ਸਿਰੀ ਰਾਗ, ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I fall at His Feet to please and appease Him.

ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ। ਵੁਸ ਜਿਡਾ ਵਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The True Guru has united me with the Lord, the Primal Being. There is no other as great as He. ||1||Pause||

ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਹੈ।

The Lord of the Universe is my Sweet Beloved.

ਉਹ ਅਮੜੀ ਤੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੈ।

He is sweeter than my mother or father.

ਅੰਮਾ ਜਾਈਆਂ, ਵੀਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਚੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ!

Among all sisters and brothers and friends, there is no one like You. ||1||

ਤੇਰੇ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਉਣ ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।

By Your Command, the month of Saawan has come.

ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚ ਦਾ ਹਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ।

I have hooked up the plow of Truth,

ਇਸ ਉਮੀਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ, ਆਪਣੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਸਦਕਾ, ਦਾਣਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਬਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਬੀਜਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਹਾਂ।

and I plant the seed of the Name in hopes that the Lord, in His Generosity, will bestow a bountiful harvest. ||2||

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿੰਞਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

Meeting with the Guru, I recognize only the One Lord.

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰਸ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ।

In my consciousness, I do not know of any other account.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਕੰਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਿਮੇ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੇਪਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

The Lord has assigned one task to me; as it pleases Him, I perform it. ||3||

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਓ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਖਾਓ ਪੀਓ ਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੋਂ।

Enjoy yourselves and eat, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ, ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਜਤ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਪਹਿਨਾਈ ਹੈ।

In the Guru's Court, He has blessed me with the Robe of Honor.

ਮੈਂ ਗਰਾਉ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਮੈਂ ਕੈਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆਦੇ ਹਨ।

I have become the Master of my body-village; I have taken the five rivals as prisoners. ||4||

ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ!

I have come to Your Sanctuary.

ਪੰਜੇ ਕਾਸ਼ਤਕਾਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੁਜ਼ਾਰੇ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

The five farm-hands have become my tenants;

ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਹੁਣ ਕੋਈ ਕੰਨ (ਸਿਰ) ਚੁਕਣ ਦਾ ਹੀਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈਂ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਵਸੋਂ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।

none dare to raise their heads against me. O Nanak, my village is populous and prosperous. ||5||

ਕੁਰਬਾਨ, ਓ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੋਂ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!

I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You.

ਇਕੋ ਸਾਹ, ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I meditate on You continually.

ਤੂੰ ਉਜੜੇ ਪੁਜੜੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੇਂ ਸਿਰਿਓ ਆਬਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੋਂ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੈਂ ਖੰਨੀਏ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

The village was in ruins, but You have re-populated it. I am a sacrifice to You. ||6||

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸਿਰਮਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,

O Beloved Lord, I meditate on You continually;

ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਮੁਰਾਦਾ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

I obtain the fruits of my mind's desires.

ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਵਿਰਤ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੀ ਹੈ।

All my affairs are arranged, and the hunger of my mind is appeased. ||7||

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿਤੇ ਹਨ।

I have forsaken all my entanglements;

ਮੈਂ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I serve the True Lord of the Universe.

ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਲੜ ਨਾਲ ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਘੁੱਟ ਕੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

I have firmly attached the Name, the Home of the Nine Treasures to my robe. ||8||

ਮੈਂ ਆਰਾਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

I have obtained the comfort of comforts.

ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।

The Guru has implanted the Word of the Shabad deep within me.

ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕਰ ਟੇਕ ਕੇ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੰਤ ਦਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

The True Guru has shown me my Husband Lord; He has placed His Hand upon my forehead. ||9||

ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚਾਈ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਨੀਹਂ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੈ।

I have established the Temple of Truth.

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ।

I sought out the Guru's Sikhs, and brought them into it.

ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਗ ਧੋਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਖੀ ਝਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਝੁਕ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾ ਤੇ ਢਹਿ ਪੈਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

I wash their feet, and wave the fan over them. Bowing low, I fall at their feet. ||10||

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਬਚਨ ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲਿ ਪੁੱਜਾ।

I heard of the Guru, and so I went to Him.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ, ਦਾਨ ਪੁਨ ਅਤੇ ਨ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿਤੀ।

He instilled within me the Naam, the goodness of charity and true cleansing.

ਸੱਚੀ ਨਉਕਾ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ!

