ਸਿਰੀ ਰਾਗ, ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਾਰਾ ਜਹਾਨ, ਮੰਦ-ਅਮਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਚਤ ਹੈ।

The whole world is engrossed in bad deeds and good deeds.

ਦੋਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਚੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਾਧੂ। ਕੋਈ ਟਾਵਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।

God's devotee is above both, but those who understand this are very rare. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਕੀ ਆਖਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ!

Our Lord and Master is all-pervading everywhere.

ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਸਰਬ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀਵਾਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹੈਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

What should I say, and what should I hear? O my Lord and Master, You are Great, All-powerful and All-knowing. ||1||Pause||

ਜੋ ਸਵੈ-ਉਪਮਾ ਤੇ ਸਵੈ-ਬੇਇਜ਼ਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ (ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

One who is influenced by praise and blame is not God's servant.

ਹੇ ਸਾਧੂ! ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਲਾਗ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ, ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਹੈ।

One who sees the essence of reality with impartial vision, O Saints, is very rare-one among millions. ||2||

ਲੋਕੀਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਤੇ ਅਖਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ (ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਦੇ) ਹਨ।

People talk on and on about Him; they consider this to be praise of God.

ਕੋਈ ਇਕ ਅਧਾ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਵਰਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਿਰਸੰਦੇਹ ਇਸ ਬਕਬਕ ਤੋਂ ਉਚੇਰਾ ਹੈ।

But rare indeed is the Gurmukh, who is above this mere talk. ||3||

ਬੰਦ-ਖਲਾਸੀ ਤੇ ਬੰਦੀ ਵਲ, ਉਹ ਭੋਰਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,

He is not concerned with deliverance or bondage.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ (ਗੁਰਾਂ) ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਕ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਦ-ਖਲਾਸੀ ਤੇ ਬੰਦੀ ਵਲ, ਉਹ ਭੋਰਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

Nanak has obtained the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||26||96||
