Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰ।

O my mind, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਤੇਰਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ, ਨਾਮ, ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਲਵੇਗਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The Naam is your Companion; it shall always be with you. It shall save you in the world hereafter. ||1||Pause||

ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਡੱਪਣ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਹਨ?

What good is worldly greatness?

ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਸਮੂਹ ਫਿਕੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਬੇਖਬਰ ਬੰਦੇ! ਇਹ ਉਡਪੁਡ ਜਾਏਗੀ।

All the pleasures of Maya are tasteless and insipid. In the end, they shall all fade away.

ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਤੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

Perfectly fulfilled and supremely acclaimed is the one, in whose heart the Lord abides. ||2||

ਸੰਤਾ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹੋ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ।

Become the dust of the Saints; renounce your selfishness and conceit.

(ਹੋਰ) ਹੀਲੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਤੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀ ਢਹਿ ਪਉ।

Give up all your schemes and your clever mental tricks, and fall at the Feet of the Guru.

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਮੱਕੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਉਕਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।

He alone receives the Jewel, upon whose forehead such wondrous destiny is written. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਖੁਦ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹੈ ਭਰਾਓ!

O Siblings of Destiny, it is received only when God Himself bestows it.

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

People serve the True Guru only when the fever of egotism has been eradicated.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਖੜੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

Nanak has met the Guru; all his sufferings have come to an end. ||4||8||78||

ਸਿਰੀ ਰਾਗ, ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl:

ਇਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦਾ ਜਾਣੂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹੀ ਇਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।

The One is the Knower of all beings; He alone is our Savior.

ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਚਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਦੀ ਟੇਕ!

The One is the Support of the mind; the One is the Support of the breath of life.

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦੀਵੀ-ਆਰਾਮ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ-ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹੈ।

In His Sanctuary there is eternal peace. He is the Supreme Lord God, the Creator. ||1||

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! (ਹੋਰਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ।

O my mind, give up all these efforts.

ਹਰ ਰੋਜ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

Dwell upon the Perfect Guru each day, and attach yourself to the One Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੱਚਾ ਭਰਾ ਹੈ, ਇਕੋ ਸੱਚਾ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਤੇ ਪਿਤਾ।

The One is my Brother, the One is my Friend. The One is my Mother and Father.

ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਬਖਸ਼ੇ ਹਨ।

The One is the Support of the mind; He has given us body and soul.

ਉਸ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਹਰ ਸ਼ੈ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਖਤਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਾਂ ਭੁੱਲੇ।

May I never forget God from my mind; He holds all in the Power of His Hands. ||2||

ਇਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੀ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਗ੍ਰਹਿ (ਸਰੀਰ) ਅੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਵਾਰ। ਉਹ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਵ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

The One is within the home of the self, and the One is outside as well. He Himself is in all places and interspaces.

ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਨ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨੁਸ਼ ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਜੀਵ ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ।

Meditate twenty-four hours a day on the One who created all beings and creatures.

ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਤੇ ਝੋਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦੇ।

Attuned to the Love of the One, there is no sorrow or suffering. ||3||

ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ-ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ) ਨਹੀਂ।

There is only the One Supreme Lord God; there is no other at all.

ਆਤਮਾ ਤੇ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਮੂਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

Soul and body all belong to Him; whatever pleases His Will comes to pass.

ਕਾਮਲ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Through the Perfect Guru, one becomes perfect; O Nanak, meditate on the True One. ||4||9||79||

ਸਿਰੀ ਰਾਗ, ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ।

Siree Raag, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਤੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who focus their consciousness on the True Guru are perfectly fulfilled and famous.

ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਬੋਧ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੁੰਗਰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖੁਦ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

Spiritual wisdom wells up in the minds of those unto whom the Lord Himself shows Mercy.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਐਸੀ ਲਿਖਤਾਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

Those who have such destiny written upon their foreheads obtain the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਤੂੰ ਇਕ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰ।

O my mind, meditate on the Name of the One Lord.

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਪਹਿਨ ਕੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਠਹਿਰਾਉ।

The happiness of all happiness shall well up, and in the Court of the Lord, you shall be dressed in robes of honor. ||1||Pause||

ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਮਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

The fear of death and rebirth is removed by performing loving devotional service to the Lord of the World.

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਪੋਸਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one becomes immaculate and pure; the Lord Himself takes care of such a one.

ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਅਤਿ-ਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਗੰਦਗੀ ਧੋਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

The filth of birth and death is washed away, and one is uplifted, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan. ||2||

ਉਹ ਹੱਦ-ਬੰਨਾਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

The Supreme Lord God is pervading all places and interspaces.

ਕੇਵਲ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਹੈ। ਹੋਰ ਦੂਸਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।

The One is the Giver of all-there is no other at all.

ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣਾਗਤ ਸੰਭਾਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੁਛ ਸਾਸਹਿਬ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

In His Sanctuary, one is saved. Whatever He wishes, comes to pass. ||3||

ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਤੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵੰਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

Perfectly fulfilled and famous are those, in whose minds the Supreme Lord God abides.

ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਹੈ।

Their reputation is spotless and pure; they are famous all over the world.

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who meditate on my God. ||4||10||80||