All the world is liberated, O Nanak, by embarking upon the Boat of Truth. ||11||

ਸਾਰਾ ਆਲਮ, ਦਿਹੁੰ ਰੈਣ, ਤੇਰੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

The whole Universe serves You, day and night.

ਆਪਣਾ ਕੰਨ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਸੁਣ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!

Please hear my prayer, O Dear Lord.

ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿਰਣੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਕੇਵਲ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦ-ਖ਼ਲਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।

I have thoroughly tested and seen all-You alone, by Your Pleasure, can save us. ||12||

ਮਇਆਵਾਨ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਹੁਣ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ।

Now, the Merciful Lord has issued His Command.

ਪਿਛੇ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖਾਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।

Let no one chase after and attack anyone else.

ਸਾਰੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ-ਭਾਗ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

Let all abide in peace, under this Benevolent Rule. ||13||

ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਬੜੀ ਨਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਰ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ।

Softly and gently, drop by drop, the Ambrosial Nectar trickles down.

ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਲਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

I speak as my Lord and Master causes me to speak.

ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਾ ਫ਼ਖਰ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਆਪਣੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰ।

I place all my faith in You; please accept me. ||14||

ਤੇਰੇ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦੀਵ ਤੇਰੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਲਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

Your devotees are forever hungry for You.

ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਮਨਸ਼ਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰ।

O Lord, please fulfill my desires.

ਹੇ ਆਰਾਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਣਹਾਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਬਖਸ਼ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਗਲਵੱਕੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਲੈ।

Grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, O Giver of Peace. Please, take me into Your Embrace. ||15||

ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿੱਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਾ।

I have not found any other as Great as You.

ਤੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ, ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਤੇ ਪਾਤਾਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।

You pervade the continents, the worlds and the nether regions;

ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਥਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ। ਨਾਨਕ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ।

You are permeating all places and interspaces. Nanak: You are the True Support of Your devotees. ||16||

ਮੈਂ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਅਦਨਾ ਘੁਲਾਟੀਆ ਹਾਂ!

I am a wrestler; I belong to the Lord of the World.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਸਜਾ ਲਈਂ ਹੈ।

I met with the Guru, and I have tied a tall, plumed turban.

ਸਾਰਾ ਘੋਲ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਜਮਾ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਮਾਲਕ ਆਪੇ ਬਹਿ ਕੇ ਦੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

All have gathered to watch the wrestling match, and the Merciful Lord Himself is seated to behold it. ||17||

ਵਾਜੇ, ਨਗਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੂਤੀਆਂ ਵਜਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

The bugles play and the drums beat.

ਪਹਿਲਵਾਨ ਅਖਾੜੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਉਦਾਲੇ ਚੱਕਰ ਕੱਟਦੇ ਹਨ।

The wrestlers enter the arena and circle around.

ਮੈਂ ਪੰਜੇ ਚੋਬਰਾਂ (ਮੁਹਲਕ ਪਾਪਾਂ) ਦੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਥਾਪੜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

I have thrown the five challengers to the ground, and the Guru has patted me on the back. ||18||

ਸਾਰੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਸਮੁਦਾਇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਹਨ।

All have gathered together,

ਉਹ ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਮਾਰਗਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਜਾਣਗੇ।

but we shall return home by different routes.

ਗੁਰੂ-ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਨਫ਼ਾ ਕਮਾ ਕੇ ਕੂਚ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਦ ਕਿ ਮਨ-ਅਨੁਸਾਰੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਲ ਜ਼ਰ ਭੀ ਗੁਆ ਕੇ ਟੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ!

The Gurmukhs reap their profits and leave, while the self-willed manmukhs lose their investment and depart. ||19||

ਤੂੰ ਰੰਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੈ।

You are without color or mark.

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਹੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਜ਼ਰ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

The Lord is seen to be manifest and present.

ਹੇ ਖੂਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਸੁਣਦੇ, ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।

Hearing of Your Glories again and again, Your devotees meditate on You; they are attuned to You, O Lord, Treasure of Excellence. ||20||

ਹਰ ਯੁਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ।

Through age after age, I am the servant of the Merciful Lord.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਵੱਢ ਸੁਟੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

The Guru has cut away my bonds.

ਮੈਂ ਮੁੜਕੇ ਘੁਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਖਾੜੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਰਤਕਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ। ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਖੋਜ ਢੁੰਡ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਮੌਕਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

I shall not have to dance in the wrestling arena of life again. Nanak has searched, and found this opportunity. ||21||2||29||
