ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ik oankaar satigur prasaad |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਜੈ ਘਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਆਖੀਐ; ਕਰਤੇ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥
jai ghar keerat aakheeai; karate kaa hoe beechaaro |
ਜਿਸ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
In that house where the Praises of the Creator are chanted and contemplated
ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ. ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ; ਸਿਵਰਿਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
tit ghar. gaavahu sohilaa; sivarihu sirajanahaaro |1|
ਉਸ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੱਸ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਧ।
-in that house, sing Songs of Praise; meditate and remember the Creator Lord. ||1||
ਤੁਮ ਗਾਵਹੁ; ਮੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਾ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ॥
tum gaavahu; mere nirbhau kaa sohilaa |
ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਿਡਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਜੱਸ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰ।
Sing the Songs of Praise of my Fearless Lord.
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ; ਜਿਤੁ ਸੋਹਿਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hau vaaree; jit sohilai sadaa sukh hoe |1| rahaau |
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਗਾਉਣੇ ਉਤੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਠੰਢ-ਚੈਨ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
I am a sacrifice to that Song of Praise which brings eternal peace. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਸਮਾਲੀਅਨਿ; ਦੇਖੈਗਾ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
nit nit jeearre samaaleean; dekhaigaa devanahaar |
ਸਦੀਵ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Day after day, He cares for His beings; the Great Giver watches over all.
ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਨੈ. ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ; ਤਿਸੁ ਦਾਤੇ ਕਵਣੁ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
tere daanai. keemat naa pavai; tis daate kavan sumaar |2|
ਤੈਡੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾਤੇ ਦਾ)। ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
Your Gifts cannot be appraised; how can anyone compare to the Giver? ||2||
ਸੰਬਤਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ; ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਤੇਲੁ ॥
sanbat saahaa likhiaa; mil kar paavahu tel |
ਵਿਆਹ ਦਾ ਸਾਲ ਤੇ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ (ਮੁਕੱਰਰ) ਜਾ (ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੀਓ ਸਖੀਓ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਲ ਚੋਵੋ।
The day of my wedding is pre-ordained. Come, gather together and pour the oil over the threshold.
ਦੇਹੁ ਸਜਣ ਅਸੀਸੜੀਆ; ਜਿਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੩॥
dehu sajan aseesarreea; jiau hovai saahib siau mel |3|
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅਸ਼ੀਰਵਾਦਾਂ ਦਿਓ, ਹੈ ਮਿੱਤਰੋ! ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ।
My friends, give me your blessings, that I may merge with my Lord and Master. ||3||
ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਏਹੋ ਪਾਹੁਚਾ; ਸਦੜੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥
ghar ghar eho paahuchaa; sadarre nit pavan |
ਇਹ ਸਮਨ ਹਰ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਐਸੀਆਂ ਹਾਕਾਂ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਹੀ ਪੈਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
Unto each and every home, into each and every heart, this summons is sent out; the call comes each and every day.
ਸਦਣਹਾਰਾ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ; ਨਾਨਕ. ਸੇ ਦਿਹ ਆਵੰਨਿ ॥੪॥੧॥
sadanahaaraa simareeai; naanak. se dih aavan |4|1|
ਬੁਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ, ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਨੇੜੇ ਢੁਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Remember in meditation the One who summons us; O Nanak, that day is drawing near! ||4||1||

ਛਿਅ ਘਰ, ਛਿਅ ਗੁਰ; ਛਿਅ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥

ਛੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਹਨ, ਛੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਛੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਤ।
There are six schools of philosophy, six teachers, and six sets of teachings.
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਕੋ; ਵੇਸ ਅਨੇਕ ॥੧॥
gur gur eko; ves anek |1|
ਪਰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਉਸਤਾਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਸਤਾਦ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਹੈ। ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਹਿਰਾਵੇ ਹਨ।
But the Teacher of teachers is the One, who appears in so many forms. ||1||
ਬਾਬਾ, ਜੈ ਘਰਿ; ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥

