ਮਾਘਿ. ਮਜਨੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂਆ; ਧੂੜੀ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
maagh. majan sang saadhooaa; dhoorree kar isanaan |
ਮਾਘ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਤਿਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਰੈਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਨ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮ ਅਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਸਲ ਸਮਾਨ ਜਾਣ।
In the month of Maagh, let your cleansing bath be the dust of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੁਣਿ; ਸਭਨਾ ਨੋ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
har kaa naam dhiaae sun; sabhanaa no kar daan |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਤੇ ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਖੈਰਾਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ।
Meditate and listen to the Name of the Lord, and give it to everyone.
ਜਨਮ ਕਰਮ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ; ਮਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥
janam karam mal utarai; man te jaae gumaan |
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੰਦੇ ਅਮਲਾ ਦੀ ਗਿਲਾਜਤ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਉਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
In this way, the filth of lifetimes of karma shall be removed, and egotistical pride shall vanish from your mind.
ਕਾਮਿ ਕਰੋਧਿ. ਨ ਮੋਹੀਐ; ਬਿਨਸੈ ਲੋਭੁ ਸੁਆਨੁ ॥
kaam karodh. na moheeai; binasai lobh suaan |
ਭੌਗ ਵੇਗ ਅਤੇ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਮਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਦਾ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਗਾ।
Sexual desire and anger shall not seduce you, and the dog of greed shall depart.
ਸਚੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਲਦਿਆ; ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਹਾਨੁ ॥
sachai maarag chaladiaa; usatat kare jahaan |
ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਟੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who walk on the Path of Truth shall be praised throughout the world.
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਗਲ ਪੁੰਨ; ਜੀਅ ਦਇਆ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
atthasatth teerath sagal pun; jeea deaa paravaan |
ਅਠਾਹਟ ਯਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਅਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਦਾਨ ਪੁੰਨ ਦੇਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਧਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਤਰਸ ਖਾਣਾ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ।
Be kind to all beings-this is more meritorious than bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage and the giving of charity.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ; ਸੋਈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ॥
jis no devai deaa kar; soee purakh sujaan |
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਇਹ ਨੇਕੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਹੈ।
That person, upon whom the Lord bestows His Mercy, is a wise person.
ਜਿਨਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ; ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥
jinaa miliaa prabh aapanaa; naanak tin kurabaan |
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਘੋਲੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
Nanak is a sacrifice to those who have merged with God.
ਮਾਘਿ ਸੁਚੇ. ਸੇ ਕਾਂਢੀਅਹਿ; ਜਿਨ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੧੨॥

ਮਾਘ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਹੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਮਇਆਵਾਨ ਹਨ।
In Maagh, they alone are known as true, unto whom the Perfect Guru is Merciful. ||12||
