ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ਸੰਤ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ; ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੩॥

ਧਰਮੀ ਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਾਹਿਸ਼ਾ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
Serving at the Feet of the Holy Saints, all desires are fulfilled. ||3||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ; ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੪॥
ghatt ghatt ek varatadaa; jal thal maheeal poore |4|
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਾਣੀ, ਸੁੱਕੀ ਧਰਤੀ, ਜਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਰੀ-ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
In each and every heart, the One Lord is pervading. He is totally permeating the water, the land, and the sky. ||4||
ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ; ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ ॥੫॥
paap binaasan seviaa; pavitr santan kee dhoore |5|
ਸਾਧੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਾਵਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਨਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੇਸਣਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਘਾਲ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੈ।
I serve the Destroyer of sin, and I am sanctified by the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||5||
ਸਭ ਛਡਾਈ ਖਸਮਿ ਆਪਿ; ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭਈ ਠਰੂਰੇ ॥੬॥
sabh chhaddaaee khasam aap; har jap bhee ttharoore |6|
ਮਾਲਕ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਖਲਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਸੀਤਲ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
My Lord and Master Himself has saved me completely; I am comforted by meditating on the Lord. ||6||
ਕਰਤੈ ਕੀਆ, ਤਪਾਵਸੋ; ਦੁਸਟ ਮੁਏ. ਹੋਇ ਮੂਰੇ ॥੭॥
karatai keea, tapaavaso; dusatt mue. hoe moore |7|
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ ਨਿਆਓ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਂਬਰ ਗੂੰਗੇ ਬੋਲੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
The Creator has passed judgement, and the evil-doers have been silenced and killed. ||7||
ਨਾਨਕ. ਰਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਇ; ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥੮॥੫॥੩੯॥੧॥੩੨॥੧॥੫॥੩੯॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ। ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਰਮ ਕੇ ਵੀਛੁੜੇ; ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਰਾਮ ॥
kirat karam ke veechhurre; kar kirapaa melahu raam |
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈ ਜਿਹੜੇ, ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋ ਵਿਛੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
By the actions we have committed, we are separated from You. Please show Your Mercy, and unite us with Yourself, Lord.
ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਭ੍ਰਮੇ; ਥਕਿ ਆਏ. ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਾਮ ॥
chaar kuntt deh dis bhrame; thak aae. prabh kee saam |
ਚਾਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਨੁੱਕਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਸਾਂ ਹੀ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਟਕ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਰ ਹੁਟ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ਼ਰਣੀ ਆ ਪਏ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!
We have grown weary of wandering to the four corners of the earth and in the ten directions. We have come to Your Sanctuary, God.
ਧੇਨੁ. ਦੁਧੈ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰੀ; ਕਿਤੈ. ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਾਮ ॥
dhen. dudhai te baaharee; kitai. na aavai kaam |
ਦੁੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਗਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ।
Without milk, a cow serves no purpose.
ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਖ ਕੁਮਲਾਵਤੀ; ਉਪਜਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਦਾਮ ॥
jal bin saakh kumalaavatee; upajeh naahee daam |
ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਫਸਲ ਮੁਰਝਾ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
Without water, the crop withers, and it will not bring a good price.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹ. ਨ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਸਾਜਨੈ; ਕਤ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਸਰਾਮ ॥
har naah. na mileeai saajanai; kat paaeeai bisaraam |
ਜੇਕਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਂ ਭੇਟੀਏ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ?
If we do not meet the Lord, our Friend, how can we find our place of rest?
ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ. ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ, ਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਈ; ਭਠਿ ਨਗਰ ਸੇ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ॥
jit ghar. har kant, na pragattee; bhatth nagar se graam |
ਉਹ ਝੁਗੇ, ਪਿੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਕਸਬੇ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਖਸਮ, ਪਰਤੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਤੰਦੂਰ ਦੀ ਮਾਨਿੰਦ ਹਨ।
Those homes, those hearts, in which the Husband Lord is not manifest-those towns and villages are like burning furnaces.
ਸ੍ਰਬ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਤੰਬੋਲ ਰਸ; ਸਣੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਸਭ ਖਾਮ ॥
srab seegaar tanbol ras; san dehee sabh khaam |
ਸਮੂਹ ਹਾਰਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ, ਪਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਮਤਾ ਸਮੇਤ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਫਜੂਲ ਹਨ।
All decorations, the chewing of betel to sweeten the breath, and the body itself, are all useless and vain.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੰਤ ਵਿਹੂਣੀਆ; ਮੀਤ ਸਜਣ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਮ ॥
prabh suaamee kant vihooneea; meet sajan sabh jaam |
ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਾਲਕ, ਲਾੜੇ ਬਗੇਰ, ਸਾਰੇ ਦੌਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਮੌਤ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਨ।
Without God, our Husband, our Lord and Master, all friends and companions are like the Messenger of Death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀਆ; ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
naanak kee benanteea; kar kirapaa deejai naam |
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਹੈ, "ਆਪਣੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਧਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ।"
This is Nanak's prayer: "Please show Your Mercy, and bestow Your Name.
ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ; ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਧਾਮ ॥੧॥
har melahu suaamee sang prabh; jis kaa nihachal dhaam |1|
ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਸਥਿਰ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਕਰ ਲੈ।
O my Lord and Master, please unite me with Yourself, O God, in the Eternal Mansion of Your Presence". ||1||
ਚੇਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਅਰਾਧੀਐ; ਹੋਵੈ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਘਣਾ ॥
chet govind araadheeai; hovai anand ghanaa |
ਚੇਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
In the month of Chayt, by meditating on the Lord of the Universe, a deep and profound joy arises.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਾਈਐ; ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਣਾ ॥
sant janaa mil paaeeai; rasanaa naam bhanaa |
ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟਣ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਭਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Meeting with the humble Saints, the Lord is found, as we chant His Name with our tongues.
ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ; ਆਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਗਣਾ ॥
jin paaeaa prabh aapanaa; aae tiseh ganaa |
ਕੇਵਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਗਮਨ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
Those who have found God-blessed is their coming into this world.
ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੀਵਣਾ; ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਣਾ ॥
eik khin tis bin jeevanaa; birathaa janam janaa |
ਬੇ-ਅਰਥ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਗੇਰ, ਇਕ ਮੁਹਤ ਭਰ ਲਈ ਭੀ, ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Those who live without Him, for even an instant-their lives are rendered useless.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿਆ; ਰਵਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਣਾ ॥
jal thal maheeal pooriaa; raviaa vich vanaa |
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਣੀ, ਸੁੱਕੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਜਮੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
The Lord is totally pervading the water, the land, and all space. He is contained in the forests as well.
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ. ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ; ਕਿਤੜਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਣਾ ॥
so prabh. chit na aavee; kitarraa dukh ganaa |
ਕਿੰਨੀ ਕੁ ਤਕਲੀਫ ਮੈਂ ਗਿਣਾਂ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਪਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
Those who do not remember God-how much pain must they suffer!
ਜਿਨੀ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ; ਤਿੰਨਾ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਣਾ ॥
jinee raaviaa so prabhoo; tinaa bhaag manaa |
ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who dwell upon their God have great good fortune.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੰਉ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚਦਾ; ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਆਸ ਮਨਾ ॥
har darasan knau man lochadaa; naanak piaas manaa |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਲਈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਤਰਸਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਤਿਹਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
My mind yearns for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. O Nanak, my mind is so thirsty!
ਚੇਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ; ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਪਾਇ ਲਗਾ ॥੨॥
chet milaae so prabhoo; tis kai paae lagaa |2|
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੇਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ।
I touch the feet of one who unites me with God in the month of Chayt. ||2||
ਵੈਸਾਖਿ ਧੀਰਨਿ ਕਿਉ ਵਾਢੀਆ; ਜਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਿਛੋਹੁ ॥
vaisaakh dheeran kiau vaadteea; jinaa prem bichhohu |
ਵੈਸਾਖ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾ ਵਿਜੋਗਣਾ ਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਧੀਰਜ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ?
In the month of Vaisaakh, how can the bride be patient? She is separated from her Beloved.
ਹਰਿ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਕੈ; ਲਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਧੋਹੁ ॥
har saajan purakh visaar kai; lagee maaeaa dhohu |
ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਛਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਧਨ ਦੌਲਤ ਨਾਲ ਚਿਮੜੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
She has forgotten the Lord, her Life-companion, her Master; she has become attached to Maya, the deceitful one.
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਨਾ; ਹਰਿ ਅਵਿਨਾਸੀ ਓਹੁ ॥
putr kalatr na sang dhanaa; har avinaasee ohu |
ਲੜਕਾ, ਵਹੁਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲ ਮਿਲਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਉਹ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Neither son, nor spouse, nor wealth shall go along with you-only the Eternal Lord.
ਪਲਚਿ ਪਲਚਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੁਈ; ਝੂਠੈ ਧੰਧੈ ਮੋਹੁ ॥
palach palach sagalee muee; jhootthai dhandhai mohu |
ਕੂੜੇ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਹਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਫਸ ਅਤੇ ਉਲਝ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਮਲੀਆਮੇਟ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
Entangled and enmeshed in the love of false occupations, the whole world is perishing.
ਇਕਸੁ. ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ; ਅਗੈ. ਲਈਅਹਿ ਖੋਹਿ ॥

ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿਗਾੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Without the Naam, the Name of the One Lord, they lose their lives in the hereafter.
ਦਯੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ. ਵਿਗੁਚਣਾ; ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨੁ. ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
day visaar. viguchanaa; prabh bin. avar na koe |
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਾ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਠਾਕਰ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।
Forgetting the Merciful Lord, they are ruined. Without God, there is no other at all.
ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਚਰਣੀ. ਜੋ ਲਗੇ; ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥
preetam charanee. jo lage; tin kee niramal soe |
ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
Pure is the reputation of those who are attached to the Feet of the Beloved Lord.