ਹੇ ਪਿਤਾ! ਜਿਸ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ (ਮੱਤ) ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਮੱਤ ਦੀ ਪੈਰਵੀ ਕਰ।
O Baba: that system in which the Praises of the Creator are sung
ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਖੁ; ਵਡਾਈ ਤੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
so ghar raakh; vaddaaee toe |1| rahaau |
ਇਸ ਮੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
-follow that system; in it rests true greatness. ||1||Pause||
ਵਿਸੁਏ ਚਸਿਆ, ਘੜੀਆ ਪਹਰਾ; ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਾਹੁ ਹੋਆ ॥
visue chasiaa, gharreea paharaa; thitee vaaree maahu hoaa |
ਸਕਿੰਟ, ਮਿੰਟ ਘੰਟੇ, ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਚੁਥਾਈਏ, ਚੰਦ ਦੇ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ, ਮਹੀਨੇ,
The seconds, minutes and hours, days, weeks and months,
ਸੂਰਜੁ; ਏਕੋ ਰੁਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਵੇਸ ॥੨॥੨॥
sooraj; eko rut anek | naanak karate ke kete ves |2|2|
ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਮੌਸਮ ਇਕ ਸੂਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
And the various seasons originate from the one sun; O Nanak, in just the same way, the many forms originate from the Creator. ||2||2||

ਗਗਨ ਮੈ ਥਾਲੁ. ਰਵਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਦੀਪਕ ਬਨੇ; ਤਾਰਿਕਾ ਮੰਡਲ, ਜਨਕ ਮੋਤੀ ॥

ਅਸਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਥਾਲੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੂਰਜ ਤੇ ਚੰਨ ਦੀਵੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੱਕਰਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਜੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੌਤੀ।
Upon that cosmic plate of the sky, the sun and the moon are the lamps. The stars and their orbs are the studded pearls.
ਧੂਪੁ ਮਲਆਨਲੋ, ਪਵਣੁ ਚਵਰੋ ਕਰੇ; ਸਗਲ ਬਨਰਾਇ, ਫੂਲੰਤ ਜੋਤੀ ॥੧॥
dhoop malaanalo, pavan chavaro kare; sagal banaraae, foolant jotee |1|
ਚੰਨਣ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੋਮ-ਸਾਮੱਗਰੀ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਵਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਚੋਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਫੁੱਲ ਹਨ, ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਵਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
The fragrance of sandalwood in the air is the temple incense, and the wind is the fan. All the plants of the world are the altar flowers in offering to You, O Luminous Lord. ||1||
ਕੈਸੀ; ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨਾ; ਤੇਰੀ ਆਰਤੀ ॥
kaisee; aaratee hoe | bhav khanddanaa; teree aaratee |
ਕੈਸੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀਵਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ? ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੈ, ਹੈ ਡਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰਣਹਾਰ!
What a beautiful Aartee, lamp-lit worship service this is! O Destroyer of Fear, this is Your Ceremony of Light.
ਅਨਹਤਾ ਸਬਦ; ਵਾਜੰਤ ਭੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਰੱਬੀ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਨਗਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਵੱਜਣਾ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
The Unstruck Sound-current of the Shabad is the vibration of the temple drums. ||1||Pause||
ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਨੈਨ, ਨਨ ਨੈਨ ਹਹਿ ਤੋਹਿ ਕਉ; ਸਹਸ ਮੂਰਤਿ, ਨਨਾ ਏਕ ਤੁੋਹੀ ॥
sehas tav nain, nan nain heh tohi kau; sehas moorat, nanaa ek tuohee |
ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਤਦਯਪ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਅੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ! ਹਜਾਰਾ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਤੇ ਤਦਯਪ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਕ ਸਰੂਪ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ।
You have thousands of eyes, and yet You have no eyes. You have thousands of forms, and yet You do not have even one.
ਸਹਸ ਪਦ ਬਿਮਲ, ਨਨ ਏਕ ਪਦ; ਗੰਧ ਬਿਨੁ, ਸਹਸ ਤਵ ਗੰਧ; ਇਵ ਚਲਤ ਮੋਹੀ ॥੨॥
sehas pad bimal, nan ek pad; gandh bin, sehas tav gandh; iv chalat mohee |2|
ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪੈਰ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਕ ਪੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਹਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਨੱਕ ਤਦਯਪ ਤੂੰ ਨੱਕ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰਿਆਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਤਕਾ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਫਰੋਫ਼ਤਾ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
You have thousands of Lotus Feet, and yet You do not have even one foot. You have no nose, but you have thousands of noses. This Play of Yours entrances me. ||2||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ; ਜੋਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
sabh meh jot; jot hai soe |
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ।
Amongst all is the Light-You are that Light.
ਤਿਸ ਦੈ ਚਾਨਣਿ; ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
tis dai chaanan; sabh meh chaanan hoe |
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੂਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਆਤਮਾਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਨੂਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By this Illumination, that Light is radiant within all.
ਗੁਰ ਸਾਖੀ; ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
gur saakhee; jot paragatt hoe |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਈਸ਼ਵਰੀ ਨੂਰ ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the Guru's Teachings, the Light shines forth.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ; ਸੁ ਆਰਤੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
jo tis bhaavai; su aaratee hoe |3|
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ (ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਅਸਲੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੈ।
That which is pleasing to Him is the lamp-lit worship service. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਵਲ ਮਕਰੰਦ, ਲੋਭਿਤ ਮਨੋ; ਅਨਦਿਨੁੋ, ਮੋਹਿ ਆਹੀ ਪਿਆਸਾ ॥
har charan kaval makarand, lobhit mano; anadinuo, mohi aahee piaasaa |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਮਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਮਾਇਲ ਹੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਰੈਣ ਦਿਨਸ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਤਿਹਾਇਆ ਹਾਂ।
My mind is enticed by the honey-sweet Lotus Feet of the Lord. Day and night, I thirst for them.
ਕਿ੍ਰਪਾ ਜਲੁ ਦੇਹਿ, ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਕਉ; ਹੋਇ ਜਾ ਤੇ. ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਇ ਵਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੩॥
kripaa jal dehi, naanak saaring kau; hoe jaa te. terai naae vaasaa |4|3|
ਪਪੀਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ, (ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ!) ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ।
Bestow the Water of Your Mercy upon Nanak, the thirsty song-bird, so that he may come to dwell in Your Name. ||4||3||

