ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ; ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
dhan dhan har jan; jin har prabh jaataa |
ਮੁਬਾਰਕ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹਨ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ।
Blessed, blessed are the humble servants of the Lord, who know the Lord God.
ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਾ ਜਨ; ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਬਾਤਾ ॥
jaae puchhaa jan; har kee baataa |
ਮੈਂ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਐਸੇ ਗੋਲਿਆਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪੁਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I go and ask those humble servants about the Mysteries of the Lord.
ਪਾਵ ਮਲੋਵਾ. ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਾ; ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ. ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਚੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
paav malovaa. mal mal dhovaa; mil har jan. har ras peechai jeeo |2|
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਠੀ-ਚਾਪੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਫ ਕਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਧੋਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
I wash and massage their feet; joining with the humble servants of the Lord, I drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਾਤੈ; ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿੜਾਇਆ ॥

ਦਾਤਾਰ, ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
The True Guru, the Giver, has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ; ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
vaddabhaagee; gur darasan paaeaa |
ਪਰਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਸੀਬਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
By great good fortune, I have obtained the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan.
ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਰਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ ਬੋਲੀ; ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤੁ ਲੀਚੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
amrit ras sach amrit bolee; gur poorai amrit leechai jeeo |3|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਮਈ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤੀ ਜੌਹਰ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The True Essence is Ambrosial Nectar; through the Ambrosial Words of the Perfect Guru, this Amrit is obtained. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ; ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਈਐ ॥
har satasangat; sat purakh milaaeeai |
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸਮੇਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇ।
O Lord, lead me to the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, and the true beings.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ; ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥

ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
Joining the Sat Sangat, I meditate on the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ. ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣੀ. ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੀ; ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਰੀਚੈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੬॥
naanak. har kathaa sunee. mukh bolee; guramat har naam pareechai jeeo |4|6|
ਨਾਨਕ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਾਰਤਾ ਮੈਂ ਸਰਵਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤਾਬੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
O Nanak, I listen and chant the Lord's Sermon; through the Guru's Teachings, I am fulfilled by the Name of the Lord. ||4||6||

