ਸਲੋਕ, ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Salok, First Mehl:

ਆਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਿ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਉਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

He created the Creative Power of the Universe, within which He dwells.

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ (ਤੋ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

One who reflects upon his allotted span of life, becomes the slave of God.

ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ, ਜੋ ਆਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ, ਜਾਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।

The value of the Creative Power of the Universe cannot be known.

ਜੇਕਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦਾਮ ਜਾਣ ਭੀ ਲਵੇ ਤਦ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।

Even if its value were known, it could not be described.

ਲੋਕ ਮਜ਼ਹਬੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਾਇਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

Some think about religious rituals and regulations,

ਪਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ, ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਰਾਂ ਤਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ?

but without understanding, how can they cross over to the other side?

ਭਰੋਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਿਉਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੂਏ ਦੀ ਜਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਕਰ।

Let sincere faith be your bowing in prayer, and let the conquest of your mind be your objective in life.

ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਜਰ ਨਾਜਰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Wherever I look, there I see God's Presence. ||1||