ਕਾਮਿ ਕਰੋਧਿ ਨਗਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਭਰਿਆ; ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਖੰਡਲ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
kaam karodh nagar bahu bhariaa; mil saadhoo khanddal khanddaa he |
ਭੋਗ ਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਹ ਨਾਲ, (ਦੇਹਿ) ਪਿੰਡ ਕੰਢਿਆ ਤਾਈ ਡੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਸੰਤ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਭੰਨ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਪਾਸ਼ ਪਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
The body-village is filled to overflowing with anger and sexual desire; these were broken into bits when I met with the Holy Saint.
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ, ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ; ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ, ਮੰਡਲ ਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
poorab likhat likhe, gur paaeaa; man har liv, manddal manddaa he |1|
ਧੁਰ ਦੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਬਦੌਲਤ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
By pre-ordained destiny, I have met with the Guru. I have entered into the realm of the Lord's Love. ||1||
ਕਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਅੰਜੁਲੀ; ਪੁਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
kar saadhoo anjulee; pun vaddaa he |
ਸੰਤ (ਗੁਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਨਮਸ਼ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਇਹ ਇਕ ਭਾਰਾ ਨੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ।
Greet the Holy Saint with your palms pressed together; this is an act of great merit.
ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਉਤ; ਪੁਨੁ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮ ਕਰ, ਨਿਰਸੰਦੇਹ ਇਹ ਇਕ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਨੇਕੀ ਹੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
Bow down before Him; this is a virtuous action indeed. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਕਤ. ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਸਾਦੁ. ਨ ਜਾਣਿਆ; ਤਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ. ਹਉਮੈ ਕੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
saakat. har ras saad. na jaaniaa; tin antar. haumai kanddaa he |
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੂਲ ਹੈ।
The wicked shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not know the Taste of the Lord's Sublime Essence. The thorn of egotism is embedded deep within them.
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਚਲਹਿ, ਚੁਭੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ; ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਹਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
jiau jiau chaleh, chubhai dukh paaveh; jamakaal saheh sir ddanddaa he |2|
ਜਿੰਨੀ ਦੂਰ ਉਹ (ਰੱਬ ਤੋਂ) ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਉਹ ਚੁਭਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਉਹ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਦਾ ਸੋਟਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਡਾ ਉਤੇ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The more they walk away, the deeper it pierces them, and the more they suffer in pain, until finally, the Messenger of Death smashes his club against their heads. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ, ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ; ਦੁਖੁ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
har jan, har har naam samaane; dukh janam maran bhav khanddaa he |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਤੇ ਫ਼ੋਤ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਅਤੇ ਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜ ਮਰੋੜ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ।
The humble servants of the Lord are absorbed in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. The pain of birth and the fear of death are eradicated.
ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ; ਬਹੁ ਸੋਭ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
abinaasee purakh paaeaa paramesar; bahu sobh khandd brahamanddaa he |3|
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਦੀਪਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਲਮਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
They have found the Imperishable Supreme Being, the Transcendent Lord God, and they receive great honor throughout all the worlds and realms. ||3||
ਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੇ; ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡ ਵਡਾ ਹੇ ॥
ham gareeb masakeen prabh tere; har raakh raakh vadd vaddaa he |
ਮੈਂ ਗ੍ਰੀਬੜਾ ਤੇ ਆਜਿਜ਼ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਈਂ! ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ, ਤੂੰ ਹੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ।
I am poor and meek, God, but I belong to You! Save me-please save me, O Greatest of the Great!
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ. ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ; ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਮੰਡਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥੪॥
jan naanak. naam adhaar ttek hai; har naame hee sukh manddaa he |4|4|
ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਗੋਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਅਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਰਾਮ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
Servant Nanak takes the Sustenance and Support of the Naam. In the Name of the Lord, he enjoys celestial peace. ||4||4||