ਮਾਝ, ਚਉਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।
Maajh, Fourth Mehl:
ਆਵਹੁ ਭੈਣੇ; ਤੁਸੀ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੀਆ ॥
aavahu bhaine; tusee milahu piaareea |
ਆਓ, ਮੇਰੀਓ ਅੰਮਾਂ ਜਾਈਓ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੋ ਮੇਰੀਓ ਸਨੇਹੀਓ।
Come, dear sisters-let us join together.
ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਦਸੇ; ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀਆ ॥
jo meraa preetam dase; tis kai hau vaareea |
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਉਤੋਂ ਘੋਲੀ ਹੋਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲਬਰ ਦੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ।
I am a sacrifice to the one who tells me of my Beloved.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਲਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ; ਹਉ. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਘੁਮਾਈਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
mil satasangat ladhaa har sajan; hau. satigur vittahu ghumaaeea jeeo |1|
ਸਾਧ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I have found the Lord, my Best Friend. I am a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||1||
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ; ਤਹ ਤਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
jeh jeh dekhaa; teh teh suaamee |
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
Wherever I look, there I see my Lord and Master.
ਤੂ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿਆ; ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
too ghatt ghatt raviaa; antarajaamee |
ਤੂੰ ਹੇ, ਦਿਲਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ, ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ।
You are permeating each and every heart, O Lord, Inner-knower, Searcher of Hearts.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਦਿਖਾਲਿਆ; ਹਉ. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
gur poorai. har naal dikhaaliaa; hau. satigur vittahu sad vaariaa jeeo |2|
ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਥ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
The Perfect Guru has shown me that the Lord is always with me. I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||2||
ਏਕੋ ਪਵਣੁ ਮਾਟੀ ਸਭ ਏਕਾ; ਸਭ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈਆ ॥
eko pavan maattee sabh ekaa; sabh ekaa jot sabaaeea |
ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਸ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਦਾ ਐਨ ਇਕੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਤਮਾਮ ਰੋਸ਼ਨੀ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
There is only one breath; all are made of the same clay; the light within all is the same.
ਸਭ ਇਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ. ਵਰਤੈ ਭਿਨਿ ਭਿਨਿ; ਨ ਰਲਈ. ਕਿਸੈ ਦੀ ਰਲਾਈਆ ॥
sabh ikaa jot. varatai bhin bhin; na ralee. kisai dee ralaaeea |
ਇਕੋ ਨੂਰ ਹੀ ਤਮਾਮ ਨਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਖਤਲਿਫ ਚੀਜ਼ਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸੇ ਜਣੇ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਉਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਹ ਨੂਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂਰ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
The One Light pervades all the many and various beings. This Light intermingles with them, but it is not diluted or obscured.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਇਕੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ; ਹਉ. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਤਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
gur parasaadee ik nadaree aaeaa; hau. satigur vittahu vataaeaa jeeo |3|
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ! ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਘੋਲੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
By Guru's Grace, I have come to see the One. I am a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||3||
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ; ਅੰਮਿ੍ਰਤ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
jan naanak bolai; amrit baanee |
ਨੌਕਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਸਰੂਪ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Servant Nanak speaks the Ambrosial Bani of the Word.
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ; ਪਿਆਰੀ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
gurasikhaan kai man; piaaree bhaanee |
ਗੁਰ-ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਲਾਡਲੀ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
It is dear and pleasing to the minds of the GurSikhs.
ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਰੇ. ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ; ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੭॥
aupades kare. gur satigur pooraa; gur satigur praupakaareea jeeo |4|7|
ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਤੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਸਿੱਖ-ਮਤ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਵੱਡੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ।
The Guru, the Perfect True Guru, shares the Teachings. The Guru, the True Guru, is Generous to all. ||4||7||
ਸਤ ਚਉਪਦੇ ਮਹਲੇ ਚਉਥੇ ਕੇ ॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehl, Chau-Padhay, First House:
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚੈ; ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨ ਤਾਈ ॥
meraa man lochai; gur darasan taaee |
ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਲਈ ਤਰਸ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
My mind longs for the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan.
ਬਿਲਪ ਕਰੇ; ਚਾਤਿ੍ਰਕ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ॥
bilap kare; chaatrik kee niaaee |
ਇਹ ਪਪੀਹੇ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
It cries out like the thirsty song-bird.
ਤਿ੍ਰਖਾ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ. ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ; ਬਿਨੁ ਦਰਸਨ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
trikhaa na utarai. saant na aavai; bin darasan sant piaare jeeo |1|
ਮੇਰੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੁਝਦੀ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਠੰਢ ਚੈਨ ਪੈਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬਗੈਰ ਪੂਜਯ ਸਾਧੂ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੇ।
My thirst is not quenched, and I can find no peace, without the Blessed Vision of the Beloved Saint. ||1||
ਹਉ ਘੋਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ; ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸਨੇਹੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਉਤੋਂ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to the Blessed Vision of the Beloved Saint Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਤੇਰਾ ਮੁਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਜੀਉ; ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
teraa mukh suhaavaa jeeo; sehaj dhun baanee |
ਤੇਰਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਗਿਆਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਦਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Your Face is so Beautiful, and the Sound of Your Words imparts intuitive wisdom.
ਚਿਰੁ ਹੋਆ; ਦੇਖੇ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
chir hoaa; dekhe saaringapaanee |
ਪਪੀਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਜਲ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੇ ਬੜੀ ਮੁਦਤ ਗੁਜਰ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
It is so long since this rainbird has had even a glimpse of water.
ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਦੇਸੁ. ਜਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਵਸਿਆ; ਮੇਰੇ ਸਜਣ ਮੀਤ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dhan su des. jahaa toon vasiaa; mere sajan meet muraare jeeo |2|
ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਜਿਥੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੋਸਤ ਤੇ ਯਾਰ, ਪੂਜਯ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ!
Blessed is that land where You dwell, O my Friend and Intimate Divine Guru. ||2||
ਹਉ ਘੋਲੀ ਹਉ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੁਮਾਈ; ਗੁਰ ਸਜਣ ਮੀਤ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਲੀ, ਮਾਣਨੀਯ ਰੱਬ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।
I am a sacrifice, I am forever a sacrifice, to my Friend and Intimate Divine Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਇਕ ਘੜੀ. ਨ ਮਿਲਤੇ; ਤਾ ਕਲਿਜੁਗੁ ਹੋਤਾ ॥
eik gharree. na milate; taa kalijug hotaa |
ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਤਦ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਾਲਾਯੁਗ ਉਦੈ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
When I could not be with You for just one moment, the Dark Age of Kali Yuga dawned for me.
ਹੁਣਿ ਕਦਿ ਮਿਲੀਐ; ਪਿ੍ਰਅ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
hun kad mileeai; pria tudh bhagavantaa |
ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਕਦੋ ਮਿਲਾਗਾਂ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ?
When will I meet You, O my Beloved Lord?
