has dawned, and the darkness of ignorance has been dispelled.
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ; ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
jotee jot milee man maaniaa; har dar sobhaa paavaniaa |3|
ਮੇਰੀ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਪਰਮ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ।
My light has merged into the Light; my mind has surrendered, and I am blessed with Glory in the Court of the Lord. ||3||
ਸਰੀਰਹੁ ਭਾਲਣਿ; ਕੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਏ ॥
sareerahu bhaalan; ko baahar jaae |
ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਜਣਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਢੂੰਡ ਭਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਵੇ,
Those who look outside the body, searching for the Lord,
ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਲਹੈ; ਬਹੁਤੁ ਵੇਗਾਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
naam na lahai; bahut vegaar dukh paae |
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਬਗਾਰ ਦਾ ਘਣਾ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Shall not receive the Naam; they shall instead be forced to suffer the terrible pains of slavery.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ. ਸੂਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ; ਫਿਰਿ ਘਿਰਿ ਆਇ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਥੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
manamukh andhe. soojhai naahee; fir ghir aae, guramukh vath paavaniaa |4|
ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕੂਲ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਪ੍ਰੰਤੁ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਅਸਲ ਵਸਤੂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਦਰੋ ਹੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The blind, self-willed manmukhs do not understand; but when they return once again to their own home, then, as Gurmukh, they find the genuine article. ||4||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ; ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
gur parasaadee; sachaa har paae |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By Guru's Grace, the True Lord is found.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵੇਖੈ; ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਜਾਏ ॥
man tan vekhai; haumai mail jaae |
ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਦੀ ਮਲੀਨਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Within your mind and body, see the Lord, and the filth of egotism shall depart.
ਬੈਸਿ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ. ਸਦ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ; ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
bais suthaan. sad har gun gaavai; sachai sabad samaavaniaa |5|
ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਤੇ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਹਿਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Sitting in that place, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord forever, and be absorbed in the True Word of the Shabad. ||5||
ਨਉ ਦਰ ਠਾਕੇ; ਧਾਵਤੁ ਰਹਾਏ ॥
nau dar tthaake; dhaavat rahaae |
ਜੋ ਆਪਦੇ ਨੌ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਦੇ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੂਏ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those who close off the nine gates, and restrain the wandering mind,
ਦਸਵੈ; ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
dasavai; nij ghar vaasaa paae |
ਉਹ ਦਸਵੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸੇਬਾ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
come to dwell in the Home of the Tenth Gate.
ਓਥੈ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ. ਵਜਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ; ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
othai anahad sabad. vajeh din raatee; guramatee sabad sunaavaniaa |6|
ਉਥੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਵਜਾਏ ਵੱਜਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਾਗ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਰੈਣ ਗੂੰਜਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
There, the Unstruck Melody of the Shabad vibrates day and night. Through the Guru's Teachings, the Shabad is heard. ||6||
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ; ਅੰਤਰਿ ਆਨੇਰਾ ॥
bin sabadai; antar aaneraa |
ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਹੈ।
Without the Shabad, there is only darkness within.
ਨ ਵਸਤੁ ਲਹੈ; ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਫੇਰਾ ॥
n vasat lahai; na chookai feraa |
ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਸਲ ਵਸਤੂ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਗੇੜਾ ਮੁਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।
The genuine article is not found, and the cycle of reincarnation does not end.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ. ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ; ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ. ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
satigur hath kunjee. horat dar khulai naahee; gur poorai. bhaag milaavaniaa |7|
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਾਬੀ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦਰਵਾਜਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ। ਪੂਰਨ ਚੰਗੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
The key is in the hands of the True Guru; no one else can open this door. By perfect destiny, He is met. ||7||
ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ; ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥
gupat paragatt; toon sabhanee thaaee |
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਪੋਸ਼ੀਦਾ ਤੇ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੂੰ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!
You are the hidden and the revealed in all places.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਿਲਿ; ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
gur parasaadee mil; sojhee paaee |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Receiving Guru's Grace, this understanding is obtained.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੪॥੨੫॥
naanak. naam salaeh sadaa toon; guramukh man vasaavaniaa |8|24|25|
ਨਾਨਕ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾ।
O Nanak, praise the Naam forever; as Gurmukh, enshrine it within the mind. ||8||24||25||

ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਖੁਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Gurmukhs meet the Lord, and inspire others to meet Him as well.
ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ; ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ॥
kaal na johai; dukh na santaape |
ਮੌਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਕਾਉਂਦੀ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ।
Death does not see them, and pain does not afflict them.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਸਭ ਤੋੜੈ; ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
haumai maar bandhan sabh torrai; guramukh sabad suhaavaniaa |1|
ਆਪਦੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਮੂਹ ਬੇਡੀਆਂ ਕਟ ਸੁਟਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਸ਼ੋਭਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Subduing egotism, they break all their bonds; as Gurmukh, they are adorned with the Word of the Shabad. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ; ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
hau vaaree jeeo vaaree; har har naam suhaavaniaa |
ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਲਗਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who look beautiful in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਵੈ. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਚੈ; ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