ਕਰਉ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ, ਸੁਣਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤਾ; ਸੰਤ ਟਹਲ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ॥
krau benantee, sunahu mere meetaa; sant ttehal kee belaa |
ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ! ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਮਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸੁਹਾਉਣਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੈ।
Listen, my friends, I beg of you: now is the time to serve the Saints!
ਈਹਾ ਖਾਟਿ ਚਲਹੁ, ਹਰਿ ਲਾਹਾ; ਆਗੈ ਬਸਨੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥੧॥
eehaa khaatt chalahu, har laahaa; aagai basan suhelaa |1|
ਏਥੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਖਟੀ ਖੱਟ ਕੇ ਚਾਲੇ ਪਾ, ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਸ਼ੋਭਤ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ।
In this world, earn the profit of the Lord's Name, and hereafter, you shall dwell in peace. ||1||
ਅਉਧ ਘਟੈ; ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਾਰੇ ॥
aaudh ghattai; dinas rainaare |
ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ਉਮਰ ਘਟ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
This life is diminishing, day and night.
ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ; ਕਾਜ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
man gur mil; kaaj savaare |1| rahaau |
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸ ਕਰ ਲੈ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
Meeting with the Guru, your affairs shall be resolved. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ਸੰਸੇ ਮਹਿ; ਤਰਿਓ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥
eihu sansaar bikaar sanse meh; tario braham giaanee |
ਇਹ ਜਹਾਨ ਬਦਫੈਲ੍ਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਦੇਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਗ਼ਲਤਾਨ ਹੈ। ਕੇਵਲ ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਅ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
This world is engrossed in corruption and cynicism. Only those who know God are saved.
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਜਗਾਇ, ਪੀਆਵੈ ਇਹੁ ਰਸੁ; ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਨੀ ॥੨॥
jiseh jagaae, peeaavai ihu ras; akath kathaa tin jaanee |2|
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜਗਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਜੌਹਰ ਛਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਾਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਨ-ਚਰਚਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Only those who are awakened by the Lord to drink in this Sublime Essence, come to know the Unspoken Speech of the Lord. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਏ. ਸੋਈ ਬਿਹਾਝਹੁ; ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ. ਮਨਹਿ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥
jaa kau aae. soee bihaajhahu; har gur te. maneh baseraa |
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਸੌਦਾ ਖ਼ਰੀਦ, ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਤੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਵੇਗਾ।
Purchase only that for which you have come into the world, and through the Guru, the Lord shall dwell within your mind.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ, ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜੇ; ਬਹੁਰਿ. ਨ ਹੋਇਗੋ ਫੇਰਾ ॥੩॥
nij ghar mehal, paavahu sukh sahaje; bahur. na hoeigo feraa |3|
ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਮ ਚੈਨ ਨਾਲ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੁੜਕੇ ਗੇੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਵੇਗਾ।
Within the home of your own inner being, you shall obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence with intuitive ease. You shall not be consigned again to the wheel of reincarnation. ||3||
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ; ਸਰਧਾ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
antarajaamee purakh bidhaate; saradhaa man kee poore |
ਹੇ, ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਢੋ ਮੇਲ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਸੱਧਰ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ।
O Inner-knower, Searcher of Hearts, O Primal Being, Architect of Destiny: please fulfill this yearning of my mind.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ. ਇਹੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਗੈ; ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੫॥
naanak daas. ihai sukh maagai; mo kau kar santan kee dhoore |4|5|
ਨੋਕਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਸ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਯਾਚਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਾ ਦੇ, (ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!)।
Nanak, Your slave, begs for this happiness: let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||5||
